Tour

Hi all,

So, time to write some words about how the tour is going after these first shows:=)

Well, it has been so great seeing so big audiences everywhere and even if every crowd is different you all have made us so happy and energized, which is needed when you do so many gigs and travel so much.

For me the tour has started good but I got the finger injury and also have had a bad flu that Tuomas had and I got it quite fast after starting this leg. I feel better now so thats good;=)

Being on tour always makes you tired and ill here and there and for me, as the singer, I of course feel a bit more stressed when I get a bug or get really tired and exhausted. Being on stage for 1h 45 min singing almost every night is a hard job and if you then have a bad throat or something that affects the voice, it makes it an ever harder job. But when you go out on stage and are feeling ill, just hearing you in the audience scream and sing along makes it much easier so just so you know - keep on screaming and sing - we love it!!

Tonight its Frankfurt and not the biggest crowd, like tomorrow in Zurich, but sometimes the smaller crowds actually are louder than the bigger crowds so we´ll see tonight;=)

Now I´ll rest and eat, I always meditate before a show to relax my mind and fill my energy levels. Then I put on my outfit, start doing make-up and 45 min before the show I start to warm up the voice. I sing all day to keep it open but the real warm up happens 45 min before.

We play at 20.45 most nights but some nights it´s 21 or 21.15 and I like the earlier nights more cause that makes me get more sleep before we need to travel to next place. Tomorrow its about 5,5-6 hours of drive so a bit early wake-up for me. I am that kinda person that needs at least 8 h of sleep to sing well and not be all cranky;=)

And this week we have our off-day in Milan and thats the off day I´ve longed for cause I´ll do some shopping there;=) Fashion mekka;=)

Ok, now you got a little update. Keep on rocking´and see you soon!

  1. It must be hard as it's so easy to catch bugs when you're travelling all the time. I would suggest you try Manuka Honey for your throat (if you haven't already). It's available in health food stores.

I always have it in my tea but it's great on its own or on toast. Just a teaspoon a day seems to do me good and I hardly ever get colds now.

Enjoy the rest of the tour!

  2. Good evening Anette :)
Rest is very important. It's not good for the health to run around 24/7. If I don't rest after a hectic school day for example, I'll spend part of the night lying awake with headache. I guess your tour schedule is not as hectic as the DPP one, is it? Enjoy the shopping in Milan. Hope you'll find loads of nice outfits. :)

  3. The live in Paris was my first live, and I was totally blown away by the show. I have regretted not having done the previous lives! You gotta hear this very often, but everything was beautiful, I hope you come back soon in Paris and you have loved France. Good luck with the rest of the tour.
    Thousand hugs!

  6. Hi ;) It's so great hearing from you! I'm going to see you guys (and you girl^^) in Nürnberg (Germany) and am absolutely looking forward to it! Have fun in Milan and try to recover a bit, and hint from a classical singer: relax your voice, stop singing during your free time.^^ ;) (By the way - big, big compliment: Your voice, stage performance and interpretational skills have incredebly improved since the last tour!) So rock on!

  8. My dearest!
I just came back from a raid to Assago (Milano). I needed to know the right entrance for me and to study the territory. I'll be there at 5 a.m. maximum on wednesday. I'm worried about the long run from the door to the stage. It's the moment in which my efforts will be nullified by younger and quicker people. But I'll try. Nobody will sing and shout like me. And I'm worried about... Ehm, what if I need the bathroom? Anyway... Please, could let us italian fans know if you guys will have some times for us after the gig? There are many people who would like to wait for you. Or the day after. Don't tell me I have to wait the whole day in Via Montenapoleone in the hope to meet you. XD Well, it would really help logistically if you could let us know something about your plans. I know us fans are a bit... Annoying... But... We looove you!!! \m/
May I bribe you with a free sushi dinner for five? :>

  9. Hello Anette! Thanks for this update!
First of all, I'm sorry to hear that you and Tuomas got the flu, but glad that you're better now! ^^
I can imagine how tiring is that, but it sounds worth it :)
I really can't wait to see you in Milan, and on Wednesday it won't rain... Seems you're bringing the sun ;) Have a great day buying clothes, see you in 2 days!

