...singing in front of a the great big symphonic orchestra in Stockholm and how I long for next week and the concert where I am gonna do it again;=)
Its a feeling of "awe" standing in front of all these amazing musicians and the gospel choir, hearing their instruments play the songs in such a wonderful interpretation and I think this performance is so amazing when you hear their playing these two songs and I also know they thought it was so much fun! And so did I!
And next week I´m gonna stand in front of our own Helsingborg Symphonic orchestra, with shivers on my arms again, and singing my very own songs. I think I will faint! Haha;=)
And when I was much younger, I was the singer in a Big Band and that was also so much fun! Music with real instruments, playing without backing tracks and doing the "real" live thing, is just so rare and therefore extra special today;=)
Oh yeah, I also am thinking of my future stage name...just ANETTE? What do you think about that?=)

If you completely changed the name, I think it would be confusing.

Just Anette reminds me something strong, from the name, and simple because, we will listen to Anette's Music, anette's mind... It brings some comfort and intimacy.

About your stage name...Mmmm I prefer Anette Olzon or Anette Olsson. Just Anette sounds like young popstar, known by reality TV! Ahah I don't know why but its sounds a bit strange! Of course it's up to you =)
Oh and I wanted to share something with you, as a girl you must love make up! I especially love trying a lot of different masacaras. Few days ago I was in a shop (sephora, don't know if you have that shop in Sweden) and I saw a new masacara, "They're real" from Benefit, and it was written its the best one on earth (as all the others if we look at the publicity ahah) so I thought mmmm okay, no I don't buy that one it's gonna be sh** as always!
And few days after, I was at the airport, waiting for my flight to Helsinki and saw it again, and I thought "Mmmmm what the hell, try it!" so I bought it!
And WOW! It truly is the best mascara I ever tried! And I got a lot!(For the UK tour I brought 12 mascara ahah)!
I usually use 3 differents mascara to get the effect I want, but with "They're real" I just need one!

About your artist name, I think Anette Olzon will work because people already know this name or may have heard of it. Just "Anette" could be anyone (though atm I don't think there's a big star called just "Anette" :) ) Or maybe you prefer now Anette Olsson?
Anyway, personally I think your 'old' name will work better because it's already known, though maybe you want to start all over and don;t want to be immedetely connected to Nightwish (I don't know how good the relations/thoughts/memories/etc are for you).
Don't know if you're planning on starting a solo career or one with a band? :) Then a different bandname would be nicer I guess..
anyway, just some thoughts from a fan, haha :)

ReplyDeleteAs for a stage name, I think "Anette Olzon" is ideal for you. It's classy, it has an edge and it sounds better as a stage name. I think if you were to promote yourself as just "Anette" people might make the assumption that you're just a generic popstar, which you clearly are not. Plus its unusual to have a last name begining with "O" - there need to be more people like us in the world :D

Honestly,these videos are probably my favourite thing ever.They show how happy and excited you are.Not to mention,your voice and the orchestra go along so perfectly - I challenge anyone to watch them without bursting into an happy cry.Meadows of Heaven is touching as it is,but DAMN,this performance makes it at least 10 times more emotional.And hearing you singing in Finnish made my time incredibly better.

But I was so sad to read some things. I support his solo career, I wish much luck and success for you, but I feel you so much in Nightwish. On show at Areena Hartwal people wanted you there, cheering when you appeared in the film. Believe me, Tuomas was with a sad face at the shows with Floor Jansen. He admits not, but I know he's feeling really miss you too. He always said you were the vocalist final, you would get to the end of Nightwish. I know I'm being a boring saying this, but I feel you so much.

Of course...you could always go for something more alternative like Anette Longstocking, to express your inner Pippi! Hehe.

One of my favorite things about those videos is that the symphony isn't as loud and distorted as the guitars and such at a Nightwish concert, so even with the phone cameras and such from the audience, the sound is very nice. ;) I'm getting more and more excited for next week's performance each day!

And it is also the name the whole world knows you under already, like for example if Sharon of Within Temptation went solo under the name of just Sharon, it would probably be more difficult for the audience to make an association.

