I have always loved to study and before Nightwish I studied for some years in the university. Its great to learn and also to never stop thinking ahead in life. This year I am gonna study science and I so look forward. It´s all internet based so super good to do at the same time I am at home waiting for the baby;=)
I find it hard to not work or do anything and the last time I had my son, I studied maths, also via internet. It felt good to focus on something and feel at "use".
My best friends grandfather studied a doctors grade when he was 70 years old, so studying is something we are never to old to do. My mother have a dream of going to England and study english when she retires and I think its a good thing to keep the brain working.
Is anyone of you also studying at the moment? If so, what do you study and what do you want to work with?

It's been 6 years since I graduated, I used to study biology (molecular biology and genetics), it's been hard for a while to find a job, after some more or less disappointing experiences, I've worked in research in the field of myopathy for 2 years, I never had any regrets, so exciting!

The problem is, since I've also been working full time for the last five years, I really don't have much time for studying, between work, doing what needs to be done for the house and so on... I think it's great that you continue to study and further your mind, though science was never really my thing. I could never get my head around all the formulas and equations. Much more of an art student!

ReplyDeleteScience, wow, that's a very cool thing to study! I myself am now in my final year of middelbare school (I don't know what it's called in english, I guess High School)
and am very very busy with preparing for my final presentation, exams and assignments.
After this i'm going to an art school, where the first years you do basically everything, photography, drawing, graphic designs and creative writing (< the reason I am going there). I'm really looking forward to it, cause maybe i'll find out that photography or something is totally my thing.
At first i've searched everywhere for a school or study that envolved writing and stuff, but the only thing found was journalism, and in dutch. Now since I write stories and poems in english that wasn't going to work out. So actually i'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, but i'm working on it ^^.

I will stay in psychology for the moment and maybe, one day, I will be psychologist for children or for "old men". I have 3 years of studies to be a psychologist...
But with Erasmus-exchanges, I will try to study in Tampere last year, and after, when I will have a work, I believe that if I have some time, I will study History or English...

ReplyDeleteYeah, it's always good to study. And because it's so easy to study via internet in modern times. I think more people should use this chance.
I study archaeology, from the Prehistory to the Middle Ages. But I prefer the Prehistory. This year I will finish my study and then I hope to get a good job on an exciting excavasion. But that isn't easy. But if you make a thing with the heart, then there is always a way. I love my job as an archaeologist, because you can look back thousands of years. It's a great feeling to find something that is thousands of years old. It tells storys of the humans, of our ancestors and about what could happen in the future. History repeats itself!

I am in Science right now studying Computer Science. It is hard, but I like it better than the more traditional sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

I'm not studying myself (school was nothing but a failure for me, even if i have my high school diploma and studied a year of psychology), but i'm someone who likes to know more about a lot of things, and i ended doing very curious research on the net. I've learned a lot about Coptics (people, religion, language, liturgy... Do you know that there's not only one Coptic language, but 3?), traditional music from all around the world, Native Americans.... I could spend hours, days or even months in a subject and learn a lot of informations.
Incidentally, that's how i've learned english too. With school, it would be very limited and my english would be about 5% of what i use now. I own everything to internet, music, books, and the frustration of being able to understand but unable to wrote a single line without a big mistake. It took me 6 months of hard working, my first 3 lines (To Anja Pärson, BTW) took me 10 minutes to type and were full of mistakes. Now i feel better in english than in french...
So to tell in short, no official study but a lot of studies for my own pleasure, i love to learn. :)

Just nu så håller jag på att skriva en bok och en längre novell, men skolan tar upp så mycket av min tid att jag nästan aldrig har tid till att skriva på dom:(

ReplyDeleteSo, until June 2009 I was studying Information Management, but at that time I've got so annoyed and stressed so the best option for me was giving up studying this kind of hell. It was very boring to explain to people what it does and even some profesors at the university didn't know how to explain the subjects... :S
It was a hard decision, but I want to study something nice and, at least, something I like to do. Now I'm intending to study Design or English ;D

