Today its grey here so felt I needed some red lips, a nice hair-do and some colourful socks today;=)
And a question to you all: do you, just like me, get chocked seeing yourself in photos? I always think: what??? Is that me? I never "see" myself that way in the mirror as photos look like...its really annoying and I wonder why this is the thing? Let me know your photo experiences;=)
Hej Anette,
ReplyDeleteIf I see myselfs on a picture, is like, blegh. Make another one. And if I see a vid were I see my selfs is always like, OMG remove!
But when you getting older and you look at those pic's and vid's again, it's beautiful to see how you were when you were little.
Have a nice day and lots of love,
Fay
Your todays hair-do is absolutely great, really!
ReplyDeleteJag gillar inte foton på mig själv. Det ser inte ut som jag, antingen bättre, eller hundra gånger värre än vad jag gör. Speglar är inte heller någon favoorit. :(
ReplyDeleteI get what you mean! I look in a mirror and then if a photo gets taken , i think , I didnt think i looked like that. But u dont like having photos taken anyway :)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!
Amy x
Awwwww! You look adorable dear Nettie! Nice earings! I do not care if I am pretty or not , I think it's important that the person is happy and healthy =). I think that the look inside is more important than the outside look. You have a beautiful inside and outside look. You are a nice , friendly and kind , sweet person!
ReplyDeleteAnd do not worry , you look great!
Love
Ena :*
hahaha
ReplyDeleteyes, that always happen to me! I hate to teke photos of me! I always look like I was trying to scare someone ¬¬
But you don't need to worry, you look perfect in all your photos!
Have a great day
Loce you
I think I understand what you mean. One reason I don't like to have my picture taken is because 9 out of 10 times I would not look good in them. Well, there is that stuff about the convex shape of camera lenses that distorts how you look, like making your size bigger or bloating up parts of your face.
ReplyDeleteBut don't worry, Anette! Looking at your photos here, you always look good in them. :)
Take care.
Eskoplja: Oh, you are truly a special person. What you say is so true and I think its exactly like that;=) And since I have someone close to me that has gotten cancer in the breast and stomach I really appreciate my healthy body so much more. Big hug to you for those nice and true words;=)
ReplyDeleteHey Anette!
ReplyDeleteI often take pictures of myself and yeah, often wanna cry of the sight. =D But today is a gooooood day cuz it's my birthday! I'm 19...pfff...I'm getting older, I'm almost in my 2nd X. Jeeeez!
I wish everybody a happy good and fresh day! I can't stop smiling! I'm acting like an insane, crazy girl!
Oh, and New Moon! I just downloaded it and jesus christ it's the best movie I've ever seen! Recommend to all of you!
Have a good day, Anette! Rest a lot, you deserve it. Oh, and you looked so pretty at the Dome and Lauri too. I didn't know he has a hairstyle like this but it's better than the quills-in-the-hair style. =)
H&K,
Dora
Hei,
ReplyDeletethat´s always so horrible to look at myself on photos! I´m like, ´How can anyone look at me without needing to throw up?´ :D However no one has ever told me that I am ugly and people around me usually like me, so it´s actually not important at all how I look on photos.
I am very sorry for your friend/relative who got the cancer... This damn desease has done quite lots of trouble in our family too... I pray for him/her to win this fight.
Hey dear Nettie1 Thank you for those sweet words!
ReplyDeleteI am happy that my words helped you!
I have also collected over 1000 friends on myspace Croatia support for you.
Here is the little avatar I made for you =)

Big hugs to you too!

Heyy Anette, I know what u mean about the pics. Im always like "But I looked really good in the mirror when i took this :("
ReplyDeleteWhat you find mught be happening is your seeing the reverse image in the mirror, so it's always gonna look off in the picture. Try inverting your pics on the computer, then it should look the same as the mirror image.
Well actually, I have kinda the same thing. But I'm not chocked, I just feel like: Hum, did I look like that? And indeed I thought that I looked a bit different in the mirrow.
