Grey day

Its so grey and dark outside...the only thing I do is walk around yawning and longing for the bed;=) Luckily, soon Thailand and warm, sunny weather. I am longing so much!

Here in the studio things are getting along well so that´s nice, but I feel the energy is getting weaker and weaker and I know the dark december days are to blame. Maybe a strong lamp in the face to pretend I get some light? ;=)

Have a nice day!

  6. Hej Anette!

Yes, the loss of light is really a big problem in winter- also for me. I love long summer days so much more!
I just had an exam again and this time I nearly failed- just passed with luck... Well, I missed the days I was ill and then there were some other things that took away my time from the desk...Well, I finally passed.
Let us hope that the sunny days will come back soon!
I heard of persons who really have a light-therapy in winter for they become depressive from the loss of light. So the sun in Thailand will really be healthy for you :) Wish you good energy for the studio and that you can soon start in your well deserved holidays!!

  7. Hi Anette,

I can grasp what your feeling about it being gray and dark outside. WOW!! We got hit with lots of snow and rain on the east coast. I guess anywhere in the Northern territory it would be that way around this time of year. Maybe that trip to Thailand will do good for you especially around this winter season. It will surely relax and warm you up. Sometimes change of scenery would make a good therapy for the soul. I am probably going to the caribbean sometime next year. I really miss the family. Well, have a great day and cheer up and lots of hugs on these cold and ugly days.

    luv Fernando

  9. Hi A- I know the feeling!!! I have no motivation today and the weather in England is a grey blanket today. Hopefully the bike ride home will wake me up a little?? The herbal tea is just not doing it today -(((

Believe me you will love Thailand -))))

  10. Anette, I have one of those SAD lamps (http://www.day-lights.com) and let me tell you, it has made a HUGE difference in my life! My energy has increased and my sleep is much more regulated, and it's definitely helping my mood. So, I can highly recommend getting one if the really short days you have over there are affecting you so much.

  11. Hi Anette,

I actually enjoy the winter season, and I love the dark and cosy nights. I feel so much more energized and inspired. For me, it's the summer that makes me feel tired and lethargic. I know most people reading this might find it weird, but that's just the way I am. We're all different. And the world would be a boring place if we were all the same.

Enjoy the evening! Imagine yourself on the beach in Thailand. It's not far away now.

    Take care,
    Marie

  14. Hi Anette

The one vitamin my doctor insists people take, is Vitamin D. I'm in England now (from northern BC, Canada originally) and while not as bad as Sweden, we have huge problems getting enough sunlight to make Vit D during the winter - remember, we can't get it through diet! If you're feeling quite sluggish, you might be deficient - get yourself to a health shop and pick up a bottle of the stuff!

I had real problems last year, but this year I've been taking it since mid-October and I'm feeling really well.

  16. Hi Anette,
After a few days I have finally seen the sun. It is so depressing if it seems no sun. On overcast days, I like to go into a shopping mall, there are a lot lighter and I'm feeling better right then. wish you a beautiful day and love greetings from austria

  17. Oh, I know exactly how you feel! It's the curse of living on these latitudes -- if there was even snow it would be lighter but just this constant dark, dark, dark and rain and damp, chilly winds and... blergh! And those rare light hours you have to sit inside, in a grey, dusty office room, fighting against falling asleep every minute... A Thailand trip sounds like heaven -- I'm constantly dreaming of just walking out of my job and taking the first flight that leaves from Helsinki to _anywhere_, just as far as possible from this midwinter death... :p Hellsinki is worth its nickname at this time of the year, that's sure! :D

Have you tried those special bright-light lamps or taking extra large doses of vitamins? Might help -- at least I've heard positive comments from my friends... Anyways, tsemppiä, and may dreams of warm, sunny Thai beaches, relaxing, delicious food and good company give you strength to live through this time! ;)

  18. Sounds like you love sunny and hot weather. That's great :)
We almost don't have those dark days here. It's always around six day hours and six night hours along the whole year.
But I think I would love the northern seasons you have there. I never saw the sun rise so early in the morning or set late at night.

Have a great afternoon and evening. Good luck!

  19. Hey Anette!
Here in Germany the sun came out today, but it was very cold, 'though...
I'll fly to Brazil in ten days ;=) I'm really, really looking forward to it, 'cause a big part of my family lives there, but I think it'll be very strange to celebrate christmas on the beach...
Well, moreover I like the cold, dark days in winter very much. This melancholy makes me even more creative ;=) But anyways, I'm looking forward to Brazil...
    Have a very nice evening!

  20. Good evening Anette! Yeah, dark weather days are here constantly across all Europe, and the sunset happens at a very early hour... Clouds and cold are unavoidable, but hey Christmas will be right here in a couple of days. I'm eager to buy presents!

    Have a good evening ^^

  22. Winter sucks so much indeed. :(
I don't know how the weather is over there, but here in Romania it's not exciting at all, not only is it cold and cloudy, but we didn't get a single snowflake this year and I really doubt we soon will. It would be more comforting if we knew the chill weather came along with a beautiful scenery of snow-covered trees.
Anyway, I think the best remedy for this kinda weather is having lots and lots of hot drinks! Delicious hot chocolate in the morning, a nice glass of mulled wine with cinnamon before going to bed (and it helps to fall asleep easier too!) and tea any time of day! My personal favorite is Rooibos tea with Vanilla, and if you haven't tried it yet, I strongly recommend it. Not only is it delicious and it doesn't even need too much honey to sweeten it up, but it's really healthy too, no caffeine, has anti-cancer effects and apparently it also has some antioxidants for good skin or so. So, not only a delicious taste, but also huge health support!
Have a nice evening and sleep well!

