...a super guitarist and for me, a man who has given me wonderful songs to listen to and dance my first slow dances to, has been found dead early this morning in Spain.
He was so young still, just 58 years old and it´s just a big loss for music.
Nightwish has recorded one of his songs as a cover - Over the hills and far away - a great song he made.
I hope you may rest in peace, Gary, and thanks for all the songs I just love!

Hey Anette!
ReplyDeleteI found out about this 3 hours ago and I still can't believe it! It's such a big loss :(. I was so shocked because he was on tour last year and I was supposed to see him play live in May and I was sure he was totally fine.. So unexpected :(.
Last year Ronnie James Dio, this year Gary Moore..
RIP
Gosia
Gary Moore is one of my favorites guitar players.... I´m so sad.... We all have his music to remember what a gifted musician he was.... RIP Gary...
ReplyDeleteI know :( It's very sad. My mom just told me a few hours ago.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, I would lay on the floor and listen to him, and I couldn't say his name, so I said "Mary Goore" instead :)
He will be missed.
Hope you are okay, Anette <3
Love and kisses, Mads
Good evening Anette,
ReplyDeleteOh, I was not aware of this. I pray also that he shall rest in peace…it’s so sad to know that he left us when he still had so much life to live…
Well, once again I would like to thank you so much for hosting this raffle. I am sure the winners must be thrilled, so another big congratulations to all of them. I hope you’ve had a lovely day as I have. I finally had some nice warmth and sun today, so I made sure to get some fresh air. Also, I was glancing over a few pictures I had saved from your Blog and it reminded me, in early January you stated that you had recently finished a Photo shoot that would be published in early February. I was wondering if it is still due sometime in the near future? Or if it was set back a bit? Well, I suppose that is all for now.
I pray you have a peaceful evening and sleep well tonight.
With much love and warm wishes,
Alexandria.
OMG! It's so tragic and sad. My favourite song is 'out in the fields', but i like all the one's you posted too. He was only 58.
ReplyDeleteI feel very sad about this news. He was a genius, but he lives on through the wonderful music that he made. xxx
I've just read it on the news a couple of hours ago myself. It's just outrageous, I would have never expected it. And now, the worst thing is, of course, when the cause of death of an artist is "unknown", everyone is like "Oh, it's surely an overdose". It MIGHT be that, but it's just so sad how people don't care about the fact that a great artist AND a young person DIED. All they think about is the fact OMG IT MIGHT BE DRUGS. For yelling out loud.
ReplyDeleteI'm just so sorry for such a big loss for the musical world.
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteI listened some sonds of this great man today, too. He was awesome musician and great person. It is big loss for all.Rest in peace.
Lot of kisses for you.
Zuzia ;)
Hi Anette,
ReplyDeleteThe rock & roll world has lost a true legend guitarist. I remember listening to him when he was with Thin Lizzy and that was when I was very young. He did very well in his solo career and that is simply great, Thanks for posting. Best wishes to you and the family...
Love Fernando
Hi Anette. Today I met up the news of the death of Gery Moore. Rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteKnow the reasons for his death?
Kisses from Spain.
It's always a shock when you read or hear that somebody you know has died... And just so young...
ReplyDeleteRIP Gary Moore