ReplyDeleteBut it's also the thing that a picture is like a 1-second-image, I guess. Sometimes I think when I see a photo of myself: Huh, my face looks so weird. I didn't know I had an expression like that. But that's again a 1 second thing, you don't see that so good when you look in the mirrow.
And I love your hair-do! Did you use hair pins to do that?
Greetings Daphne
Daphne: How I did the hair-do: I first took a golden hair clip, middle size and made a kinda ponytail with some stripes hanging down. Then with hair clips, I take the stripes and put them up in a small little curls/twists and clip on. then I took a bigger stripe and made a braid and clipped on the side. Hard to explain but I try to make some "lively" things in hair-dos so it looks a bit "sloppy" and not so perfect;=)
ReplyDeleteyeah that's why I hate pictures where I am , and when I am travelling people says get a picture abut you and this monument, I hate that is like dude I am tired of walking not good dressed and I am sweaty... I´m not gonna take the pic with me in It.
ReplyDeleteHey :)
ReplyDeleteNice outfit :)
and a great hairstyle :) like that very much :)
looks GREAT!
To your question:
Yes! everytime i see a pic of myself, im shocked! when i look in the mirror i see a completely diffrent face! i dont even think im good looking, but its really annoying to see myself on pics.
on photos i look more dumb than in the mirror. like in my account photo that is shown over every of my comments....GOD i look like a goof. is that really me? HELP :D
maybe its a natural thing that most of us think we look totaly diffrent on pics,
cause if you look in the mirror you see yourself mirror-inverted. and on a photo you see yourself like other people see you.
maybe its related to that ;)
hope your day is filled with happieness :)
huuugs from munich
LOVE AND RESPECT
Chris^^
You look great, so beautiful today...well, everyday :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like to look photos of myself, my mouth usually looks like a bird beak on them, haha, especially when the photos are taken by surprise.
The tip for me is: take lot of photos and choose those ones I don't have bird beak. But most of the time I don't care if they are good or not. I think I am habituated to that thought "I am so strange in this pic".
I think this is it because we don't see ourselves in third-person like people see us, it is just most of the time in front of mirrors (just our front body and face). So when we see a photo of ourselves, we think sometimes we look strange, because we are not used to see us in others angles.
Have a wonderful sunday Anette.

Hello, Anette,
ReplyDeleteI was watching today the Rasmus video of October and April, and in the 'making of' you are featured as well, and I felt this urge to write to you, something I actually wanted to do for quite a while now. I wanted to tell you why I can't support you any more.
It's funny, but one of the things that made me realise how MUCH things have changed was your line saying that you're Pippi Longstocking and I remembered when Tuomas used to say it and it sounded credible. Now it just sounds hilarious. When you said that "if someone is mocked or having problems, you'll be there fighting" my instant thought was - "wow, I thought she'll be shopping, having a massage or eating something". Because Anette, sadly, this is the image that you have build for yourself - with you constant talking about clothes, every report about going to the gym, every visit to a restorant etc.
It's really a funny thing how the fairy, dreamy, magical world of Nightwish suddenly was conquered by your world, in which triviality and drowing into everyday routine is not simply your reality, but it is something that you expose constantly as who you are. You are like the total opposite of NW, being drowned so much into the material world, so much attention seeking, so exposed. And before you tell me that it is "your personal blog", answer me this - do you think that anyone will be reading your blog, if you were not NW's lead singer? I'm sorry to be blant, but do you believe you are that interesting on your own? And it is really a sad thing that now when NW are going for a media silence, people who always are hungry for news about NW - will have mainly your blog. Sadly for two years NW will be associated with shopping and spa.
I'm perfectly aware that you are your own master, and you have said numerous times that NW is a job and a business for you, but still you are the face of this band, music in the eyes of the people does not have working hours, it's a passion, and when you are so determined to build such image of yourself, it's inevitable to reflect to the perception of the people of the band.
