Good evening everyone! Hope your weekend have been filled with love and good food, as mine has;=)
I am sitting here really nervous and with a stomach pain.... I am going for a business trip and this time I am challenging myself by doing something I have wanted to do for a long time but have been so scared of doing.
Tomorrow I am flying to Stockholm to be involved in a culture week at some schools outside of Stockholm. I am gonna tell my life story for them and at this moment I am so nervous and blacked out that I have no clue what to say or how...
I have always been extremely afraid of talking in front of a lot of people. It´s not the same for me as standing on stage and sing. Singing is something I love and feel secure in, but talking...it´s just soooo hard for me. BUT I challenge myself all the time and this is my next challenge.
3 days with lots of teenage kids staring at me, listening to me and hopefully not hating what I say;=)
First day is wednesday so I still have tomorrow to think about what to say and I am sure it will be just fine but tonight my stomach is just so painful.
Keep fingers crossed for me;=)

Good luck Nettan!!
ReplyDeleteDon't panic!!!
Hej Anette! =)
Sophia
Good Luck Anette!!
ReplyDeleteYou Can Do It, :D,
yeah it's so hard to expose in front of a class, i'm always nervous, but sometimes i feel butterflies on my stomach and my hands are so sweaty, but now i just see over the heads of my classmates and dont see them in the eyes, so i can talk a bit better...
just say anything comes to your mind, or say what your heart does, dont worry to be accepted or hated by what you say, feel comfy with yourselfs it's what matters :)
so good luck again,
hope all goes perfect that day!!
Hi Anette !
ReplyDeleteI wish all the best for you ! Courage
Hugs, and I keep crossed my fingers ;)
You are so brave! I'm sure no one will be bored - I'd have loved to have talks like that when I was at school. Good luck and try to believe in yourself. x
ReplyDeleteHello Anette !
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I'm sure you will be perfect !
You sing in front of thousands of people ! And you do it very well ;)
Even if it's not the same I'm sure you will be perfect !
Be natural and likeable ! Like always !
I will keep my fingers crossed for you ;)
keep us updated !
Have a good night
Good evening Anette,
ReplyDeletethis week i had a very good time with family and friends. Today i went to luch with some friends in a little country close to mine and i ate a kind of pasta (that i don't know how it called in english) with truffle that i love.
I can tell you that i would be scared to and i would feel embarrassed too to talk in front many people. Indeed i think it's different for you to talk than sing. Do they know that are you a Nightwish singer? Are you the only one or will be there other singers? Other question: how long time do you sing?
Anyway, don't worry and everything will gonna be all right! Let know us!
Have a nice evening and don't be scared!
Big hugs
Hey Anette
ReplyDeleteYou'll do great! You're probably a role model for so many of the kids there. They're going to be fascinated by everything about you're life story like...
The moment you started singing, your dance classes where people told you that you didn't have a skinny body fit for ballet dancing (and how you overcame the pressure), your times with Alyson Avenue, your success with Nightwish, your interest in running, your kids, your broken ribs.
Everyone likes determination and success stories and you have lots of determination and success
Dear Anette, you can do it!
ReplyDeleteThink as you're talking in front of your dear Fans ; )
I hope your stomac pain will get well soon!
Hi Anette.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know on which blog entry I should comment because what I want to say is more answering to this one than the latest one. Sorry about that.
By the way, the pictures you posted in the other entries are very beautiful; thanks for sharing!
What you want to do at these schools sounds really cool and I'm sure no one will hate what you say. As I know parts of your life story from interviews, I can say it's very interesting.
Not to mention that it would be extremely nice to have a famous singer (which in my case would also be my favourite one) standing in front of my class.
But I think I know exactly how you feel. I don't like talking in front of an audience either.
In my experience it's easier to give a speech or something when you exactly know what you want to say, in which order you want to say it etc. When I'm not perfectly prepared, I tend to say "uh" or "um" or "er" after every second word and people get bored when listening to me (it's the same problem my math teacher has).
But that's just an advice that fits for me; of course I don't know about you.
Surely I keep my fingers crossed for you.
Have a nice and successful week,
Luisa
I have one questions:
ReplyDelete- Do you eat lamb or rabbit for the Easter luch in Sweden?