  23. Hey Anette,

yes, today it's a really grey day. My head hurt so much, but now it's okay.
Yesterday I let irradiate my face of a lamp.
That was soooo good. You should do that to.
I have fallen asleep and have dreamt that I am on the beach.I could switch off so properly and forget all my worries.
I come along awfully provide around my cat.
Her name is Smordie.Yes, a very original name =).
She was away nearly two weaks! Monday night she came again and was injured.Yesterday we have gone with her to the veterinarian and then it was X-rayed.And then came out that she has broken the last lumbar vertebra. He is connected with the basin. The veterinarian said that she has a survival chance of 50 per cent. She is not able in toilet. If you know what I mean. And now, therefore, we must go every day with her to the veterinarian who expresses to her the uric bubble and gives her purge.

But the worst one is that one must look with at how the beloved animal torments himself. We wait one more week and if she is not better, we must probably put to sleep them. This makes me very sad and so I try, probably last time which we still have to be of use.But one should never lose hope.
I know that she is a fighter. I hope that she will get over it. This would be at the moment my biggest wish for her. Even if it will be hindered then, but she will live. Her legs are almost paralyzed, however, she can live and does not torment herself.

aybe I am able to do a picture of her in the internet.
If you wanted, I can tell you how this has gone out.
I love cats. When I came to school, I have got my first cat.She was called Mariechen and she looked like a small cow.
I have firmly planned if I go in pension, I will breed cats.

How are your other two sweet cats called, actually?

I've got an other question: Do you want to go in the new film ''New Moon'' ?
The story about Bella, Edward and Jacob?
    Do you know that?
I wann go to the cinema in the next time.
I watched the first part and I found it very good.

    =)
Are you living in Katrineholm now? Or where are you living?
Maybe next year I will make holdiys in Sweden..
Do you know a good place to stay? And in which month?

    Oh yes.. many questions..
    Pardon me.. =)

    Have a nice day.
    Big warm hug ♥

  25. Grey day, that's nothing new. I'm slowly getting used to this greyness. Scary ;)

I got the swineflu vaccine on monday and my hand is still sore. Yesterday I had a bit fever.. I love the side affects of the vaccine. The worst side affect is that I can't sleep on my left side because my hand is so sore. And I just can't sleep on my back (don't know why, but it has never felt comfortable) so I have to sleep on my stomach or on my right side.

    Good night! =)

  31. we are always driving to a spa to enjoy ourselves, if we can not deal with the weather.

drinking a cup of selfmade hot chocolate (mady of chocolate easter bunnies ^^), go shopping, going to the solarium and eating kilos of fruits and vegetables help us a lot during grey periods.

and especially this one: dancing in underwear to really cool music through the appartement. doesn't matter, if the neighbours are gazing through the windows. it's just too cool, to not to be done.

you are great! have a nice evening! and a pleasant and successful week(end)!

  32. Yeah, I think everyone's tired and the weather's the cause. Today it started out
not too cold outside, then it was
raining an hour later, 3 hours later it
was windy and snowing, then 2 hours
later it's so windy! Gotta love Ohio's
    unpredictable weather...not, grrr...

Take a hot bath, with some flower
scented candle and close your eyes. You'll
    think you're on a beach!

Hope you get your energy positive again soon!

    Hugs and love, Katie T.

  34. Hej Anette,

it has been a while since I last read your blog because I have been busy with a lot of things that needed to be done because of my fathers death. But I didn't forget about the mail you send me, thank you so much for it. I started singing again and I try to use all the emotions, I think it works well so thanks alot for the advice. Recently I have been invited to a training session in spring but I am not convinced whether I will follow the invitation or not it's a class dedicated to university students with opera as a major :(. Well at least it would be free. I also have been working on my Swedish skill thus I will be able to talk more ;).
Scanning the past entries of your blog I had the impression that you were upset with some comments. I hope that the positive ones outnumber the negative ones. Apart from all the thank you's I also have a hint for you on how to survive the Swedish winter (which is even harder for a foreigner than for a native). A friend of mine bought himself a "daylight lamp" dagsljuslampa :). These are great but some are a bit pricy.
I googled two links for you the first one looks better but costs more as the second one.
    http://tinyurl.com/vippon
    http://tinyurl.com/dagsljuslampa

I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmastime. Enjoy the season and relax ;)

    Warm wishes

  35. A strong lamp in the face, sound exactly like the thing I could need, too - and here it's supposed to stay light at least until four o' clock x_X
Though I guess there's the danger of getting blinded.

Try to remember - brighter days will come and spring follows the winter. :3

I wish you lots of fun in Thailand, though that would be nothing fo me. I'd rather go to Sweden now - with a big pocket lamp ;)

  36. Dear Anette,

yeah this constant grey weather makes one feel really tired and without any energy:(

I think your Thailand trip is gonna be great ...and I can imagine that you can't wait to finally get there and enjoy the lovely weather and all the other nice things from there!

Tomorrow is my last school day of this year, because begining from Saturday we have the winter break and I'm so looking forward to it!
This final high school year it's been exhausting so far and it's gonna be even worse, because shortly after New Year the first part of the final exams will start...and I'm so stressed already!

Hope you've had a good day! I wish you a great evening!

    Love,