While the boys have tried to convince people that you are such a big professionalist, especially Tuomas has said many many times how you are a perfectionist, how you try to give a 100% and more, and people actually believed that. Even in the beginning of this year there were many comments in the forums how you work really hard to improve all the time, people were convinced that you are rehearsing all the time, working with your voice coach, trying new technics etc. And people RESPECTED that. I have a reaaaaally hard time understanding why you try so hard now to destroy this image? Why you try to convince everyone that your main priorities and interests are clothes, gym and going to the hairdresser? Are you aware how UNPROFESSIONAL you look when you talk about the working process in connection to you new album? For God's sake, you are like a factory for songs! One song per day! It really seams that your album can be ready for like a month! In fact I was hoping that it'll be out before Christmass!
It's sad that actually if there is not a note on your blog saying that you're a singer, and if someone doesn't know that you are in NW - it will be really hard to realise that you actually are involved with music! Even when you talk about music, for example when you attended the Black Silk premiere, when you supposedly were very deeply moved - the fisrt half of your post was about your visit to the hairdresser!
So, I'm fully aware that there's a good chance that you will skip my post, as you said that you don't like and you don't listen to critiques. Still I want to make clear that I really don't want to offend you or to insult you, I just wanted to express my thoughts and feelings. The fact is that I used to like you a lot, I used to defend you a lot, I loved your voice (I still do), but now it's very hard for me to think for you in terms of music. You are right - you have built your own image, but it's not my favorite.
Good day
hi Anette
ReplyDeleteLove the Earrings :)
Yeah I feel weird looking at myself in photos. I'm never quite happy with them even though everyone says I look good in them.
Bit like an out of body experience, your looking at this image and it doesnt feel quite like you :)
Hope your well

I feel like that too, Anette. I just don't look the same in photos as I do in the mirror, that's why I hate taking pictures. Only rarely do I come out good in them. I have the same thing with my voice - both speaking and singing. I just don't like to hear myself back. In my ears it all sounds so different. I think many people experience this.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Anette, how are you feeling today? I hope that everything is good =D
ReplyDeleteWell, I dont have much pictures of me becouse they never go out as I imagine, so I understand that you said. Pictures is unpredictable things, hehehe. =) But you is very cute in this pictures of today, so you don't need to care ;-)
I'm glad to know that everything went well in the Dome, you deserve, you and lauri has made a great work with this music.
Have a great day, full of joy
Hugs from Brazil =)
I agree with you... I take many pics of me and when I see them I think "oh, I'm so ugly" hehe I think it's normal, or not?
ReplyDeleteThx for answering Anette. Well I like the 'sloppy-look' very much. Sometimes it looks good when I do something like that with my hair, but mostly it doesn't ;) I still need a lot of practicing.. But I will write your tips down. I'm learning from a pro :)
ReplyDeleteKram Daphne
I don't like see myself in the photos. I'm not photogenic.... I feel it's not me that that photos, ahahah
ReplyDeleteMiriam xx
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI never stopped to think about about it... I think on the photos I always look much fatter than when I look myself in the mirror.. I actually don't like to take many pictures of me, I like to take pictures of others, and nature and stuff.. I only take pictures of me on special ocasions, like weddings, graduation parties and stuff like that.
But I guess that happens to me too.. Sometimes I dress up and put make up on to go out and stuff.. then I look in the mirror and it looks nice. but when I take a pictures, it looks really weird .. I guess there's something wrong with the cameras... Or my mirror hehehehe
By the way, I loved your outfit and hair for today.. It was really good.. About the Dome, I'll leave a comment here after I get to see the video performance =)
hugs
Hi Anette
ReplyDeleteYou look so great at the pictures.
I am 15 years old and when I see a picture of me I think OMG. I dont´t like my own look. If I see a picture of you I think wow why don´t I look so beautiful and natural as you. I think the natural look is more importand then other things.