ReplyDeleteI am in the last year of Philosophical University of Athens. The object I study is pedagogical (Teaching era, methods, etc. Ancient and Modern greek, Latin, history are basic.)All that and more to become a teacher in high sclooh!!! Of course I have the choice study and other items such as philosophy, art, literature.... The good thing is that are all useful informations after for the school because you are full of knowledge! You never know what a student can ask, can't you??
Now I have a bittersweet feeling in the end and I'm so jealous (good way)for you where will now take place. It was the best years of my life so far and will did it from scratch with another object. ;)
But I love to teach and the expression of children in class while learning new things especially when the helping discover the knowledge alone is satisfied that the learners themselves. :) The afternoon after my lesson in university I help some children and teenages with their lessons and we have much fun soooo much fun.:)
So Bravo again and I hope you Good Progress!!!

Jag studerar sjöfart (anledningen till att jag studerar i dín hemma stad) för att först kunna bli matros eller maskinist, jag har faktiskt inte bestämt mig men det lutar väldigt mycket år matros. Sedan vill jag studera vidare till Kapten (eller om jag väljer maskin inriktningen så blir det ju maskinansvarig). Vi får helt enkelt se. Men jag har alltid dröm om friheten och för något år sedan kom detta med sjöfar upp men blev inte så seriöst förrän nu.

Waw, nice that you want to study again, it's probably not that easy when you didn't study for some years. But I think it's great to study again when you are older. It's not because you are older that you can't do that, you are defenitely right: when you feel like doing this, just do this :)
I'm also a student. Actually I'm a teacher for children from 6 till 12 years old, I have that diploma. I was looking for a job when this schoolyear started, so I was planning on starting to work in a school. But suddenly (very suddenly ;) I changed my mind and wanted to study again. So now I'm studying practical psychology (this is like psychology at university but it is more practical, and at a lower base and the studie doesn't take 5 years, but 3 years). With this diploma I can't be an independent psychologist, but I can choose between 3 directions: school, work or clinical psychology. And since I'm a teacher I'm pretty sure I will choose for schoolpsychology (although I also have a big interest in clinical). But I guess it will be a good combination of those 2 diploma's. I don't know yet If I will just teach or just work with the psychology. I guess the psychology or a combination. Time will tell :) And I'm also planning on going international in my last year of the studie, don't know this yet, because it asks a lot of money, and I don't know which country yet and I don't know if I would do a study there for a few months or go for an internship (working while your studying I mean ;) so that I maybe can set down the first steps to work in another country or a combination or what so ever... Don't know it yet, time will tell ;) I'm very curious! I'm really glad I choose to study again ;)
And ofcourse I wish you the best of luck with your studies, I hope you really feel good with your choice. :)

I was never any good at maths or science. My subject was English and though I left school without taking any exams (I was bullied and so school was hell for me), I later went on to study for an English Literature degree through The Open University. So now I have a degree.
Studying is great and you are right - we are never too old to learn. Learning new things keeps life interesting.

It's such a hard language but I'm making progress, i have the chance to transfer to Finland in the company I work for so fingers crossed.

Now I will start in my new job, is a very good job, pay very well.... $$$ =D
But I have two things that I would like to work. The first, is with computers becouse I like the informatic universe, the second is work with music, can be anything, one band, one music store, audio editor, and many other thing in the music. Maybe this seems a foolish dream... well... is a foolish dream but is just a plan, maybe one day I can. ;-)
Now I will go out to another city so i will just come back in 9:00 PM (sweden hour), so I wish to all a amazing day =)

And I love English, of course, it's my passion for almost 10 years :) But I don't like other subjects, cause some of them are too boring or difficult! For example, I don't know, why we are studying philosophy. And Old English is literally killing me :(
i have to say that i don´t study but i train to be a fully qualified graduate in the hotel industry in a five star hotel in germany but in my futer i wanna study acting ;-)

My goodness science and maths! You are lucky Anette to have a brain that is compatible with those subjects - I was always rubbish at both. I would like to do an English litrature course but my job takes up so much brain space that there isn't a lot left for anything else - I've also always fancied studying perfumery - perfume fascinates me but it is a bit too science based and I'm afraid my brain is not very logical. I did used to study karate and loved it - it is such an art form and a fantastic discipline but I had to give it up. I hope you get alot out of your course Anette... or should we say Professor ;)

Infact, looking how the media is today, I wonder how the media will be in 20-30 years from now. And I hope someday to be part of creating media. I don't know what exactly what to become when I graduate from my third year on Media and Communication...
But I'll find out that after some brainstorming in a few years...hehe!!