  12. Hey Anette, thank you for this tour update!

I was actually checking the latest gigs on YouTube, and I noticed your voice sounded a bit "tired", so now I know it's the flu. Still, great performances! Hope you get better soon! :-)

By the way, I wanted to say a big thank you for you and the band for choosing my video for 1st place in "The Crow, Owl and the Dove" contest!

Can't wait to meet you guys, you're awesome! :-)

  13. HELL-O dear Anette, before the critic let me tell you that you are like an Angel, I love your powerful voice, there is not any like you, you are not the cliche metal vocalist hehehe :D

    -My critic about the Tour:(

There are not "the classic songs" and there are a lot of commercial-ballads songs, like nemo, that song is commercial not a classic.
I think the people loves the classic songs too, just imagine the shock faces when they gonna hear beauty and the beast, elevenpath,The Riddler,Sacrament Of Wilderness, crownless,Bare Grace Misery, 10th men down is a damn classic!!!!, the wayfarer, bless the child, beauty of the beast, what about poet and the pendulum, sahara is a damn clssic. I MISS THIS SONGS SO MUCH ANETTE :(
I miss a good metal setlist, the are alot of ballads and everybody talk when the ballads are pleyed.
we are not connected I dont know why...
I think that a louder audience is for everywhere bigger or smaller but just with a good setlist, do you remember the bigger wacken? was epic and you were fantastic with your metal songs like sahara check this video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yVCiUTNTD4

your hep hep was epic, but when I hear the new version of come cover me, the hep hep!!! was missed :( the people is like meh

and I know that imaginaerum is a masterpiece but as I said to a friend, this album is so special that you can't hear it all the time, is very special at night but for a live concert just a few songs are pure energy :D the other songs are for a calm down momment :P

And there is something different in this 2012 shows, there is not conection with the people anymore and it feels like something is wrong.

We just miss the classic songs, is like a Metallica concert without master of puppets or kill'em all, you know!! their classics!!, if metallica plays only new songs will be the worst concert ever of this classic band, I see the same with nightwish, something is rare and we are not connected.

I hope this chance..for the next tour or shomething :D

good luck anette, I really love you.

  15. I know what you're feeling with your throat and your voice. I followed one of my favorite bands here in Belgium and the vocalist got a cold during the tour and he had something in his back too. He was suffering all the time... He got a lot of medication.

But keep on rocking girl ;D! You did a great job at Vorst Nationaal and the fans just love you. Hope you find a lot of beautiful clothes in Milan! Hope to see you soon again!!

  18. Hi Anette!
I can only imagine how difficult it is to deal with a tour, but I think that you are amazing and that you are doing a good job :D
I hope that now you feel better, that the fingers are ok and that the flu is gone!

So..Milan. FINALLY! I live near Milan and I can assure you that you'll have a great time there. It's a great city where I'm sure that you can do some shopping! Enjoy it ;)
See you at the concert \m/

  19. Hi Anette!
Glad the tour is going well! I was just wondering where you got the shiny silver leggings that you wore at the recent gig in Amsterdam (and I think there was a similar pair in Italy in 2009. I sing in a band that does metal covers of pop songs with an over-the-top hair metal image and they'd be perfect for stage costumes!

    Thanks, best wishes!
    xx

  22. Dear Anette,
I'm glad to read all this, that you enjoy tours even is they are quite exhausting. This Sunday I'll be there on your show in Budapest and I keep thinking about it because I'm having a difficult period of exams, so I can survive just because of you and the guys. Love you all so much. ^.^

I just wanted to ask you a question: What do you do when you have the flu? Is there something that you do that makes you feel better faster?

Oh and I will meet you in Montreal (VIP) in September, I'm really excited!