For me you are "just Anette" but I think for a stage name this is too short. And it's a very common name in many countries.
I think "Anette Olzon" would be better. If you don't want to use this name because of reasons we all know, why don't you use "Anette Olsson"? This would be fine too.
Or you could think of a synonym. Maybe something swedish...? I think swedish sounds always nice.
Or what about "Amazing Anette"? This would be great to do a logo because of the double A. And it reminds me of the song "Amazing Grace" and you are truly an amazing grace too.
I could think of some more names if you wish. I like being creative... :-)
But anyway it's your choice. Whatever you decide will be fine, sweetheart, and we will love you no matter which stage name you use because we love you for being yourself which you always did and the music comes from your heart and this is the most beautiful part of you.

Anette; you sounded absolutely beautiful! I loved every part of both songs. And for your stagename, I of course respect whatever you decide to do, and feel free to do what you please, but in my opinion; I think that just having "Anette" as your stagename will sound too much like Madonna, Beyonce, and others who do things like that.
ReplyDeleteI believe, if you wish, you can use your original "Anette Olzon", because that's what you name is in our eyes; this is how we know you and have always known you. It'll give us a sense of normality.
Of course, if "Anette" is the name that rings when you think of your future, and if you think that'll be the name that makes YOU happy, go for it.

Hi Anette! I am glad to see that you appreciate symphonic orchestras. I play viola in an orchestra, and sadly hardly anyone knows what a viola is, let alone appreciate its beautiful sound. (Hey, if you ever want any viola playing on your solo albums you know who to ask ;) Do you ever play the oboe anymore? I know you learned how to play it and I think it is a really beautiful instrument.

And I like the idea of being called just Anette. When a singer goes only by their first name, it makes the fans feel as if they are more close to the singer. I know Tarja has been doing that these days. But I think you could keep the Olsson too, because that would be loyal to your Swedish blood :)

ReplyDeleteOh my God, how I love this time in these videos, you singing Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan sounds almost better than the original and Meadows of Heaven...what can I say? It's just the perfection in the music's shell, beautiful and amazing *-*.
I'm counting the days for you to sing your own songs with an orchestra, I'm very, very anxious for this time and I think if I were living in Japan still I would be travelling to Sweden next week just to see you (L), but that's alright, like I once said, I'll be there in thoughts and my heart will be with you always.
About the name, I think Anette Olzon is great, but it reminds Nightwish and I think you want to make your image away from the band, so maybe Anette Olsson or just Anette is great =).

A mother understands the words better than anyone else does. "Lord, let me become what my child thinks I am." When our kids are so small they see us as their heroes, they see us as the whole world... We can only pray that we live up to their image and keep them happy and safe.
I think "Anette" is a good choice for a stage name. If you pull up Google and type in "Anette," your face and name pop up right away! Google doesn't lie!! Hahaha. Take care,

And about your name, I like Anette Olzon or Anette Olsson more cause, as someone said here, Anette is kinda common name in different countries (no offense, ok?). But, yeah, you're right it looks better if it's a short name on the cover of an album, for example.

Concerning your scene name I really love Anette Olzon and I think it's a good name for lots of countries. But Anette is also a realy good name, easy to memorize.
And also in French it's a really good scene name because we know "ANNETTE" and "ANETTE" can be a good name for a swedish singer. But I don't know if you want to commercialize in France ?
By the way, why your name is Anette Olzon and sometimes Anette Olsson with two ss ?

Nika: Hi and thanks=) We always sang live, me and Marco, except one time in Germany in a TV show. They never want the artists to sing live so everyone had to sing playback and I was so bad at it;=) And I really don't like playback, so live is better;=) I practice every day for next weeks show and mainly since I have never performed the songs so I want to feel them and make them sound as good as possible, of course;=) I will do my best and I am sure that will be good enough, as my coach tought me to think instead of "I need to be so damn perfect all the time";=) Sleep well!

Skånska hör man tyvärr ganska sällan här. Men att du då för många år sedan var i programmet Bettina S, det har jag sett och hört, det måste jag visa mina elever när vi kommer till den där texten där det berättas om dig (jag undervisar svenska på högstadiet här i Finland;)). ReplyDeleteWow, I'm surprised that I've never seen this video before. You have such a nice voice (ok, ok, not that I hadn't recognised it in the last three of four months since I listen to NW :D) ! It sounds a bit different than the original, but fits perfectly to your voice.
By the way, the line "Oman taivaan tänne loin" always makes me laugh, because it sounds like "Komám, Tajvant el ne lopd", and in hungarian it means "buddy, don't steal taiwan, please". :D
(Sorry for my long comment and poor english... [I just studying the lenguage, but I hope it was understandable])
