Good morning!
So, I finally have had some time to upload the videos I made in Finnvox last week, where I just show some very basic warm-ups I do before I start to sing. The first video I accidently erased so I can only publish 4 out of 5. Sorry about that;=(
And remember: I am not a vocal coach, this is just how I do this!
Here we go:=)

You do lots of similar warm ups to me :) Only I don't do the witchy cackling one XD!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes!
xx
Thankyou Anette for uploading these as I have been looking online for vocal warm ups and singing lessons as I can't afford to go to have private lessons at the moment. I have found there are some good websites with free help and advice and demonstration vids that can help and even spotify and you-tube have singing and breathing lessons for those people like me who want to try to improve their voice but can't afford or are to shy to get private lessons.
ReplyDeleteHow often do you warm up your voice and do some singing, is it something you try to do every day even if your not planning any singing work?
This has to be one of my favorite posts you've ever made; funny and helpful at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day =)
Really nice videos! When it was the first time that you took singing lesson?
ReplyDeleteThe witch laugh made my day :D
ReplyDeleteHi Anette, Hope you are feeling great!
ReplyDeleteI love the warm ups they are great! Some a bit like Brett Manning :D
I have to say that the witch one was so frickin cute :D
Its fantastic to hear you voice again & hey its sounds in great shape :D

Also just to quickly say that i cannot for the life of me do that tongue roll exercise ...I just cant do it!!! Is it an important warm up??? ive never been able to do it only just little short ones haha!
ReplyDeletehaha :) I always find vocal warm ups really funny :) Probably doesn't help that the whole choir ends up making faces at each other when we warm up :) Ahh good fun.
ReplyDeleteAnother one we do (which gets really confusing) is the alphabet up and down the scales and we 'brrr' the scales too... which tickles your lips worse that and brass/reed instrument I have EVER tried to play :)
Thanks for posting these.. I need to learn to play scales and arpeggios so I can warm up properly at home :)
Thanks for that, Anette. I do something similar too. For years I used CDs by a vocal coach called Tona De Brett. I also have the book by Cathrine Sadolin which is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHow often do you do vocal exercises/warm-ups?
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteToday, for my birthday (I'm now 18, finally!!), I woke up and what I saw? These wonderful videos, what a great present you offered me unintentionally.
Whatever, I hope you'll enjoy your day ;)

Hello Anette :)
ReplyDeleteThanks For Sharing This,Nice Warm Ups Techniques, you Sound Funny on the second video n.n, i laughed, at the 3rd one you do a sound like a ''R'', mmm almost all the time I Do like a ''Prring'' sound of a cat, does it count like a voice excercice?, im not a singer, but i like to do sounds with my voice, i think its a bit deep,
see you soon!!!
good luck with the recordings :)

Good morning Anette,

Take care!

I love so very much how you share all these details with us. It makes us appreciate you as a person, and not just see you as some artist who is so far removed from every day life and from us, the fans.

That was pretty cool. You're really good!
ReplyDeletePS. Hope the rib is healing well and you can run again soon!
Have a good day.

Thank you, I've been looking for some good exercises for ages :D I will try these for sure! I do the articulating thing too, it really helps :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I love your Swedish accent ;)
Have a nice day!
Anette, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI can't afford voice lessons, and have been having a LOT of trouble with strain, even when I talk, but that massage trick makes my throat feel MUCH better before I even start to talk or sing.
I've tried before to kind of massage it, but when it felt like it was popping, I stopped. It's really a weird feeling!
(PS your voice is so beautiful warming up! :D)

(I don't know what's been happening with my "deadboysalive" screen name not appearing anymore...)
Thank you for posting this Nettie, tips like these are always welcome!
ReplyDeleteBut i'm wondering, when do you warm up your voice exactly? Like every morning? Or just before a concert or recording of an album?
Really liked the warm up videos, though I was expecting something heavier, like using the belting voice. I would also love to hear your flute register! But anyway, it's still awesome.
ReplyDeleteWell, hellu again Anette :)
ReplyDeleteAnd this is a second time for me to thank you because i have been waiting for these warm-ups for so long. I remember quite good the moments of me terrorising you in your rounds of questions about putting the videos about how do you this warming up before going on stage and sing as good as you always do :)
So, thank you for that again :) I am so looking forward to try them now and then. Hope they will help me in my singing and getting a totally new tone, better than I have atm, more professional and more like of an adult person, not like that high and sometimes weak at the important perfoming voice that I have. I tried with Rihanna's song "Russian Roulette", I hope you remember that and this was bad. But looking up to you everyday helps me alot in my singing, of course there are lllllots of live gig recording of Nightwish, of all the songss, so..tack O:)
With you a very relaxed and nice morning I guess, yes, I guess it will be morning already when you will read this, so. take care, and thank you for uploading these little moments of happyness for me.
Lola
I'm not a singer, I don't sing, except in x-mas together with my family (none of us has a good singing voice so we dare to sing together :D) and when I'm alone in my appartment. So for me, who doesn't have a clue about these things, this was very good information.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, if I have a presentation in the morning in school I do similar kind of things as to wake up my voice that everyone in the class could hear me.
Those were so cool! One of my cats was looking around wondering where the sound was coming from! Hee Hee!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTake care...
Christine
Hello Anette!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to know your warm-up routine! I liked it very much!
I am very curious to know what was in the first video that it was accidentally deleted. Please tell us! =)
Kisses!
Gisele.
tack så mycket nu kan jag göra sångövningar framför datorn ;=)
ReplyDeleteHi Anette. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the videos! Your voice is beautiful as always. :) I do some of those things when I warm up too.
Something I've been wondering for a while... What voice part are you and assuming you were in choir in school and such, what voice part did you sing? Just curious. :)
Best wishes
Lauren
Hiii!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see those videos yet. But now, I saw them. :) They are very funny. :D I know it is a warm-up and it is sometimes funny. But, it is very necessary before singing. ;)
I do the same warm-ups like you, on first and second video, when I'm on the choir. We do with vocals (a,e,i,o,u) the most. "E" and "I" are the lightest of the vowel and so we need to sing darker, deeper (don't know how to say it correctly). We use belly technique as you.
You do right ;)
Hugs