Hi Anette,
ReplyDeleteThis is a truly sad day with the loss of a great artist. He was only 58 but to me a great legend never fades away. He will always be in our hearts forever through his great music. May he forever rest in peace and his soul remain free to roam the universe. I hope things are going great for you and the boys, bright blessings to you all.
Hugs Zulma :-)
It's really sad. Such a big loss.
ReplyDeleterest in peace Gary... despite dont knowing him and his music, its undeniable that he was a mark on music history and always will be...
ReplyDeleteHow sad! 58 is so young :-(
ReplyDeleteI do love Gary Moore’s interpretation of Over the Hills and Far Away very much. I'm also fond of the traditional Old English versions, because the lyrics are beautiful and poetic.
Gary Moore will be missed.
ReplyDeleteHe was a great musician, and was covered by many bands (Nightwish, Sonata Arctica...)
May he be remembered forever.
Love from Alice~
A huge loss for music, indeed. Almost all artists that I love have him as an inspiration to their songs.
ReplyDeleteBesides, Nightwish should play Over The Hills And Far Away on gigs again. It would be great to hear it with your voice, Anette! Also, It would continue with the nice homage to Gary Moore that the band did with this cover :)
rest in peace :(
ReplyDeleteIt is a sad day indeed, he shall be missed dearly but his contributions to music will never be forgotten!! ~V
ReplyDeleteBig loss for the music world. Thank you for the videos!
ReplyDeleteTisa
Hi Anette
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe it when I saw this today, 58 omg so young still. My hubby and I have liked his music for years. R.I.P Gary Moore. Thank you for the lovely tributes :)) Lee
It was so unbelievable to read that he's dead. ;( I used to listen to his music a lot in earlier years. The music never dies... but he was too young.
ReplyDeleteNow I'd like to move where you live, I don't like this winter anymore. -25 degrees yesterday and now -26. We've had enough of this! :=P
Have a nice Monday, and stay warm!! :)
WHAT?? HE DIED? WHEN WHAT HOW??
ReplyDeleteAnd Anette, give him the honour, and do a cover for one of his songs.
As my favourite singer, if you would do a cover for a song by my 3rd favourite guitarist (after Marco and Emppu). it would really, be... well...
All the best.
Itamar
R.I.P Gary Moore. Sad, sad news :(
ReplyDelete"Over the hills and far away
For ten long years he will count the days
Over the mountains and blue seas
Back in her arms he swearss he'll be"
Or something like that ...
Oh, I was so shocked when I first heard he had died :( It was so unexpected!
ReplyDeleteR.I.P. Gary...
Like everybody else, I was quite shocked too when I read the news. I became familiar with Gary Moore when I heard that Over the Hills and Far Away was actually a cover song that Nightwish played. I had thought that OtHaFA is originally a Nightwish song.
ReplyDeleteI admit that I haven't listened Moore's music at all, but I have heard about the guy. And I'm a bit shocked that he was still so young. :(
What? OMG.. I can't believe
ReplyDeleteI know some of his songs, especially Over the Hills and Far Away! So sad now... :(

Gitarrerna gråter i ditt minne och även fast du tystnat kommer vi fortsätta spela din musik med absolut volym. Vila i frid och tack för alla mästerverk till låtar du lämnat efter dig. Legend. ♥
ReplyDeleteRIP Gary! :(
ReplyDeleteThis is such sad news, =(. I first heard whilst watchig the news last night, there was a special feature on him showing some of his guitar playing skills. 58 is much too young to die. RIP Gary.
ReplyDeleteSad news. I was shocked when I read about it yesterday. R.I.P. Gary
ReplyDeleteSad news :(((
ReplyDeleteRIP Gary Moore
I was shocked when I read about this in the peper, such sad news :(
ReplyDeleteRIP Gary, I hope you're rocking out Over The Hills and Far Away
Best wishes
xxx
Anette,
ReplyDeleteNever heard the original "Over the Hills" but its pretty good actually! Love the NW version the most! :D Thank you for sharing these!
Take care,
*~*smpobsessor*~*
Such a sad last few years it has been with all these musicians dying :(
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think I may have gotten into the wrong industry >_>
But Gary Moore I never expected. "Out In the Fields" and of course "Over The Hills and Far Away" were my favorites, because they are songs that make you think.
It's a shame he isn't too well known here in Australia. I said to mum last night that Gary had passed away and she had no idea who I was talking about.
I hope the songs I write will be remembered when my time finally comes.
Take care Anette, and little Nemo too ^_^
Much love,
Josh.
Hi, Anette. Big loss for us all ... We will remember him ... Russia honors the memory of ...
ReplyDeleteHi, Anette. He was a very good artist, We'll remember him.
