Today I have been Santa´s little helper and have gotten all the x-mas gifts for Seth and Nemo;=) And even if I dont like X-mas that much, I love getting gifts for others. I can´t reveal today what I got for them but I will tell you when they have opened them of course.
I started my morning by painting my nails in a nice x-mas colour from OPI. I am a nail-biter so I dont have any nice long nails and if I dont paint them I bite them down immediately. And my hands look dry and old so I think it´s time to start caring about them. I have never been a person who moisturizes my hands with creams and stuff but I really think they look horrible at the moment, so if you have any advices how to make them look fresher, please let me know;=)
After the x-mas shopping, we ate waffels and it was so good! Put some Brie cheese, smoked salmon, red onion, sour cream, avocado and a shrimp mix on it and yummie!
Now it´s time to read for Seth and then I´m gonna get my exercise with the lovely kettlebell. Get the pump going!
Enjoy the evening!
Good evening dear Nettie, how are you?? I hope everything is ok =)
ReplyDeleteYou look sooo cute on the picture. I like that dark red color =). Oh, you are not the only one..I also bite my nails..I know it is such a bad habit...-.-
Yummie!!! Waffels!!! They look sooo delicious!!!
Wish you a nice evening
Love
Ena :*
Good night Anette!
ReplyDeleteYour problem is so familiar to me cuz i have been a nail-biter for a long time. I am TRYING to keep them quite long now and yes, always coloured. But after years of eating them they seem to be weak and not really good looking. They need lots of time to get its perfect shape and get not that thin and breakful....
What about dry hands..I have dry hands in winter time only. So its now exactly. All I use is a nice soft creams. I can't advise you exact ones since i Live in Russia and use mostly russian ones and I am sure you don't have these ones out there. All I know about Nivea is that I don't like that..my hands don't get smoother anyhow after this so it doesn't work.
It must contain some oils in it and glycerin ;) these two make all work about moisturizing hands. And the Vitamin E must ne there also. This is all .....
ATM i am having a nice cream with chamomile and it works perfect :)
Good evening dear,
ReplyDeleteabout the nails i don't have them long becuase with the contact lens make me annoyed and i'm afraid that they can scratch or breaks. In a winter i have a cream for my hands my i'm not a lover of it. I like so much the color of your nails. The waffel seems to be very good. I can tell you that i love avocado milkshake. You can try do make it but it have it be mellow.
Enjoy your evening too!
Hugs
The waffle looks really strange for me. I know only the sweet version with sugar, vanilla sauce or eggnog and all this stuff, but when it tastes. So maybe i will try it someday.
ReplyDeleteI could only tell you some german products which i know and which are good. But that won't help you so... what is good for your hands: much handcreme and then with the hands in some special care gloves, so that the creme can 'hold' in your hands.
Maybe it helps a little bit :)
And a nice nailpolish it fits very well with the red hair.
Greetings, me ;-)
Hi, Anette!
ReplyDeleteI was a nail-biter till the last year, and I found the solution painting my nails with garlic-polish nail. You can buy it in any beauty store, or make it in home with a transparent polish and garlic. You have to pound a garlic clove in very little pieces and put it inside the jar of polish. Let rest one day and after, paint your nails with two layer and let dry. If you want, you can put one layer everyday to prevent bite the nails. It tastes horrible, but works, and with the time, you will let this annoying habit.
It requires patience and constancy, but it worth ;-)
Lucky, you can!!

Hey Anette! Nice to read you again.
ReplyDeleteI totally love your nails color and think that I'm going to buy one similar for me, because I use a dry red once in a while. I prefer my nails in black or violet.
I can imagine the little ones in x-mas... I'm sure they will be so happy with their gifts, but the most important thing is being with the ones you love, that's the spirit (:
I'm hearing you singing Meadows of Heaven, wonderful song!
Have a beautiful evening!♥
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteI think this might help your dry hands problem. Before going to bed and making sure you don't have to do anything and touch stuff and all, apply a thin layer of liquid vitamin E to your hands, just as if it were a regular cream. If you don't find it, just get some vitamin E capsules and crack them open with a needle and squeeze out the liquid onto your hands.
Olive oil might also work, or a mask made of mashed strawberries or bananas.
I hope it works for you and have a great day!

My friends tell me I'm real vampire or zombie XD My mum uses some creams for hands and nails but i hate it.. I don't know why, but I hate that feeling ^^
Enjoy your evening :)

ReplyDeleteHi! This is the first time I comment on your blog.
ReplyDeleteAbout the dry hands. I use a thick handcream (Essex, sold in Finland) and put on a pair of cotton gloves when I go to bed. Hands are pretty soft in the morning. Sadly this doesen't last very long if you have to wash your hands quite often, as you do when you have a baby :(
Hi Anette!! :D
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute in the photo! And I love your nails! May I ask where you buy OPI polishes? Do you order it on the internet?
By the way, I love your rings! they look so cool!
Every time winter comes I have the same problem with dry hands, so what I do is I buy a hand moisturizer for example from a French makeup company called YvesRocher (I highly recommend it, all natural cosmetics, creams, etc) or Vaseline and rub it into your hands and fingers just work it in, and then get a pair of gloves or something to put on your hands so that the air doesn't dry it out. This works best if you do it before bed so that you can sleep with the gloves on.
I have also found this very helpful, so hope it helps: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/275392/how_to_heal_your_dry_hands_and_keep.html
Hope I helped at least a little!
Enjoy your day or evening :)