I'm a third year student and I have to be there 2 more years to become a specialist)) but actually i was kinda forced to enter this university since i was learning music in a music and school and i Really wanted to countionue it but...my dad said his word)) and now after i'm quite successful in this studing no matter what I thought about it - it's time for me to think of another university. Well I always knew I wasn't good in sciences (particularly Chemistry) but I always dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian, I tried, I didn't pass because of the chemistry and biochemistry part. So I told myself at least I gave it a year's try. Right now I'm studying law with a bit of political science, and I want to work either in international human law for the U.N. or something like that, I also want to expand on Animal right's laws and that type of legislation. Hopefully in a few year's time it all works out.

I studied commercial computer science instead of music or theater because my parents wanted me to be in a good position to earn money. I finished my studies 3 years ago and started to work. Well I kind of like what I'm doing but I just don't love it enough to do it for the rest of my life.
The money I earn is enough to take advanced lessons in singing and violin. I also take piano lessons but that's rather for technical reasons than for fun :).
I also decided to take part in a professional singing course but I'm still not sure if that will work out well. On the one hand I'm exited and on the other hand I'm afraid to be not good enough.
I'm also interested in intercultural differences and psychology thus I started to study psychology at a university which offers a distance study course.
As for now I don't know exactly what I want to do with these three very different areas but I'm faithful that there will be something somewhere sometime.

I recently have started studying sociology online as I cannot find work with my Engineering degree. Hopefully I can find a job in public policy when I am finished. Here, in Brazil, its so hard to make a university, so many people are out of school couse we have a lot of poor population, but in the last years this condition was changed. Thousand of students have a chance to make some kind of graduation. I hope some day, everybody can go to school or university, couse knowledge its not so much.

Science, vilket bra val ;) det är ungefär vad jag håller på med just nu: jag studerar telekommunikation vid Aalto universitetets Tekniska Högskola i Helsingfors för första året. Det innebär att jag kommer att kunna syssla mycket med elektronik, datorer, signalbehandlingar men också programmering om jag så vill. Därför har jag tänkt ta datateknik som biämne, för att kunna lära mig mer om hur allt i datorn fungerar. Det har varit ett av mina intressen redan under några års tid. Och den kombinationen gör att jag i princip kan få jobb på vilket företag som helst ^^ Just nu har jag dock väldigt mycket grundkurser att klara av: den här terminen har jag en grundkurs i matematik (integraler, partiell derivering etc.), en i fysik (elektromagnetism), en i elektronik (diverse olika komponenter och kretsar), en om telekommunikationens historia och så några andra lite härifrån och därifrån.
ReplyDeleteEn av mina planer väldigt länge har dock varit att ta ett mellanår och studera musik vid t.ex. stiftsgården Lärkkulla i Karis. Det skulle ge en skön paus från naturvetenskaperna, och dessutom ge mig möjlighet att ta en högre examen i piano (just nu har jag mitt avgångsbetyg från Östra Helsingfors musikinstitut, till vilket hörde grundexamen 3/3) och få utveckla mitt sjungande lite mer. Men i princip skulle jag nästan kunna tänka mig att studera vad som helst. I gymnasiet var jag intresserad av nästan alla ämnen (finska gymnasiesystemet är ju annorlunda än det svenska), och läste många realämnen som religion, historia och psykologi. Länge var också historiestudier ett alternativ för mig, men naturvetenskaperna avgick med segern. Hittills har jag inte behövt ångra det ;)

I'm sick of school....I know it's important and without it I can't go anywhere but it's also difficult. Everytime I get more and more scared about my future, because I've always been a good student but not a perfect one. This year I have national exams and I feel the pressure to do good...well, we'll see what happens. I don't know what I wanna do yet, but I wanna see the world, travel and taste freedom, If that exists in today's world :)

