So, we are heading to London in february and this time with little Nemo. Since I dont know any good places to grab a coffee with a baby, find good nursing rooms in the city, where to find Burberry and other nice childrens clothes etc, I ask those of you living in London or around it to give me your best tips;=)
Also, if you have any good cab company that can be pre-ordered with a baby seat to take Nemo safely to the hotel etc, that is appreciated.
So, any kinda good tips for our trip is really appreciated;=) Hit me!
Hi Anette

Hej Anette, thanks a lot for all these new posts. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish i could help you better for London, but i could tell you at least about Baby Dior in Sloane Street (i don't know the exact location, but Vuiton is almost on the opposite side of the street). They have wonderful clothes for babies! (it's the view i have from my godfather's living room, lol)
If you still need some infos after janurary 1, i'll hask to my godfather and his wife, they could be helpful... :)
*hugs*
Steff
Hi Anette
ReplyDeleteI don't live near London hense myself flying down also, but I have a few members who are from there so I will make sure they see your post.
If you struggle for a cab company let me know. I have a good friend with a car and baby seat in London if needed (don't know any cab companies where I live that supply baby seats thats why).
Plenty good coffee places I've heard. I'll get names for you and how far from hotel.
Need anything let me know, being in UK I can bring anything you may need for Nemo etc a lot easier than you from Sweden.

ReplyDeleteHi Anette
ReplyDeleteI live in Switzerland but I really love to be in London, so I know, that there are several Burberry Shops.
The address for Childrenswear is:
199 Westbourne Grove.
The nearest Underground Station should be "Notting Hill Gate", I think.
Last time we've been in London, we found this huge n impressing toy store, but I can't remember the name. As soon as hit hits my mind, I'll let you know.
Enjoy your trip.
Lots of love
Sarah

ReplyDeleteHi anette!
ReplyDeleteI went to London 6 times, and I love this place sooo much!
For Nemo, you HAVE to go to Hamley's! The biggest toy's store I've ever seen! I'll post you some photos later...
For a coffee, we always go to Starbuck cause we don't have it in south of france...
For clothes, you HAVE (:p) to go Harrods if you don't know this shop (amzing!) and there you could find everything you want, every brands you want! There's also a huge "room" called "Christhmas world" all the year and it's soo beautiful. You could fing a lot of decoration with the english flag!
So I'll think about where you may go in London and post it later with photos =)
BTW, today I found a nice thing for Nemo that I want to send you =) but I can't remember if I have to write your name first or after the management. Sorry for that, I know you wrote it few times!
So have a nice day!
Love & Hugs!
Océane
I went to London last week! A nice place were you can find a lot of cool clothes and many more things is of course Harrods =)
ReplyDeleteI think you will be recording in Abbey Road, arent you? I wrote "Nightwish" on the wall last week haha
I've been to london and I think Harrods is a must see, they probably have children's wear too, but I'm not sure. I went there to see the store, but the prices are a bit (much) out of my league :p
ReplyDeleteMaybe Oxford street?
I hope you get more accurate responds than mine though :)

Hi Anette! I can share some London information with you.
ReplyDeleteSince you have the new iPhone, there's an app in the App Store completely dedicated to London for anyone who needs places with coffee, lunch, dinner, tourism, services... everything!
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lonely-planet-london-city/id315598273?mt=8
A few days ago it was free, but now it costs $5.99, I downloaded it to my iPod touch when it was free (along with the Stockholm, Paris and other free apps, since the provider, Lonely Planet, is so very good at city guides). I think it doesn't need Wi-Fi when launching the app, so you can carry all the information with you in the iPhone and you won't need any papers in your hands, just the iPhone :)
I hope it helps, I tried that app some days ago and to me it was perfect.
Have a nice day :D

I love London , I live nearby :)
ReplyDeleteCoffee wise , the big chains like Starbucks and Costa are baby friendly and normally have baby seats etc.
Most restaurants and big shops have mother+baby cleaning facilities in :)
shopping wise Oxford Street has lots , Westfield shopping centre has alot of designer and high end shops and is a beautiful place to visit. For little one off shops and boutiques -Camden is a good place for that and also Carnaby Street.
Taxi wise Im not sure as I also use the underground ha!
Please let me know if I have helped in any way at all :)
Happy new year and have fun in London :)
Amy xx
Hey Anette,
ReplyDeletewhere are going to spend the New Years Day? Will you spend it with your family or with a friends? Unfortunately tomorrow i will stay at home but this evening i'm going out to have dinner with my friends. At least i will have a bit of fun! Stay home is boring. :(
I will write you tomorrow after mid-night for the wishing you a good 2001!
Have a nice evening!
Bug hugs
ARGH... postponed dinner!
ReplyDeleteMY USUAL BAD LUCK!!! XD
Hi Anette, I'm a Londoner but don't own a taxi company as you'd like, unfortunately... but I think there's a Burberry store on Regent Street, (near Oxford Street) along with many other designer stores which you might like to visit. (: They also have many coffee shops and restaurants in the area, but try to avoid going there in the evenings or weekends because it gets really busy and quite frustrating to get from place to place.
ReplyDeleteFeel free to ask me anything else and I'll try to help! I hope your trip to London is an enjoyable one indeed. (:

