ESC first semi final;=)

Good evening,

Sitting watching the first semi final of this years Eurovision song contest and the songs and performances I liked are:

Estonia - Really cool song and gives me a vibe of Anathema which I love to listen to.

Finland - So finnish and I just love it;=)

Greece - OPA! Can I say more than that I just wanna go to Greece and dance now;=)

Iceland - Great voice;=)

Portugal - Such a lovely girl with a wonderful voice and an amazing dress!

Those were my favourites for this evening, let´s see which songs will go to the finals. My country cant vote tonight so I cant do anything about the results...

Enjoy your evening!

  1. Hej Anette :)
Good that you watched the first semi-finale. I didn't, because i'll not watch the show, sadly. I'll be in London, very busy and enjoying my godfather's family, something that happens rarely, so.... No eurovision for me this year, sigh.. But glad that you noticed the Icelandic song too. I was curious when i saw the song's name, and i went to listen to it, it was something i really enjoyed. :)
I wish you and the baby are ok. Good evening and wednesday to everyone. :)

    *hugs*

  3. Agreed with all, yet Estonia was quite freaky for me... Ups;))) Besides the names you've mentioned, I also loved Slovakia, and Russia wasn't bad! But Iceland melted my heart))) And the parts of the 2nd semi-fanal were amazing!!

  7. Min favorit var faktiskt Malta. Jag gillade hennes röst, förutom i slutet då vibrationerna blev för starka för att det skulle låta riktigt fint. Synd att varken den eller Finland gick vidare :/

  9. Njäääh... I'm a bit disappointed that Finland didn't make it to the finals... Even though I didn't like our song but I still would have wanted to see Finland in the finals... Well, better luck next time.
My favourites were Moldova, Slovakien, Iceland.. and they all made it to the finals. Yeehaw! :D

  11. Heh, I was sitting in front of the TV and almost threw the zapper away when I found out Finland wasn't in, they were my absolute favorite :P I didn't like Portugal so much, actually..

Tomorrow the round where my country (The Netherlands) joins in, and to be very honest I can only hope we won't go to the finals, it would be a shame if our song, that's in my opinion terrible, would take the place of an actual good song..

    Take care!

  12. Hello dear!

We were watching the semi-finals too :) I can't say it was all good, honestly. Imo, there were a lot of...well, bad songs :( and I also liked Estonia, but their song goes better if you watch the actual video, it's so otherwordly. And my favourite was Malta, pity she didn't pass :( such a great voice and vocal technics %) But Iceland did it, so I'm glad.
all in all, I hope the second semi-final will be better in regard of good and catchy songs :)

    All the best
    and dream sweet dreams,
    Lerren

  15. Good evening Anette, I hope that you and the baby are fine. Do you already know about the sex of the baby? If it's a boy or a girl? I am big brazilian fan of yours. Brazil loves you S2! Kisses =)

  16. I always watch Eurosong, love that show!

-Well I like Belgium (Tom Dice - 'Me And My Guitar'), maybe that's also because I'm from Belgium and they got true to the finals. But I really like the song :-) and I don't always like the song they send to eurovision. This is actually the first time in 6 years we got true the semi-finals. ;-)
->Maybe it's a bit of a competition for Sweden, a girl with a guitar (in the beginning of the song).. ;-) But I like the Swedish song very very much. But I can't vote thursday..

-I like the voice of Iceland, but I'm not so found of the title of the song and the refrain. 'Je ne sais quoiiii...' No don't like it, but she has a really amazing voice! :-)

-I did like Finland too, feels like such a happy song :-)

-The 'HOPA' from Greece was indeed very danceble, lovely melody. Catchy!

-And indeed Estonia makes me think of Anathema a bit too. Love Anathema! Totally chill music. And they will come to Graspop this year, so I'm definitely going to watch them their :-)

So let's see what Thursday will bring in the Eurovision contest, good luck Sweden! Like your song! ;-)

  17. Hi Anette,
I saw the first final, too. Hm, I really do not like girl from Portugal. Sweet, but her performance and gestures were similar to Christina Aquilera and one is enough. I wanted to see Poland in Final and of course my country, but our forests ghost have to come home. But let's see what second semi-final will bring.
How are you? I hope that everything is just perfect. I wish you very nice day full of sun and joy.

  20. Good morning Anette!
I have watched the ESC Semifinals yesterday too and even though some of the performances I really liked DID end up in the finals, I was still disappointed about some that didn't manage it. Like Estonia, Finland and Malta.

