this is beautiful, and i'm glad i finally know what the day is about!
my singing group at New York University is singing a version of 'Godmorgon mitt herrskap' for our winter concerts this week (there is a woman in the group from Stockholm!). It is such a lovely song - but difficult to learn the Swedish pronunciation.
anyway, I hope you have a wonderful holiday :D <3 Rachel
Good morning Anette:) So nice of you to provide the link to Wikipedia about St. Lucy's Day...I'll call it learning something new every day, at least for me anyway. Again, thank you! Enjoy the day! lots of love Gary

my church taught the kids about St. Lucy's Day. it was very fascinating! (we tried to make cookies that looked like the buns, but they all ended up burnt. but it was fun. ^_^)
thanks for the link! I wanted to read more about St. Lucy's Day. :)
Thanks for the link Anette. I did not know about this tradition. My mother, Lucy, died last year due to a surgery. She was a big Nightwish fan, so it makes me comfortable to know that you comemore a date with her name, even though this wasn't the initial purpose. Nightwish music has helped me a lot during these difficult times (I was 13 at that time).