Sorry for my bad english:)
Have a very great day :)
Lots of Hugs
Maria
You look stunning today Anette, just as you always do :=) and I really love how you have done your hair. I agree that I hate to see photo's of myself. My friend of mine called Krys is doing photography and did a picture of me for some of her college work and used my picture in her degree presentation. For the picture she had me stood in a graveyard in a gothic dress. The session was good as it felt like having my own photo shoot having to pose this way and that for the picture, although I also felt silly as I knew I wouldn't look good. Apparantly after people commented on how pretty I looked. I look at the photo and cannot see what they see. I have now agreed that I do look kind of nice but she must be using a magic camera lol. I guess when we look at a picture of ourselves we notice our imperfections rather than ignore them like someone else would, plus most people can accept critisism easier than a compliment.
ReplyDeleteI hope your day gets brighter
My deepest respect
Nikki
Haha ! The same for me...
ReplyDeleteSome years ago, when I was 14 or something, I didn't have aaaaaany trust in myself, so I felt very very ugly in the miror and in photos. No girlfriend, no fashion-friends to do some shopping with, etc. ...
And, one day, I decided to do something to change it because I was tired of looking at myself every morning, wearing the clothes my mom prepared for me (it was nice, but well, it wasn't what I choose, my inspiration, etc. ... I just used to wear it to not be naked haha). So, this day, I just wanted (for the first time in my life !) to wear a white shirt and to take care of my hair. And, then, at school, some classmates (and especially girls) told me that I was well dressed, it was cool, etc. ... Then, I think I started to feel better, because I understood that everybody wasn't thinking "oh, he's ugly !", but some people can see me as a beautiful boy !
So, years by years, I think it was better and better, even if it took so many times to find a pretty "me" in pictures ! Now, I feel more beautiful when I look at myself in the mirror than when I look at myself in photos, but I still prefere the me in the mirror than the one in pictures... I feel like pictures dont look like me at all... But, well, now I find some photos of me that I do like, which wasn't the case at all before ! So, cool...
Okay, I don't know if my story was the one you wanted to heard, but it went like this... Haha !
Thanks you Anette for all the things that you share with us and taking a look at what we think, etc. ... I think it's really nice from you, since we are probably so many to write here in the comments, so... Yes, thank you so much ! Merci ! =)
Take care,
Karim.
Hi Anette, i understand what you mean. When i took a pic to myself or by my friends i never like me. Ahahahahah I don't like to take a pic. Don't worry you are always beautiful! :D Hugs
ReplyDeleteJa, herregud, passfotot...
ReplyDeleteDet är bland det sämsta kort på mig som någonsin tagits! =)
Men du är så söt på kortet högst upp i mitten.
Eilenna Elonen
Oh, I love your hair! I have mine like
ReplyDeletethat today too, just without the headband.
I'm wearing that and leather pants,
a Twilight shirt(because I'm seeing New Moon
again today!), and boots.
But I love your outfit! Those socks are sweet.
I do, I hate taking pictures, unless
I'm the one taking them.
Because I'm really picky about how I look
on camera. You look good though,
but I get what you mean. I never see myself
the same in the mirror as I do photos either.
I don't know why, but I feel like I look
so different. My friend and I talk
about how we think we look better in person
than on camera.
Hope you have a good day!
Hugs and love, Katie T.
because in the mirror you see things 'backwards', you see yourself like this too...as if someone took an image of your face and flipped it. so your features look slightly different.
ReplyDeleteit IS annoying because you get used to seeing yourself one way, and then realise that's not actually what you look like!
Catherine
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't have a camera, so I only take photos when I go to a party or something like this. It's funny because everytime I think I'm gonna look ok, I get a horrible photo...
But when I don't worry about how I will look I realy got a good one.
kisses
have a nice day
Yeah, it's the same. Of course, sometimes I say - "Hmm, that's not bad" or "That's nice". That's not bad, but that's not me. That's a nice-looking (and sometimes - not very nice-looking) girl, but it's not how I see myself. This really depends on a photographer. The worst thing about most of them is that they just press the button and don't care about your look. Or they want the cute image with your figure and also don't care about your look. It's very difficult to catch the real beauty with the lens. Even if you try hard. As for me, I love making photos but I'm rarely satisfied with them. But when my friends take photo of me, it's almost always a disaster. The lens cannot see as much as our eye can. It cannot see, so it cannot fix.