But I was interested in languages, especially to learn Sami language, so that's what I studied when I moved to Norway, and I even started to study journalism (in Sami), but I never finished it... I got a work as a teacher in Finnish and Sami, and so I took some pedagogics while working... But I still wish to start with travel and tourism one day! :))

Morning Anette, three words for ya:Good For You! I wish I had your money, so I could start studying again I miss it badly. Love to study English and become an English Teacher at a High School here in the UK where I live. But no chance, not with having 3 kids to look after and feed and clothe lol. Oh and word to the wise, I've noticed on your blog posts you've mentioned about eating sushi and that unpastrized cheese you like, that's not good for baby! Esp with the salt content. I mean at least here it is, I don't know what it's like in Sweden...but I can only assume it's a universal thing(A friend of mine in the US has said the same thing). Oooo ow about baby laying funny, I can remember those days too and trying to sing--not a good thing, I would get so frustrated. Anyway have a nice day and take it easy :0)

I graduated as an archaeologist last June and now I'm doing a one-year course to become a history teacher. It's very hard and I've never known so much stress in my life EVER!

You know, tests, an infinte number of pages to study for the next day, tests, interviews, tests, tests, tests.. STOOOOOP!!! I just want to finish my studies and take some days off to a little journey to Sweden before the University \m/
I'm hopefully going to do full A Levels in music, English literature and Japanese (I do these at school as well as media studies but I don't like it very much). After that I want to study music at university, but I'd love to carry on with languages somehow too.

ReplyDeleteWow, good luck with your studying! Since I was never good in Science myself, I find them exceptionally hard. But I'm sure you'll do great :) It's wonderful that people can now study from their own home, via computers. It makes it so much easier.
I'm currently studying in 3D Animation. It's my first year, and so far I'm absolutely LOVING it! It's a lot of work, but it's all worth it. But, since only the best students find a job, I just hope that I'll be good enough. If not, I'll probably go study in Visual Arts in order to hopefully get a job in the book illustration field.

I also find it important to keep the brain working. Nowadays I am in the end of my third studies and now I think it's enough with university for me. I really want to work fulltime now (I always only had halftime jobs) and earn enough money to have a bigger flat and full financial independence!! But despite that I don't want to stop learning. I am planning to learn several languages and I am already studying singing for years now and want to go on with this. Also I started learnng to play the piano few months ago which I want to improve. There's always something one has to learn. And this is one of the things that make life more interesting.

I did my degree in Obstetrics (again, if u have any doubts/questions feel free to ask) a couple of years ago, and now I'm starting Nursing with a specialization in Neonatology (yeah, I love babies). ReplyDeleteRight now I'm not doing anything, I'm just planning what career I will choose. Last year I finished the high school, but I still don't know what I will study from now on.
But I think I will study and work with geography or informatics, something with computers, technology etc. (like Bonome as well!). But what I really like is photography and astronomy, but I think I will study them after I build a solid life. I'm still very confused and have too much pressure from my family. Music is something I would like to study too. :)

I have always liked learning. When it comes to choosing whether I go to school or to work, I have always chosen school ;) When I gratuated from high school I went to open university to study languages, majoring english. I also studied there swedish, french, spanish, finnish and italian (I'm a finn). It was nice to study only languages. I was there for a year and then I went to commercial school. I graduated and now I'm in university of applied sciences majoring computers. This education lasts 3,5 years.

First I studied a semester of accounting, then I changed the course to Food Engineering, but didn't like it at all, also studyed it for one semester. So now, I started to study Economy! I'm enjoying it a lot, but I'm afraid I can change my opinion again, since the course started just one week ago...
Since I was a child I always wanted to be a civil engineer, but after 7 years with this idea I changed my mind..

Right now I am in my last year at high school, in a german school, in science class (lots of biology, physics, chemistry, maths). I don't really like any of these subjects, but what I do like a lot is that we studied everything in german(and a lot of german literature) since first grade and I also like other languages as english and french and literature!
So after I graduate from high school I want to study at the university german language and literature (Germanistik) and economy&management...and learn some more languages!