Hi Anette !!
ReplyDeleteOh my god ! I'm a nail biter too !!! It's so horible as habit ! I hate to do it, i don't have hands as feminine as i want it to be...
But !! One month ago, i stopped bitting my nails for a while and i put a ring on a finger and it was so beautiful that this habit immediately died in my mind, if i can say so =) And now i'm very happy about my hands, i can finally buy beautiful rings =D
I wish you a good evening and a good night with sweet dreams =)
Lots of hugs !!
Good evening Angel,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thank you very much for the Blueberry Pie and Vanilla Sauce recipe this morning. It looks absolutely delicious. Actually, thank you for all of the wonderful recipes that you have given us. You are so kind to do so, and they are always so lovely. So, about the nails and the hands, firstly, I adore the nail polish you used. It was a wonderful choice, truly very beautiful :). As far as biting them, I suppose keeping nail polish on them is one way to prevent yourself from biting them. However, especially if the nail polish is not natural and/or organic, your nails will not strengthen or grow healthily because the nail polish prevents them from breathing, and lack of air causes them to be frail and flaky, which is why you should typically give your nails a rest from the nail polish every week or so.
As far as your hands, I can only recommend keeping a bottle of lotion handy to apply several times a day. I cannot recommend a certain brand because I live in the USA, but I can say getting an organic one would be the best choice. Also, make sure to dry your hands immediately after getting them wet and reapply the lotion after they are dry. This is very crucial. And I would advise reapplying the lotion after getting them cold as well. If you consistently keep up with this, you should have success.
Well, that is my advice, I hope it is somewhat helpful :).
I the pray the rest of your evening and warm and lovely, and that you sleep well tonight when the time comes.
May God Bless you and your family :).
With all of my love and warmest of wishes,
Alexstrasza
Hello Anette!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you have dyed your hair black again. They make you look so cute and a little younger I think.
And nice nail colour!:-) I love painting my nails, I have a lot of crazy colours. I show my mood with my nail colour.:-D
But a few years ago my nails were pretty bad, really thin and also fragile. Than I found a great nail balm, and even I have my nails painted almost all the time and I use a polish remover very often, it keeps my nail strong and healthy and also gives them a nice shine. I guess it's only available in my country, cause the label is ours, but you can always try.
http://www.saloos.cz/bio-karite-do-kapsy
It's the last one, the pink one with hands on the cover. It literally saved my nails. If you'd like it, I can buy it for you and send you to Sweden;-).
Another suggestion for your hands, here's what works for me:
http://www.loccitane.se/shea-butter-hand-cream,25,2,1763,30149.htm (I found it on sweedish L'Occitane page for you:-))I had a problem with dry skin too and this really helps me. Almost all of the L'Occitane products are great for me, but this one is top. It moisturizes immediately, smells nice and don't leave your hands too oily.
And before it, I use (about twice a week) this hand scrub from Body Basics:
http://www.body-basics.info/en/products/hand-and-feet-care/hand-milks/milk-hand-scrub-150ml.html
I love the smell, and it leaves the hands nicely soft. Than I apply the cream and my hands are just lovely.:-D
Last great thing, if you don't want to buy anything, olive oil is great. It has to be extra virgin, but it works perfectly for the whole body, even the face skin. I use it for my body skin every evening, just a little bit and rub into the skin. It makes the skin soft as baby's.:-) I use it also as a night face moisturizer and works fine. But since I don't like the feeling of oily hands, I prefer L'Occitane cream for them. But a lot of my friends told me it works for the hands and nails too.
So, that's my suggestion. Sorry it took so long:-). Let us know what worked for you, please.:-)
Have a lovely evening, hugs and positive energy for you and the whole family. Hope you're healthy and happy.:-)
Hej Anette!
Ha en trevlig jul!
/Veronika
That picture looks like that you would have leaned over Nemo's bed and given his forehead kiss with your fingers :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I used to bite my nails. But nowadays I don't do that anymore. Can't remember what made me stop, perhaps my mother :D
But I do have a tendency to wash my hands too often. And the result to the washing is that my hands dry. For the dryness I use a hand cream that moisturizes. After that my hands look normal again. I can't remember what kind of cream was it and either if it would be helpful for you, Anette. It was some kind of basic moisturizing cream.
hey Anette, very good evening to you :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute photo and yummie food on the pics! :)
I'm not a nail-biter but my nails are just very fragile :( I dunno whether you tried it or not, but there are some special nail polish for nail-biters, they're very bitter by taste and are usually used for little children to teach them not to bite nails :) you may try it both for you and little Nemo.
Hehe, I'm sure your boys will like all the presents! I guess they love Christmas like almost every child does. Does Seth believe in Santa?))
As for your problem with dry hands.. since I live in a country where winters are pretty harsh (Russia) and wet climate and strong winds of Saint Petersburg leave their impact too, I feel myself like an expert in moisturizing and caring about bad hands' skin)). First of all, use some soft hands scrub to get rid of old and dead skin (e.g. Lumene C+ Age Defying Radiant Body Scrub or any other you know, and if you have some chaps because of the snow and cold, that will help you even more), then warm some olive oil and make a bath for your hands. The temperature mustn't be very high since you shouldn't destroy your hands. Such a bath will strengthen your nails and "feed" them, and your hands skin will become soft and very tender without any wrinkle or chap (with time, ofc, perfection needs some time :)). For immediate helping effect you may try newest Lumene creme - Lumene Sensitive Touch SOS Creme 5 minutes. It's made specially for damaged winter skin. As people above already mentioned, use Vitamin E (put it on skin and also eat vitamins) and some good mousturizing creme or coctaile (e.g.,Lumene Vitamin C+ Dry Skin Comfort Radiance Cocktail (it's for face but works nicely for my own hands too) or Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Creme) and then special cotton gloves (put them on by night).
And since you mention your hands look old you may try some anti-aging programme. Try Clarins Age Control Hand Lotion, or especially Clinique Stop Signs Hand Repair, it contains green tea, apple, cucumber and heather and make hands look younger and softer, reduces wrinkles and damages and whitens skin, also softens cuticules.
All in all you may also try any moustirizing creme containing cucumber, it freshens the skin and also posesses some anti-aging effect/reduces pigment marks.
I'd recommend you to start using these kind of cremes daily from now on, since the problems appeared. Start caring now and it will be easier to take care of them later.
Oh, you may also use aloe, just squeeze the butter out of it and put on hands, it has some healing effect and contains vitamins. The older the plant is the better.
Hope the advice given will help you a lot!
sorry for long rant,
and have a warm and nice evening and night!
With love,
Lerren
Almost have forgotten to mention - the picture is so sweet, cute and so about how cosy to be at home preparing for a celebration Christmass...