ReplyDeleteBut this don't matter, really. It's not you and not me in the photos. It's the different girls, the girls of that time, saying "cheese" or something like that. When you look in the mirror, you see yourself. When you talk to a person, he sees the real you. So leave the colorful photos for magazines! Few minutes of live chat can do the thing. No photo is able to express your nature and your feeling of life. Don't even care about it;) What you write tells more about you than your pictures;) That's why I love talking to people so much, that some think I'm strange;) The energy exchange is much more important!
So I send you a blast of positive and let's see if it reaches you through the net!
Love you,
Kira=)
lelayna: I do publish comments here that are not rude or insulting me or anyone around me. I can take critique if its written in a nice manner. You have every right to say what you feel, but remember: there are no "rules" in how to be the singer in a band, writing an album, liking fashion or not. Have a nice day;=)
ReplyDeleteWhen I see a picture of myself, it always looks like I wanted to kill the photographer or was just about to fall asleep XD
ReplyDeleteI guess you're amazing on the mirror too ;-)
ReplyDeleteI also don't see me the same way on the mirror and on photos. Sometimes, I think I'm cute when I'm looking in the mirror, but then I take a pic and it' like "Am I that bad??".
I wonder how is it for you when you see yourself on the net or on TV. How do you see yourself?
Oh, and I love your hairstyle in the pic!
Oh, and I don't want to argue, but I feel shocked about lelayna's comment. I mean, is it bad that you love fashion?? What does it have to do with Nightwish? I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteOf course NW has its own and magic atmosphere and you need to be into it to be NW singer, but that has nothing to do with your life as a person. I think the fact that you love fashion is a proof that you're a creative and imaginative person.
Of course, everyone has the right to have their own opinion, but it just makes me surprised that someone thinks that way.
You are wonderful as you are, and you're a really lovely Pippi Långstrump ;-)
Love from Spain.
Awww, Nettan! You look adorable =). I love your hair-do and earings =D.
ReplyDeleteUsually I never like to see myself on photos ... I'd rather see myself on the mirror he he. But there are some days that I think I look terrible ha ha =).
I agree with eskoplja, she said everything. If the person feels happy and healthy, that's the most important thing.
Hugs <3
I always hate, trying to take a picture of myself and be satisfied with it.
ReplyDeleteI look at photos that others have of me, and I think, well, they're not that great. But other people just think of them as normal photos. They don't think there is anything wrong with them.
So I wonder, just like on the answering machine, where you hear your voice is different, is the way you see yourself in a mirror like that too?
I think so.
But you don't have to worry, 'cause you look gorgeous in all of your photos!
Hugs,
Emily, xoxo
Hi again...
ReplyDeleteSo.. I just read lelayna's comment and I felt like I needed to write you again (but I don't really think you NEED anyone sticking up for you..).
I think your blog is about YOU, not Nightwish, so.. I guess you should write about whatever you want. When she wrote that you don't write as the NW singer.. I have to say. sometimes, when I'm reading your blog, I actually forget you ARE the NW singer.. But not in a bad way. I think the fact that I "forget" that makes me feel a little closer to you.. I love that you're just a normal person, like the rest of us, and you don't have the need to be writing only about music, and singing and stuff. I think that when NW starts the next tour, you'll probably write a little bit more about it, since it will be on your life everyday now, but.. See.. I don't feel like I need to know about the band the whole time.. You're on vacation and I bet the boys don't talk about nightwish all the time, why should you, right?
I think it's great that you show us your outfits, hairs and accessories.. It's nice to see what's out there, in the world. Here in Brazil we don't see many stuff like that.. when we do, it's so expensive and only on biiig stores and all.. It's nice to see what's up somewhere else. I feel like when I read your blog I don't learn only about you and your personal life, I feel like I learn a little bit of sweden, clothes and I love when you have some nice words to some of your fans who are going through some hard times.