Yes, I am studying too, but I'm at the age, you know, I'm 21. I'm studying for being an Infant teacher. Here in Spain that means to work with children from 0 to 6. It's an amazing thing and I really want to work as a teacher since I love kids.

Hopefully next year will be my last... (At least it should be the last one...) Then i'd like to teach, maybe in a secondary school. Or in a language school. We'll see it :) It depends on many things.
Jag är i gymnasiet, på första årskursen, så jag studerar inte något speciellt. Men precis nu, i denna period när jag skriver har jag biologi, svenska, fysik, finska, matematik och tyska. Jag är inte särskilt bra på något av de ämnena (förutom matte, det är ganska lätt, och finska är okej). Jag har ingen aning om vad jag vill bli "som stor" ^^ men jag skulle vilja bli som du, sjunga. Jag älskar att sjunga, men får nog ganska sällan höra att jag sjunger bra, så det får nog förbli en dröm :/ Jag avskyr att jag inte vet vad jag kan bli, jag är inte bra på något extra, bara sådär någorlunda okej på allting.

ReplyDeleteI'm on 3rd year, up till now I haven't known what exactly I was doing at university!
Next year I'll be writing some engineer-project. Now, I have much work, after 2,5 years of doing nothing - I must do a banking WAN for Poland, LAN for about 200 computers, I must create a wimax for a big city in Poland, and also I must do few things about databases, and that is what my way of study is about.
That's interesting, but I'm the first year of new style of studying. And I hate it. I see the difference between my year and a year above, and my year is far far worse, even if we had much more maths, electronics, etc. just because we don't need them.
Ugh, but about my studies I can talk for hours, and it's sad for me that I'm thinking of finding something new, even if I know that after teleinformatics I would get a wellpaid job.
And I'm dreaming about japanese filology. I'm learning japanese for 3 years now, and I love it. :)
I went back to school to study Public History (what people in museums, historic homes, and historic sites usually study). Currently I'm interviewing people about funeral and memorial practices in Southern Appalachia. Fascinating stuff!

ReplyDeleteWhat kinda science it is? And isn't it a bit difficult to study by internet, you always has to strain your eyes? For me it is hard, though during my university studies I have to spend lots of time by the screen, looking for some information, exchanging news and opinions with the members of my group, and after 6 hours of typing another essay I feel really dizzy. We have to do some every semester, and I just hate them;)) I'm going to be a journalist, studying in Moscow State University, school of journalism, and this is the place I love. Such an inspiring atmosphere, I noticed that I always draw or write something better in the university. Our building is just in front of Alexandrovskiy Garden near Kremlin, so I love sitting on the big windowsills looking down of the street, and people walking by Manege, and the never-ending stream of cars... Some positive radio plays in you ears, you're alone in the high-ceilinged classroom - just the echo follows you, and the sun ray plays on your cheek... Or the raindrops cover your lashes...
I'm actually studying as a radio journalist, though I'm not sure about radio yet. That's why I want to pass two working summer practises, one on air and one in our L'Officiel. That's my favourite press, I love it and just admire its editor-in-chief Evelina Chromchenko. She's an icon of a real lady, with strong character yet such a charm. I wanna be into fashion a bit deeper, 'cause I'm really interested. I hope I'll stay alive after two months of work instead of summer holidays (honestly, I'm looking forward). I also want to improve my photography skills and interviewing. I know that we'll be learning it next year, but I want to practise it now. It's such a pleasure to communicate to people who are all in what they're doing. That's my personal sort of heroin;)) Not even interviewing but simply talking. Exchanging positive energy, gaining experience from them, finding same interests, beliefs and principles. I don't know why, this just affects me deeply and makes me so happy and full of energy, makes me improve myself. It's so hard to part ways after it, I always look forward to future meetings. It's so hard to find a personal lighthouse now, a person who inspires you to live and create. I want more such people on my way. And I want to become a professional in my branch so very very much. Insanely.