I absolutely loved Estonia, it probably was one of the bravest entries so far this year, it reminded me of Mika a little bit now and then. Too bad they didn't make it to the finals. :(

Finland's song sounded "so finnish", like you said. =) I loved the style, that's so characteristic to Finnish "oldies'" music yet sounded so folklore-like as well. And so happy, upbeat yet still touching.

The girl from Malta, even though she didn't have such a great song in itself, had an amazing voice in my opinion. She could've made it to the finals instead of Serbia or Moldavia or some "not that interesting" performance.

From the ones who qualified next, I loved Russia, they had such a good and velvety vocalist, I loved Belgium, cause it was SO simple, yet probably one of the best composed, catchiest songs in the contest. Also Bosnia and their rockier song and Greece of course. Oriental beats never fail when it comes to this kind of contests ;)

I'm also looking forward to the semi-finals on Thursday of course, especially for Romania, cause I live here, Turkey, cause I'm Turkish, and Sweden and Norway, just because. =)
And then the finals, that are so exciting every year!

    Have a great day, Anette!

  22. I was rooting for Finland because I didn't believe in Belgium's chances (I am a Belgian), but well yeah those things never go as you expect them lol. Obviously I have a very uneuropean taste in music. XD
    Loved Macedonia as well... :(

  23. Hii Anette :)

I think you should try and represent sweden for the eurovision :D you would do great!

  24. OPA!!
So nice that you support Greece Anette!!!
I loved the song from Russia, finland, Albania, Iceland (what a voice) and many many others!
finally you could listen to so many different and unique songs!

  27. LOL nobody liked Serbia!!! I'll have to agree with that, but if you could just understand the lyrics that would be LMAO!!! so hilarious!!!! they dont make any sense!!!
i actually didn't like any song that much, and i couldn't watch the whole show :(!!
about the OPA! i'll just say GREECE :)
i think there was some really good musicians!!!

Anette lots of love for you and your little angels from Serbia <3

P.S. I GRADUATED yesterday , i had my concert and everyone liked my performance, but i wasn't satisfied myself, i could do it better!!! i kind of played wrong notes few times :(!!
and the funniest part was when on my concerto my bow strings just cracked, so dramatic, like in movies LOL!!

  28. Hi A - Thanks for the ESC update.

I love watching the show even though the 'voting' is decidly dodgy to say the least.

After hearing the UK entry I can safely say we will not be winning!!! In fact I doubt we will get more than 10 points. There is more chance of me joining Nightwish than that awful noise written by Pete Waterman winning....

I would love to hear what your overall fancy to win would be ??

Njut av musik Och varma önskar -)) Peter

  29. Hi Anette!

  31. Hii Anette =D

Unfortunately I missed it yesterday =(, but there are reruns this weekend I think so i'll watch it then =D.
Holland is on this thursday, the girl who sings for us is called Sieneke, but I reaaally don't like that she went. The song is way too dutch for an international competition.

Anyways, tomorrow is also my 17th birthday!
And yay, just my luck I have an economics exam on that day as well XD.

    Have a nice day!
    Lots of love, Lisa <3

  32. It's soooooo sad that Estonia's song was so underrated and didn't make the way to final.. I just loved it! So different and fresh song for Eurovision.

My favorite was Serbia, he was so sweet and really different than some finnish guys. They are so finnish! :D But yes, Kuunkuiskaajat is so finnish but... Maybe not just for Eurovision Song Contest winner! It's sad too that they didn't go to final and it was a huge disappointment for finnish ESC fans.

  33. Hello, Anette!

Hope you are the baby are well? And your son?

I hate that in the US we don't get
to see these, I always have
to go onto the internet to see the
performances. But I do know that tonight
we find out who wins American Idol.
Which the last two in the show are so great,
    so it'll be really intense.

Hope you have a good evening!

    Hugs and love, Katie T.

I liked Slovakia's and Bosnia's one. But unfortunately , Slovakia was not chosen :/
Greece was really , hmmm... OPA! Hhhahhha :)
Real Greece rythm. Girl from Malta has a nice voice and the woman from Iceland. The Finnish song was really funny =)
Have you heard Croatian song?? If you did , how do you like it??

    Lots of hugs

  37. Hi Anette,

It's nice to hear the you also follow the contest a bit ^^

I mostly liked Slovakia from al the song. It still sticks in my head ^^
I also Liked Finland (As I'm a hudge lover of scandinavian country's. And Finland in a Special way) The song of Finland was nice, but not for the great european public. (maybe Nightwish should do better? Or Indica? to name 2 good bands in my opinion)

In My opinion those 2 county's could take place in the final! Russia and Belgium doens't belong in the final (And I'm from Belgium...)

I hope that Sweden gets in the Final ^^

    Xxx
    Lot's of love