So.. I think I feel exactly the opposite than lelayna when I read your blog. I admire you even more each day and I love your voice and all that. If you can write songs fast.. Good for you!! I don't think that's a problem in any way. People think that writing songs is something you do when God sends a light over our heads and it happens only once a month or something. Well.. I think writing songs is about hard work and if you can do it everyday, it's a great thing for you.
Well.. Now I'm off!! hope you like what I wrote!!
See ya!!
Hugs and kisses!
Hi Anette,
ReplyDeleteI love your hair-do :o I want to try to do the same... waow :) It's not difficult to do it ??
And also, yes, I fond me very different on same photos.
Have a nice day.
:) Hi Anette.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick comment about that earlier post by lelayna. You have many times replied to people on your blog helping them out and giving them advice. You also spend a lot of time replying to just little comments and that really can mean the world to someone. You are not Nightwish, you are Anette and I personally love reading your blog and all the more simple day to day things you do. It's really nice to read your blog, it's kind of like just chatting with your friend about hair and music and then sometimes a lot more deeper issues.
You are an inspiration Anette. You take time out for us fans and I loved one of your earlier blogs about the dream list.
You will always have my support and thousands of other Nightwish fans support. People only want to bring you down because they are unhappy with themselves. Dont ever let anyone bring you down. I admire your strength I really do.
About taking pictures, yeah I never think they look like me. I suppose the mirror shows us like an opposite image to what a camera sees and then when you take pictures you think 'I dont look like that'. It's strange to think the world sees you differently to how you see yourself. I hope though that inner beauty shows more than outer beauty. I usually think I look better in the mirror than on pictures for some reason.
You're hair looks amazing by the way :) and you looked incredible at The Dome! I cant wait to see the preformance.
All my love and support.
Love Kellie xxx
You know, I sometimes don't learn myself in photos and I am surprised. I seldom enough like my photos. Perhaps, it is because of my appearance...
ReplyDeleteAnette: I know there are not rules, and actually I didn't suggest that. Still I think that you should pay more attention how your actions affect NW, and maybe try to be more considerate. There are certainly not rules, I know, but still I think it's basic that people should accept you as a serious and professional person, especially when you are in a band with established reputation as Nightwish, for which they have worked for so long.
ReplyDeleteDear Anette!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely: YES! I am so uncomfortable with seeing my photos that there are some years in my life which noone was allowed to document with a pic ;) Nowadays I sometimes find this a little pity for I do not remember how I looked like then. But on the other hand I would not know myself if I saw me on a pic. It is just that we only know the inside of us and that might be quite different from what we show outside of us and all the others can see. Strange thing.
Have a nice evening. I have a rehearsal in an hour and am looking forward to it very much.
Best wishes,
Lisa
@lelayna: Hey there and thumbs up for having the courage for stating your opinion and argumentation. You are not the only one who thinks like that, I have already read some posts and comments on different websites and forums, sharing the same point of view as the one you have got there.
ReplyDeleteBUT still, I think the main reason why this blog looks like this and it revolves around this kind of "daily" issues and topics is because this is Anette's blog as in Anette the person, not the blog of Anette Olzon of Nightwish / collaborator of Pain/The Rasmus/ex-Alyson Avenue singer. I have never been in a band, never toured or confronted with the everyday tension of always having to give my best for the audience, always having to get along as well as possible with the other people in the group or living something like a "5 people + crew marriage", but still I realise that, had I been in such a situation, I would have probably felt the need to stop talking about the musical routine, the shows, my everyday vocal exercises, my upcoming thoughts for my carreer. I don't know if you remember, 'cause it was some time ago, but there was a "band diary" kinda thing on the official forum where the bandmembers were writing about the songwriting/arranging/recording process, their experience in the studio, thoughts about the album etc. If I am not wrong, Anette wrote in it as well, before being introduced to the audience as the singer and before we knew her name. What I wanna say is that this blog is not the Nightwish diary. Or the diary of the singer of Nightwish, or the manager's or anything. Of course there are divided opinions about this lack of "career information" shared in the blog, but there are many people (note the number of followers)who are actually thrilled by the idea of knowing about the everyday life of someone they admire, find about that person's tastes about music, food and even clothes, yes. Obviously, there are also people who think the exact opposite, since what they expect is finding out about the next album, singing tips and routine, details and the solo album compositions, maybe even stuff about the other Nightwish members' skills, career and musical occupation in the present.
