New gear

I went out and got myself sweatbands, new running socks and a new pair of shoes, so I can use two pairs and vary. Got a cool pair of Nike and they are sooo comfortable! I´ll try them tomorrow:=)

It´s been a totally boring rainy day here. Just no fun weather at all and it´s been like this for a whole weak now. And even if I always love spring and summer I have one thing that make me long for autumn already and that is thunder storms.

If I havent told you, I am incredibly terrified and phobic for thunder, big bangs, balloons, gun shots etc and this is a fear that really makes my life much less easy to live. I have tried every therapy there is, hypnose, humbugs and whatever and NOTHING has ever helped.

I have one big wish in my life that would make me feel like the happiest person there is and that is to get rid of my phobia. I might go and try some sort of therapy this summer again, even if I feel I´m forever doomed to have this fear, but I hope someone out there can help me and I´ll search to find him/her;=)

  1. Hej.

I know few people who are also afraid of thunders and so.. I kinda "like" it when it's storm while I'm sleeping/lying in bed when it's dark.. don't know why but.. :/ it's great to know you're in warm bed while outside is cold storm.

Good luck with finding help :)

  7. Congrats on your new pair of shoes, they look colorful and feminine:=)

They also seeem to be quite small...... what size of shoe do you take? 38/39 maybe? I ask you this because I've heard that runners usually wear bigger shoes for comfy run, for example if they take 38-daily shoes, then they buy 39or40-running shoes. Is that true?

  12. I fear storms too (both lightning and roar). I don't know where it comes from either. My family told me I loved them when I was a kid. Well, maybe I had a trauma or something XD

    All the best,

  13. Hi dear! As a student of psychology I can tell you there are so many ways of therapy. We discussed phobics a few semesters back at university.
And you have to find the best way to get rid of your problems. That's not easy. I think, the most important thing is to have a good and healthy relationship to your therapist. And secondly, of course, the therapy itself. I could do a little bit of research, if you'd like.

  14. I have quite a similar phobia - I thought I was the only one! An example: when I was working in a hotel a few weeks ago I had to go into a room where there had been a party, and someone had left balloons... seeing the cleaner go stamping towards them, I fainted dead away like a big wimp! I've tried all kinds of stuff to get over it so if you find anything I hope you'll post it on here, it's quite an embarrassing phobia to have.

  15. Hello Anette! I also have this fear, and I have never heard if anyone else who has it. I know people how are afraid of thunder, but they are afraid of the lightning however I dont mind that, I can't stand the loud bangs.

One thing which I hate is fireworks, I love to watch them but the sound makes
Me shake and I can't speak properly and the only way I can watch them is from a distance with my fingers shoved right in my ears! It's such a shame. I also remember doing an experiment in chemistry where the teacher set light to a hydrogen bottle which then exploded, it scared me so much it was just horrible.

Like you I wish I didn't have this phobia, I wish I could watch fireworks and enjoy them, I wish I wouldn't nearly be in tears when there is thunder or when a balloon bursts, and I wish I didnt have to shove my fingers in my ears at the beginning of concerts when music starts to play (it makes me jump at first, but then I get used to it).

Also, your shoes look awesome; very colourful!

  17. Have you tried hypnosis? I know that that is a scary idea in itself but I think it's supposed to work well for phobias.
    Take care.

  19. Hi Anette,
I hope you will find the way to get rid of your phobia soon.
I know how it feels. I am afraid of thunderstorms, especially of lightnings.
One of the worst memories of my life is connected to a thunderstorm, when on a canoe tour I found myself in the middle of a huge thunderstorm with lightnings all around us. The riverbank was not suitable for mooring so we had to stay in the canoe and row for a while. I was so terrified that I had to quit the tour on the next day.
An other thunderstorm related nightmare was when a few years after I had to sleep in a tent in a forest with lightnings around. It was not as bad as it was on the river, but I never ever want to be in the nature in the middle of a thunderstorm again although I know it might happen sometime since I just love being outdoors. :-S

Have a sunny rest of the week. ;o)