    Love,

  26. Hi!! Anette :D
this is my first comment in your blog :D

there is a kind of discussion in many forums about the set-list...
Is like an Once-Imaginaerum tour..only? cuz there are only songs of this albums... I support nightwish no matter what even in the bad moments of 2006, but I am an old fan and I want old songs too :( this is the once-imaginaerum tour.
it's like the half of nightwish, where are the other albums? and Nightwish is palying "come cover me" but a new version and dont get me wrong but I prefer the metal version, only with your voice!! this extra chorus sound like pop, the same with nemo, doesn't fit for me.
and there is not more hep hep :( what is happening?
At the end of the show I was I little disappointed :( I had to say it :(
there is not songs for the old fans, there is not place for us anymore :(

  27. Tack for the update!! I can't wait to see you all in Sept. My first Nightwish concert!! I am so excited!

  30. Hey Anette
Wow,your dress from last night in Zurich was breathtaking. You looked really amazing :-)
    Where did you buy it?
And I loved your voice singing "slow, love, slow". I got goose bumps. And "Scaretale", this song really blew me away. I think the new songs fit much better with your voice.

Thank you for a wonderful evening. You really made my day :-)

Frankfurt was amazing!!!One of the best Nightwish shows i have ever seen, and this was my 16th show!!! Only Helsinki in 2009 before the break was better!!! So i cant wait to see you in Budapest!! Yes we will come all the way from Germany to see Nightwish!!! Maybe you will see me and my girlfriend in the front, we both have red dyed hair and we will bring our germanflag with us!!! so keep on rockin!!!!

  39. The last concert was fantastic...Zurich / Switzerland April 24, 2012 ..BUT..

It's a cool show BUT it doesn't feel like a nightwish concert, the screen are very hypnotic :D and..the new fight is about the setlist, you can see it in the videos of the official nightwish youtube channel, every body is against Amaranth, come cover me and nemo etc..
but your version of Planet hell is perfect, some fans said that you only can sing the ballads but planet hell is the proof that they are wrong hehehehehehehehe you really can sing metal songs...
the show is great but maybe the setlist is boring for many others, fuck with them hehehe

    check this videos:

come cover me- the fans are not connected with this new version

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYDo1z_O35g

    taikatalvi-storytime: some critics said:

"storytime is not like bye bye beautiful cuz the lyric is rare, hehehe we dont want to sing "I am the voice of never never land" I prefer "did you ever read what I wrote you..." it's like a hymn for us hehehe and is not so long."

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV321ZvNMlE&feature=channel&list=UL

I dont know but for many fans is not the same energy and maybe the reason is the "setlist"
for me is good :D but..

    1. Hi Anette,
I was at Zurich tuesday night and it was wonderful ! I was afraid to be dissapointed of the big return of Nightwish on stage...but it was very nice and I was very happy to see you again...and the boys, of course ^^
Thank you for your music, thank you for all these magic moments with you and your music, your show ^^
See you again at Montreux !

  41. Good evening Anette,

I read some comments, and I have to say that some are very weird...
They say the setlist isn't good enough? I don't understand them, if they are not happy, do not come! The "goal" is to see you in live, no matter what songs are played, they're all good.

In Paris (and in all the other cities I guess) we had 18/19 songs, that is excellent!

So, don't give importance to these comments, people are never happy nowadays...

By the way, I saw the Imaginaerum trailer, and wow, looking forward to see it =)

Have a good night, dear !

  42. hi annette i am a huge fan of you, your voice is amazing and you seem to be a lovely person. as much as i'm enjoying this tour and love imaginaerum i have two flaws with it.
    1. on stage the band dont seem as happy anymore and dont connect with the fans, its not like dpp where you can find many videos of the band having fun in songs and between them and your hep hep really got fans going. nowadays it seems as though the band is heding for a split.

    2. the setlist for this tour is not good. the choices for older songs could be so much better except for planet hell its no my fav song since you do it hehehehe. but songs like wish i had an angel and amaranth are overplayed dark chest of wonders 7 days to the wolves eva sahara or cadence of her last breath should be bought back they are much more lively and make for a better concert.

anyway i still love the band and how you continuosly never cease to amaze vocally, but i hope what i say is considered and that ye tour to ireland soon :D