The big picture, anyway, is that Anette cannot be asked or forced to write only things that the others expect her to write. Had she wanted to do that, she would have done another entry in the Nightwish diary and talk exclusively about what she does in order to maintain her voice, exercise her diaphragm, breath support and so on. And also, your comment sounded like as if Anette doesn't write about her vocalising routine, techniques and experiments here, she actually doesn't do them. Now, of course, I don't know how often she does them, in which moment of day etc, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't skip or neglect them, because if she did, she wouldn't manage to stay in shape for all the time since she's been singing.
So, lelayna, I understand your concern and your disappointment, it's normal to complain and point it out, but I think musical discussion was not the main purpose of this blog in the first place, though, of course, it would have done no harm.
Sorry for the length of my comment, Anette, and it wasn't my intention to turn this blog entry into a discussion or a debate, but sometimes, things like this are necessary and even constructive. Have a nice day! :)
Dear Anette,
ReplyDeleteI just read laylanas post and want to tell you that even if hair and clothes are not my favourite topics I do LOVE to read your blogs. And I love that you write what is important for you and let us take part in your every day life. I really like that VERY much for it gives me somehow the feeling to have some kind of friend out there and that the singer I like is a very kind and normal human being. I accept and like the way you express yourself. We are quite different but I do not care of that. I really LOVE your blogs and I am VERY grateful that you keep us informed so regularly! We all have things which are important to us despite our profession.
With deep respect,
Lisa
Oh you look so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteGood photos ^^
Everytime I see a group picture I think everyone's looking good but me, and in videos is the worst :$
It's so strange that we don't think we look the same in the pics though everyone says we do x)
Your hair looks great there, really stylish and origional.
ReplyDeleteAs for your question...I can't really answer that as I have body dysmorphic disorder which means that I see myself as horrifically ugly in both the mirror and photos. For this reason, I am very releived that I am not famous as I wouldn't be able to cope with the photos.
Don't worry about how you look, though, I don't think that I've ever seen a photo where you look bad - there are a couple where you look slightly tired, or a bit pale and ill but you never look bad. You have a veruy photogenic face.
Keep smiling!
Your hair looks beautiful like that Anette!
ReplyDeletexxx
With this photo question, do you mean "professional" photos (like your band promos) or just regular snaps taken by yourself or a friend?
ReplyDeleteHeh, I absolutely loathe seeing myself in those regular "tourist shots"! I once had some pics taken by a very good, pro photographer, with good lighting and the "right" angles and _those_ I liked, I was like "woah -- hey, I look actually _beautiful_ in those!" :D But otherwise.... blergh, I'm rather behind the lens than in front of it, heh :)
But, you're right, you do _not_ look the way you do in the mirror in photos -- especially if you take pics of yourself by yourself. The lens is easily too close and it distorts your facial proportions, like, your nose easily ends up looking much larger than it really is. Then, in these "tourist shots" the light is often far too "hard" and accentuates your features the wrong way.
And passport photos... good god, the horror! *laughs* I always manage to look like a murderous criminal or a dead corpse, LOL!
But, hey, I've never seen a bad picture of you! :) Congrats of the Dome performance, too -- great outfits you had! ;)
I'm new at this blog and i would like to talk about my photo experience.Everytime i take a pic of myself and look at it i always think that i look like crap...and i continue taking pics until i get a good one.But now that i think about itat the end it doesn't matter how i look but how i feel inside. That's all that matters i believe!
ReplyDeleteHej Anette!