When I studied in the university a couple of years ago I studied Project management, Psychology, Group psychology and sociology. ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention earlier that I'm currently learning Swedish. I've been studying it for a few years now because I plan to move to Sweden. My brother's lived there for 10 years now and can speak the language really well. I, on the other hand, find it quite difficult. main problem is that though I can understand most Swedish words when reading, I find it hard to understand what people are saying as they speak too fast. I'm sure I'll get there eventually though! I'm also interested in learning Finnish.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately though working in this academic field and especially with this particular topic of which I'm a "specialist" now is quite hard at times... It really needs a "calling" to tolerate these crappy salaries, constant stress over students, absurd amount of paperwork, constant applying for funding if you want to get even that crappy salary, gazillion projects going on at the same time... feels like my head's about to explode every day! I've been studying/working with science for 18 years now and desperately in need of a break :p Maybe I'll move to Lapland to work at a husky dog farm for a year or something crazy like that, write that book I've been planning and dreaming of or paint all those pictures I haven't been able to paint for all these years... (yeah, science was never my "calling", art was, and it starts to kick through now... :p)
But for you, because you work in the field of "art" and are able to follow your "calling" in it I'm sure science is a welcomed variation :) Something for the both lobes of the brain, eh? ;) Good luck with your studies! :)

ReplyDeleteI study classical music (singing is my major, I'm a baritone) in Kuopio conservatory, here in Finland. I'm graduating in May and I'm applying to Sibelius Academy to continue my singing studies. I'm sure you've heard of that school, it's very highly respected.
I'm soooo nervous about the tests they make us take there! There's interviews, ensembles, improvisation, and of course we have to sing A LOT. Uuuu. And it's so hard to get there, I once took a look of the statistics and they were like "80 applied, 4 got in". But no one makes it if they don't at least try.

ReplyDeleteI'm studying at the university at the moment. My major subject is accounting and finance, and minor subjects are tax law and business law. This is my second year and I shoud graduate after three more years. I absolutely feel that I've chosen the right subject (though I actually had a rather hard time two years back when I was trying to decide what to do with my future..).
It's funny how people usually react when I tell that I'm studying accounting... They almost always say something like "Oh, poor you, that must be so boring". I cannot help laughing at them when I try to explain that no, I actually find the subject very interesting and I enjoy studying =)
I'm still in high school so I'm studying a little bit of everything.
ReplyDeleteA cool thing, though, is that I'm gonna start taking an elective English class called "The Album as Literature" where we're gonna look at different music albums (mostly concept albums)and look for different themes, characters, and other literary devices in the lyrics and music. I think it'll be a great way to combine music and literature, and it's gonna be so much fun! I'll have to bring in some metal stuff to torture everyone else with XD

ReplyDeleteI'm studying for the first time in years for a professional qualification at work.
It is an IT Security course and involves reading 6 very large manuals covering topics such as - Risk Assessment and Auditing, Host and Network Based Intrusion Detection, Windows (2000, XP, 2003, Vista) Security Administration and Auditing, Web Security, Anti-Viral Tools and Security Incident Handling - The Six Steps to name just a few.
The Exam is 5 hours long and is in April !! I'm still on book 2 and have 2 weeks holidays as well.... eeeeeek..-((( The pass mark is 80 % as well.

Ahh, that's a good idea Anette =) Science is interesting. Well, not all subjects appeal to me, but I like it overall =)
ReplyDeleteI'm still in school T_T And I hate it. But there are some nice subjects, I love maths, acting and music, and also history and French are faves. But teachers can kill the subject, last year I had a great science teacher, but now he's terrible. Same year, same subjects, different teacher. I loved it last year, but now it's just crap =(
Unfortunately there are a lot of subjects that are killed by the teacher for me, Spanish could be great, with another guy in front of the class, same goes for economy. English could use a new teacher too, but the main problem there is that we just don't learn anything we didn't know yet..
That's the way school tears itself down, they all keep saying "be happy you can be here" "school's a right" "you'll be thankfull later" "you don't even try to have fun", but they don't learn us stuff, they tell us to stop when we try to have fun and they force us to go to school. I don't really see the point in that..
Well, sorry for my rant (A) I still thing learning is good, and fun =) I love doing maths <3