Hi Anette. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for Christmas! Only a few more days... :)
Also you look gorgeous in the picture, and I LOVE that color nail polish. I really need to paint my nails again. I bite my nails too, and I hate it. It's become more of a habit lately...grr.
Anyways, it's nice to hear that you're doing well. As always, best wishes!
Lauren
Good morning Anette:)
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to be finished with Christmas shopping, I have a few more things to pick up in the next couple of days before I can think that about myself.
A very interesting waffle, it sure looks like it could be yummie!
Have the best day possible, and enjoy!
lots of love
Gary
I love that nail colour - really pretty and great for the Christmas season! My nails are short too, but they have to be because I'm a cellist. However, I find a bit of colour on my nails makes my hands look much prettier and more polished than with just bare nails. OPI is the best!
ReplyDeleteAs far as dry hands, I'm very particular. I will put lotion on my hands after almost every time I wash them. I just find soaps so drying and with the cold weather, it's even worse. I really like lotions with vitamin E, for extra-dry skin, and preferably unscented so it doesn't interfere with my perfume.
Thanks for your blog - it's so fun to read it! I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas :)
Anette,
ReplyDeleteYour nails look awesome! Great color choice!
Can't wait to see how Seth and Nemo loved their gifts! :D
Have a great evening! ^_^
Take care,

Hi Anette! Sorry that I haven't commented in such a long while. I've been busy with school and my studies. I hope that you and your family are doing well, and I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteP.S. The waffles look great, and I use that same type of nailpolish! Great minds think alike! :)
Hey Anette!
ReplyDeleteThe colour looks really beautiful!
I have exactly the same problem as you: I'm a nail-biter, too and I also don't care too much about my hands.
I try to use cream every evening, but I often forget it and I don't even like using creams, so I also don't know what to do...
The waffel looks also very good ;=) I love to eat them just with some powdered sugar...
Hugs & Love
Have a great day!
Kim-Noêmia
Hi Anette ! :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you look sooo adorable on the picture ! :D
I always go to the nail salon, because my nails are always so thin and fragile... It's a bit expensive, but I just love long nails, so I just HAVE to go ;D
And about your hands... I would try a hand-peeling. I use one now and then and it really helps. My hands are always looking much better and smoother after using it.
If you dont want to buy a peeling, you can also mix a bit olive oil with a bit sugar. -> Same effect ! After the peeling, you can use a nice handcream with vitamin e .
Hope that helps !! :))
Love, Hayley
It could be internal, or a manifestation. Ex: Let's say something less than best is happening in your life, and it shows up as a problem in or on your body. I recommend using home remedies with natural ingredients.

Hello Anette))))) I have a nice advice for you to make you nails stronger- use smart emal nail hardener from frenchi