My father that he travel a lot for business told me that the rabbit doesn't eat nowhere in the world. So, i've ask to you that you don't live in Italy. In Italy we ate them (me no). Poor animals! :(
You are going to do just fine, Anette! I feel the same way whenever I have to present research at conferences. It's one thing for me to present my work in front of my peers, but it's a whole other ball game when I have to talk in front of students and professors that I have never met before.
ReplyDeleteJust take a deep breath, drink plenty of water, and just be your sweet self and smile! You are going to do great, and the kids are going to love you!
Love and good luck from,
Tabitha
good evening!
ReplyDeleteoh, you don't have to be afraid! i'm sure that the kids will love, what you're gonna tell them.
I'm very jealous of those kids, i want to hear what you say...
but sure, I keep my fingers crossed for you.
I wish you a very nice and succesful week.
hope you will have fun!
Maren
Hi anette
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to wish you luck! I find public speaking actually not that difficult. I sure as hell wouldn't ever want to sing so you see, we all have our strong points. The trick is to be confident in what you are saying and be relax. Believe me, this kids do wanna listen to you. Just be friendly and open and relax. Imagine how you would feel if you were them and it'll be easier to talk to them and try to have fun, after all, it is a day about you and your achivements :) You are gonna be great! Good luck :D
Oh Anette I know exactly how you're feeling!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could disappear when it's my turn to talk to a big audience!! Hehe
Lucky guys!! They will have you in their classrooms!! I wish I could be one of them!!
Take a deep breath and clear you're mind of bad thoughts, and everything will go well!!
Greetings
Clau
Awwww Poor Anette, Its awful when we get nerves that effect us this way :( However I dont think you have anything to worry about :) You have a lovely speaking voice & sometimes you sound sooo cute when you speak...You have a wonderful smile & i think you just have to imagine that you are telling a story about somebody else & just like with your singing use your emotions like with happy & sad parts, speak to them with wisdom in your voice because you are older & very wise... Oh & keep taking the breaths so that your voice does not shake...Iam sure you will be brilliant!! Hope the tummy pain goes XX
ReplyDeleteKisses
Kelly
XxX
Try to have confidence to yourself and you'll be fine!I also have a problem of talking in front of big crowds and i find that annoying sometimes so i try to be possitive and not think about it until i actually have to do it!i wish you the best for the conference! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Anette !
ReplyDeleteI hope you get better as soon as possible (:
And you don't need to be scared really, cuz you know what to do and how to share your experiences with them...
This will be an amazing day for those teenagers that they'll never forget :)
Kisses
You will be fine, I am sure they will all be very interested in what you have to say. You have a lot to talk about.. Tours, Music, Singing, Your Family history in music. Who knows.. they might be worried about what you think of them and they might be the ones worried. Just relax and enjoy. Have a great night.
ReplyDeleteI also have that problem with talking to many people.. I actually played main character in some show in front of MANY people in the theater and I didn't even felt nervous or afraid of making mistakes and I don't know.. But if I had to talk to them about something serious I think I'd die.. It's kinda weird :/
ReplyDeleteAnyway.. Good luck, Anette! :)
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll be great. I am very scared of talking in front of a lot of people too. I always blush so much and sometimes even stutter... it's a nightmare. Sometimes I even vomitt of nervousity.
When I really can't avoid talking in front of an audience, I prepare myself perfectly, tell my speech for myself a few times and prepare a few "saving sentences" - like when I forgot my prepared speech and have a black out, I use one of my prepared neutral sentences, some "bridges". It helps me, because I'm really scared of staying silence in fornt of all of them. So when I use some of these phrases, I usually get back to concentration and remember what I wanted to say... Also I make a big space for questions, when I don't know what more is there to say, I ask people for their questions. It usually turns out that I haven't mention soo many things:)
So I suggest, just be prepared for any unexpected situation, you know how teenagers are, they can be really bitchy, so don't let yourself get out of concentration:). It is you, who have the advantage, you, who have experienced so much and who got strong and wise with time. I'm sure they will love you, because you have such a wonderful personality and you shine happiness all around.:) And they are probably even more nervous because of you, in the end, you're the star in the room.;-)
I wish you the best of luck, and will keep my fingers crossed for you! :)
Lots of hugs and positive energy for you and your guys:)
Dear Anette,
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. You'll be just fine. I am sure that most of the teens you will give your presentation to, are more than willing to listen to you. I am sure they are not getting lectures of celebrities on a weekly basis, so it is exciting for them as well. If they really become difficult to deal with, there is always a teacher nearby to correct them. Maybe it will help you a little bit if you think that all of those teenagers are your loyal fans who are not so judgmental towards you and admire you for who you are. If this doesn't help you (enough), I would like to share another two tips that I have been told a little while ago after confessing my 'fear of public speaking' to someone who was able to guide me a little in this, giving me material to make this whole public speaking thing bearable.
