Friday;=)

Hi all,

Friday again and its as usual nice;=)

Yesterday we recorded a song and for those of you who wonder how it is to sing when pregnant, it is a bit harder. For me, its not so hard in the lower register but when belting it takes so much power and breath which I really could feel yesterday was hard. And also, depending on where the baby lies in the belly, it matters.

When I carried my son I sang all the pregnancy through and it worked, but it was the breath that was hard. And this little baby in the belly lied really tricky yesterday and didnt want to move, so it was a bit hard. But we continue another day again;=)

  2. I could imagine it's hard to sing while being pregnant. And the middle of the pregnancy is probably not the best time as well...
Maybe you could use a bit more your lower voice, it would sound really interesting - and for what i've heard really good too, i'm always amazed when you voice sounds low. BTW, how many octaves could you do? Just out of curiosity...

  4. Hej Anette!
I'm sure your little baby is so pleased to hear you singing :-) You know, babies in the belly can hear their mum's voice and it's very important to them. So your singing is surely very good to her/him! :-) Lucky baby, surrounded by love and music :-)
I also wish to thank you for being always so positive and nice to us and to life! :-)
    Hugs!

  6. Well it sounds like it would be hard
for singing, when you have a different way
of breathing while singing then you do
for breathing and talking. But I've seen
Doctor's talk about how hearing the mother's
voice talk and sing does something
for the baby...I forget what but it's
supposed to be good or something...
So thank god you love to sing!

Speaking of talking, the radio interview
you did before Hartwall, at the
Finnish radio X3M? Some one had recorded
it and it's on Youtube, and you crack me up
girl! I love how you talk, and then the
    facial expressions and movements,
you were so cute and funny!

Anyway, so today at school I tried to
donate blood, but they wouldn't let
me because I have a headache-
which I've had since I fell yesterday.

But tonight I'm going to see
"Alice in Wonderland"! Looks really good.

But good luck with trying to sing again,
    I hope it works out!!!

    Hugs and love, Katie T.

  8. Your are very courageous to continue to sing with the baby now! =\

This may be why you're THE best singer!! ;)
As is being said: the baby is influenced by the music he hears. So, what better than the singing of his mother? =D

    Bonne nuit ^^

  17. Hi Anette!

I've not been online much for the last couple of days, so I've only just read that you're pregnant. Congratulations! I wish you all the best, and a happy and healthy pregnancy.
It's good to hear that you're keeping busy, and are in fact recording songs. It's interesting to hear how pregnancy affects singing abilities, I've always wondered about that, so now I know.
Have a lovely weekend, and I'll be looking forward to more blog posts.

    Love
    Philippa

  18. Oh, Anette! It's so nice to see you happy! I'm really happy for you, only just heard the news so I'll say it now: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

What do you hope the baby will be? Boy or girl? I wish you the best through out your pregnancy and wish you, your son, boyfriend and unborn child the best life can give ^.^

And don't overstress! I'm sure you've been told this many times. But heh, I take Child Development as a GCSE, all I can think of is lots of baby things once I hear someones pregnant XD

Oh, but I'm still really happy for you! Babies are cute...when they're not screaming all night XD

It's been a while since I read your blog, I need to catch up with everything. But it's nice to see you're having a great time. My lifes been pretty misreable recently, I'm overstressing with work, coursework, college, interviews and careing for my mum and brother (She accidently mixed his medication with hers and she went through the roof with mania XD I can see the funny side to it. he's on ritalin, and it's like a form of speed for us. But a downer for kids with ADHD. It's funny, isn't it?). But I can cope, I have a really supportive boyfriend, and it's really nice x3 And I turn 16 real soon, so I'm looking forward to that =D

    Have a good week!

  22. I was playing xbox with a couple of Swedes today. I met them through the guys from Finland that I play with. They're really nice. They know you of course, and they like you and Nightwish :) I'm so used to hearing Finnish all the time, so when I first heard Swedish, I was like, woah! It's very different ;)

They said that people tend to think that Swedish sounds a lot like singing. After talking with them for a while, and hearing their swedish, I must agree. It does sound a bit like singing! Haha ;=)

Have a great weekend, don't stress yourself out too much with the singing!
    Hugs!

  27. Haha, didn't know you could feel where the baby exactly was when singing, that must be funny (in a way...).
I think you didn't tell for how much time you've been pregnant? Three months?

  29. Hello Anette!
I'm sorry to hear that using your belting technique is more difficult than usual because of the baby's position. Hopefully, trying to use this technique even in this situation doesn't harm you or make you feel too uncomfortable, I hope there's a solution to it.

Anyhow, I once heard my singing teacher say that pregnancy is actually beneficial to singing, hormonally. Apparently the amount of progesterone during pregnancy is greater than in one's usual state and that also has to do with one's vocal tone and richness, and also adds more flexibility to the vocal chords, even though physically (I mean, concerning the sensations in the abdominal area), it might be trickier to sing. So, long story short, I guess it doesn't make singing easier technically, but improves the natural properties of the voice itself. I'm not 100% sure of what I've just said, though. The explanation I was given was much more "scientific", to call it so, but as it happened some time ago, I didn't pay much attention to details. =)

I was also told that apparently women have much more easiness in lateral breathing, than men do, because anatomically, their body is always prepared to carry a child and they need to adapt their breathing to this situation too, so that they don't have any difficulty doing it. If male singers use their abdominal muscles more, in order to breath, women use the thoracic and lateral ones more, so that they don't trouble the pregnancy. Maybe this will help you out a bit with breathing, I surely do hope so. :)

Have a wonderful, cozy Saturday evening!