Anette
ReplyDeleteGetting someone off the website to write a list of nice places with directions and ease with pram etc.
I'll add how far from the hotel these places will be (walking/cab needed for eg)
So far I have not found a cab company who have their own baby seats, but I'm still trying.
Will email it via the way I've used before as easier that way just to forward :)
Hopefully it will be helpful
I used to be a Londoner but moved 4 years ago! :P
ReplyDeleteYou won't be short of Starbucks in London! I think this service runs baby seating if needed http://www.londonblack-cab.com/aboutus.html
Might be a case of phoning around and asking different companies. If you're ever in trouble in the taxi department in England, ring 118 118...they should sort it out.
I'm in London in February with a College trip. Might even bump into you.. ;) Haha
Best wishes, Ryan.
this is just something while I finish the list
ReplyDeletehttp://www.exclusiveairports.com/ provide baby seats if required

Hi Anette, enjoy your trip to London.
ReplyDeleteSome shopping suggestions:
You will find Burberry on Regent Street or Brompton Road, Knightsbridge. The department stores, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Harrods also carry them (along with a host of other designers, of course) all are well worth a visit. The children's clothes department in Selfridges is fairly average, you would have better luck in the other two.
For you, rather than the little one, my favourite department store is Liberty (http://www.liberty.co.uk/) it is housed in a beautiful Tudor style building and they carry slightly different labels and more edgy pieces than the others. There is a tea shop on the ground floor, with nice cakes. It tends to be busy at lunch time but it's a good place to go mid-afternoon.
There are some nice shops on South Molton street (just off Oxford Street) There are at least 3 children's shops (Petit Bateau, Catamini and Tartine et Chocolat)and for you a great designer store called Browns Focus. There are also plenty of cafes along there.
Hope all this has been helpful! :)
Anette,
ReplyDeleteSadly I live in the US and have never left the country so I can't tell you anything about London. But that picture you posted is gorgeous! When you guys go to London please post some pictures if you take any while you're there! :D
Take care,

HI Anette,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family! I am really looking forward to both Yövissy new album and hearing your solo music.
About London: try the Rainforest cafe even tough it is a bit of a tourist trap. But I'm sure Nemo will like it :) It is close to Picadilly Circus.
There are some really nice playing grounds to take a swing or just to look at children playing. One is Princess Diana Playground in Hyde park.
A big and beautiful shopping center is Westfield where I'm sure you'll find lots of beautiful stuff for all of you, Disney store among others (Tube line Circle, get off at Wood Lane).
Enjoy London!
Ua
Hello Anette !!
ReplyDeleteWoow London !! Great place :D
I never left Portugal,so i cant help you :(
But im sure you and your family will be very happy,Nemo will love it :D
Enjoy London :D
Kisses and Hugs from Portugal

I'm a Londoner so hopefully I can be of some help.
ReplyDeleteOne of the biggest taxi firms is Addison Lee. I'm not sure if they provide baby seats but they're generally helpful and I'm sure if you ask they'll see what they can do.
https://www.addisonlee.com/services/minicabs/
If they can't help, then we have a service where you text a number and the three nearest cab firms numbers are sent to you.
To do that you text 'CAB' to 60835.
If you need anymore information about getting around London the TFL website is usually very useful: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
In terms of soft play areas, I remember a lot of sports centres having them but I don't know about one's more central I'm afriad. There are naturally, outdoor play areas in most parks though.
Other tips would be:
Avoid Oxford Street on a Saturday/Sunday if you want to move. Best times to go are either early or late on a weekday before it gets so busy you can't move.
There's is indeed a burberry shop on Regent Street, which isn't too far from Hamleys which is also worth a visit.
The south bank is fantastic to have a walk along too, especially around dusk as it has such a great view.
Westfield is okay as a shopping centre, though there's really not much there that you wouldn't find in oxford street.
There's also the museums that can be great for something to do on a not so nice day. British musuem, Natural History and Science Museums are probably the best ones.
Plenty of green space, you can pretty much walk through from St James' Park, Green Park, to Hyde Park.
Couple of other interesting places include Greenwich with the observatory, meridian line and planetarium and Crystal Palace Park with it's dinosaurs!
Hopefully some of that will be useful!
You must visit Camden. They have lots of little 'alternative' shops selling cool gothic stuff. I always manage to find a kooky outfit there. Also, Covent Gardens is a nice place for the family with little shops and places to eat.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about london, only went there the once when i came to see you guys in 2009:) But i agree with everyone who has recomended Camdon Town. It's brilliant, the haggling, bartering and incredible energy makes me think of a medieval bazaar or something. And the products are brilliant! Lots of hand crafted items too so they all have a sense of personality about them.
ReplyDeleteHope you and yours are having a great year so far:) And heres to the forthcoming album! xx