1) Make sure to have both feet connected to the ground under you. Don't cross your legs or press them against each other, but place them under your shoulders. It gives you more balance.
2) Write down all your thoughts in this order.
A) Situation. Example: giving a presentation in front of a group of 20 teenagers.
B) Feelings. Example: tension (95%) fear (90%)
C) Thoughts. Example: 1) It's now or never! 2) I must do well. 3) I need to be seen positively by the teenagers. 4) I'm afraid they might make fun of me behind my back.
D) Challenge. (Are these thoughts really helping me? Do I have proof it's true?)
E) Helping thoughts. Example: 1) I know my story, nothing can go wrong. 2) If the teenagers will not like me, there is always so many other people who do like me. 3) I don't 'must' do well, I want to do well. 4) Why would they make fun behind my back? There is no reason for them to do so.
Confront yourself with the positive thoughts. Before your presentation, if possible even during, and after your presentation.
Maybe you already knew those tips and unfortunately they are not there to take the 95% tension and 90% fear fully away, but it should decrease a bit to a, for you bearable amount of tension and fear.
Good luck and big hug to you!
Yours,
Lisa
Wow! If you came to my school when I was a teenager I would have died of happiness. >_< Best of luck, I'm sure you'll do well!

Hi!
ReplyDeleteWell, the secret is to be brave ;)
I'm with fingers crossed for you!
Kisses and Hugs.
Letícia Monique
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite natural that you're worrying about your perfomance, but I'm sure that everything will be fine.
Some time ago I had to make a speech for my groupmates in the university and I was very nervous. The hardest thing was to start speaking but when I started it went rather easy:-) And my teacher told me that I did everything very good:-)
So, just think well about what you're going to say, don't panic and I'm sure that your story will be interesting and no one will hate you or get bored:-)
Good luck to you and I will keep my fingers crossed:-)
Hugs,
Julia
Anette, You are such a friendly person. Pretend you're talking to us. I'm sure you'll do great and have a blast! You are adorable! The kids will love you. Just wear some awesome shoes that make you feel great. ; )
ReplyDeleteTisa
Anette, I know you're going to do great. (I'm jealous of those kids now...I wish I could be there.) But just try not to freak out too much. It's okay to be nervous, but don't let your nerves get to you. Think positive and tell yourself that everything will go wonderfully. :)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Lauren
That is a big thing you're doing. Reaching out to the young ones is not always easy, but I'm sure everything is gonna be ok!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I learned is that you can use the same relaxation exercises you do before singing to talk in public. Given this, make sure you have at least 10 minutes for yourself before that n_n!
Also, having some notes helps a lot to have an idea of what to talk about and in what order (if there's any :P ); for example, talking about the most important experiences you had in your life that had a huge impact on your present.
Good luck Anette! My fingers are crossed :D
Hello Anette.
ReplyDeleteTry to be less emotional than usually.
More cold-blood.
More "Mrs Olzon" than "Anette".
Watch in eyes of people in front od you.
Do not afraid.
You know that you can do that.
I know that you can do that.
It's obvious.
Regards;
Tomasz Wawruszko
I understand why you are so nervous, it's human after all. But you seem so gentle and smiling, that you can only succeed in chatting with them and making them focused! Are you going to speak about your experience as a singer? Would love to be there, you can't imagine!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
Lucinda
Don't panic and don't worry Anette! You have just to be yourself and you'll see that everything will be fine :) Of course, I keep my fingers crossed for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get well soon. I know that stomach pain is really bad.
Have fun and good luck
Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMy rule for speaking in front of people is to be entirely honest and say what comes into your head from your heart.