These classes I think are really funny

Man kan gå två år på kursen, men man blir inte utbildad till något.
Ända sen jag var 10 år, då jag började kolla på CSI, hra jag velat jobba som kriminaltekniker (även fast dem på CSI överdriver).
Tycker sådant är så intressant ;-)
Men nu vet jag inte.....de kan bli att jag utbildar mig till personlig/elev assistent =) för jag kan ej komma in på många skolor, eftersom mitt mattebetyg är dödsdömt. :P

ReplyDeleteI'm in my first year of college right now, and I'm working towards a basic degree but I hope to go farther and get a degree in art :D As much as I've loved art my whole life, I never thought about getting a degree in it until finally thinking "Screw it, I'm going to follow the path that I've been on since I could hold a pencil! Who cares what others say!"
And college can be difficult, but at least I am enjoying the classes that I've taken so far.
I love learning and I totally agree with you that one has to keep the brain working, even, or especially, in old age. Mankind has gathered so much interesting knowledge that we must use our short time to aquire as much of it as we can.
ReplyDeleteI'm studying Philosophy and Skandinavistik/Fennistik (which means learning Finnish as well as learning about scandinavian culture and literature), and it is so much fun! Of course it's work, too, but I wouldn't want to do anything else by now, and I wouldn't even mind to keep studying instead of leaving University in a few years in order to get a job.
Anyways, it's great that you're so interested and active, you're a great and positive person. I wish I'd be as energetic as you are.
I love science! I have been studying molecular biology for 3 years now and I will start my masters this year focusing on biochemistry. I always loved biology and chemistry at school so it was an easy choice what to do when I am old enough to head for university. I guess I will look for a job focusing on research focusing on macromolecular structures, but I do not really know yet ;)

ReplyDeleteindeed studying is great. It keeps your mind fresh and it gives you a goal in life, something to achieve. I still have to study nearly every day to keep up with new discoveries so that i can continue to do the best i can to help people (i'm a doctor). A few years ago I started to learn swedish. At that time i could speak a little, but you have to entertain it. I still can understand it when i'm reading a text or something. When i want to look something up sometimes i'm using the swedish version of wikipedia. In future i'd like to learn more about history, learn italian, ... So many things to do but so little time.
Good luck with your studies, science is a really interesting choice

Ok, i do all the recording and producing stuff for my music myself...but! it would be awesome to learn it from the first hand. I love all this editing, mastering a track is one of the best things for me to do.
I could spend days editing a song or an single audio track. but its amateurish and i want to learn all this accuratly and right.

ReplyDeleteI'm currently at University studying English (which is my native language), and I simply adore it. I've always loved learning, and I couldn't wait to get to University. However, I initially started studying History at University... and then changed to Media Studies... and then changed again to Business Management, and all of this was because I didn't think I was good enough to study English. I always doubted myself which is the worst possible thing to do! Finally I accepted that I was plenty good enough, and now I'm on the right course, doing what I love.
I'm glad to hear that you still want to study. I think it's so very important to study at any age.
May I ask, what does your son want to be when he's older? I remember as a child I wanted to be a writer or a teacher. Now I'm following my dreams and heading towards a career in teaching, doing some freelance writing on the side.

Myself I'm gonna study nursery, especially I would like to be midwife. This spring I will apply to a university of applied scienses, but it's very hard for me because my high school report is not the best one and thanks to that I'm not sure if I'm not even admitted to the entrance examination. Now I'm studying hard occupational ethics and anatomy and I hope so much that I will at least be admitted to the entrance examination. I live in Helsinki so there's so many applicants for schools and grade limits are higher in here. I have considered studying in another place but I have apartment, work, friends and boyfriend here. Very hard but I won't stop trying.

ReplyDeletemy studies is based upon psychology. I've always wanna to learn about the human behaviour and it's really interesting !! at the end i want to become teacher for special needs (i know the expression in french but not in english so i hope you'll understand =)), and especially work with kids and teenagers because i really think that's them who needs the most about advises, how to act in society and that's them who are the most subject at psychological problems so i really want to act for the best for helping them in my future job.