I'm a strange person because although I suffer from an anxiety disorder, I absolutely love speaking in front of big groups of people; it's my 'gift'.
Be natural, be yourself and they'll love you like we all do :-D
Well, think of it this way:
ReplyDeleteProbably some teenagers there are big fans of Nightwish and will love to see you!
Don't be afraid! I'm sure you can do it =)
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'm sure they are going to adore you. It is never easy doing public speaking. Just be yourself and don't say anything you wouldn't want to be in quotation later. :) Feel Better!
ReplyDelete*crosses fingers*
ReplyDeleteGood luck Anette and don't worry about what you are going to say. You'll do fine. :)
Greetings and hugs
Sarah
hi Anette,
ReplyDeleteHave not Panic on the Titanic;)
I was nervouz, too. If I must tell in front of my School class.
Breath, bevor come in the class, in peace trough and go in with a smile. And that is very good tell your story free out the Heart without a note in the Hands.
If the Teen´s want ask you anything, they should ask it of the ending your telling;)
So never forget ( i have it forget someone whistel*) to breath^^.
I hope that can help you a little bit.
Nalon
Good luck Anette! What are you saying?
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel, I hate talking infront of others, but acting in front of people, doing plays and such doesn't give me nerves.
Hi lovely Anette,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will be great!!!
Kisses and hugs
Take care
Hey, I wish you good luck!!! It will be all right Anette! You'll do it really good, I am sure.I keep my fingers crossed for you!
ReplyDeletelove,
Lisa
Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I can quite happily get up and sing in front of people (though I don't think I'll ever stop being slightly nervous), but I'm really introvert and I'll just not talk if I meet someone I don't know, let alone talk to a big group of people!
It's great to challenge yourself!
Best wishes
xx
Hi Anette :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about public speaking, and I'm glad I'm not the only one. Singing/acting is fine but when you want me to speak as ... well as ME that's when I get all jittery.
I like to challenge myself too, so I joined the debate team (we won this year - yay) I write the main speech and do the seconding. So not only do I have to speak, I don't get a set speech.... a bit of a mad thing to do if you're not fond of public speaking!! :)
Anyway, I'm sure you'll be fine :) Good Luck!
Hej Anette!
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one in that kind of situation. When I have to speak in front of an audience (school presentations and so on) I'm sooooo nervous. I have to prepare myself for days for that kind of stuff. You know, I go through the presentation in my head many times, present it to my twin sister on the mirror :D and remember to breath also.
I have a job interview tomorrow and I'm so nervous. I had two interviews last week but they were about internship. Now I apply for an actual summer job and I'm extremely nervous! I try to say myself that my interviewer is only a human, she's not a monster.
Anette, I know it will go just great! It helps that you have sung for huge audiences, so you have some kind of experience. Of course it's not the same, but imagine that you are speaking to your audience as you would do in the middle of the songs at a gig.
You go girl! :)
Hi Anette !!!
ReplyDeleteEverything will be OK .
Sophia P.
Hey! :)
ReplyDeleteI know how do you feel! But, when you get there and start talking, you will calm down and be relaxed. If there will be just children, then it looks more easier, don't you think so?
Even though, you feel nervous now, there you won't. ;)
Imagine that you talk with someone you know or that you are giving an interview and it's going to be much easier. ;)
You say wednesday? Ok, then, my finger will be crossed! :)
Good night and sleep well!
Greetings from Croatia
Marija
I have the same thing. I am really scared when i have to talk in front of people. I have become à little more secure because i have to do à lot of presentations for my éducation. I wish you all THE best and you will do fine;) hugs and love from the netherlands
ReplyDeleteAnette,
ReplyDeleteIt does suck to speak in front of so many people in public...I hated speech class too...but I'm sure you'll do awesome! :D
Good luck and take care,
*~*Kerry*~*
Goog Luck!!Use the same confidence you have to sing in time to talk! You'll do fine! Trust yourself! we trust!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Brazil
hello all.i am back again!
ReplyDeleteoh,i wish that i was one of them, who can see you and listen to you!i dream about it!
my fingers are with you:D
love you and good luck
marta...
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteI hope all went well. Speeches in front of many people is not for me ... it makes a nervous and anxious to say what you have wrong. And what you told hnen? It all worked out?
Wish you a nice evening and good night ever