ReplyDeleteFunny, we all seem to have a weird feeling about our own pictures somehow ;-) Me too, sometimes I want to erase many of my pics because I don't like how I look in them, and sometimes I can find that hey, maybe I'm better than I thought ;-) But as a whole, I've learnt to love myself inside and outside anyway, because it's just me, and learning to be our own greatest supporters is very important and healing, especially in hard times ;-) And also, like it has been said already, I am so thankful for being healthy that whatever pics of me I look at, I just feel happy to have the chance to live and be well :-)
So I want to send you and your dear one who is ill a big hug and many positive thoughts!
TO LELAYNA:
Please let me answer to your critiques to Anette by stating my own point of view. I totally disagree with every single word you say - I fail to see your point at all, actually. You have the right to say how you feel, but you don't have the right to say how Anette or anyone else should live their own life. The fact is, some people think that when a singer joins a band, then he/she must shape his/her own personality and lifestyle to what other people would like or expect, according to people's tastes and rules, not their own. To me, this is simply ridiculous and childish. All Anette has to do is being herself. If you have the right to stick to your own personality, she has this right just the same. Although she appreciates loving people around her, she is not looking for our approval in how she lives her life. You seem to be claiming that she should follow certain rules for her image... What are you talking of?? Do you really think you can set the rules for other people's life? Anette enjoys having a blog and communicating with whomever is interested. If you like her voice but not her lifestyle, then listen to the music and skip her blog. As simple as that. Please realize that it's not her problem if someone doesn't like her way of life. She's not obliged to please everyone.
Anette, of course I didn't mean to speak for you, I perfectly know that you can answer by yourself ;-) I just wanted to express my own ideas about this issue.
Enjoy life everybody! :-)
Elisa
Anette you are a very beautiful lady!!
ReplyDeletethose picture are so nice :-)
I really like your style!
Hugs
Ann
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeletewell, in photos you look really good, so I bet you are even more beautiful =). I always look terrible in pictures, rarely is the pic where I look decent, I always look with a fat face and a dumb expresion, that's why I don't really like to take pics of myself =(
About the change between photograph and looking in a mirror, on the photograph it always captures reality as it is, but it also depends onthe angle you take it, that's why sometimes you look with thiner face, or as if you gained weigh magically and so on hehe. And a mirror doesn't reflect reality as it is, there is always some distortion on your reflex, it's a phisicyal effect, but I'm not sure how to explain it...
btw... I love your hairstyle! would you like to share how you made it? Look gorgeous.
Have a nice time and take care!!
God kväll Anette and thanx for the pictures)
ReplyDeleteAnd yepp, it's always like that..I don't remember the time I was quite okay about pictures I'm in. Mostly photos make me look different and very often it's bad "me"..Like I find myself cute for example in the mirror but opposite the camera says "No, that's not that cute!"...So you're right)_ I've never seen you live but actually I think that you're totally photogenic so there's no reason to be worried about I think. You look amazing ;)The camera just makes everything more realistic and stopped in a while so that's why we cannot realize since we see ourselves while moving )_
kram,
Inga
hi again Anette. Sorry to bother you but could you tell me the best address to send you a hand-written letter? Is it your management or king foo in Finland? Or any other? Big thanks in advance with big hugs take care love carol x oceanborn82@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Anette! You always look great on pics!i've just read lelayna's comment and i just wanna say that i like when you talk about your favourite clothes, hairstyles, and especially when u sometimes write some really delicious reciptes!By this blog i feel that you're a very nice and kind and friendly person and that's awesome! Being a talented singer is great , but being also a good person is much more better and important! so you rule and i like you the way you are!
ReplyDeleteMuch love and respect!xoxo
I read the comment of Lalayne and would like to express myself a bit, if you allow, of course =)
ReplyDeleteIt's really easy to see that you write a lot about clothes, hair, gym, shopping, etc ... Really have a lot of blog posts about it .... But I think, what is the problem? After all, you like these themes, is part of you. Sure, sometimes you could write a little about music, some vocal training that you do something what happened in your days (if you want to share) , etc, etc, etc.. But the excence of this blog is you, your personality, so if you like to write about fashion, write.
When I started reading your blog I started to look more as a person than as an artist, you have an exceptional relationship with the readers of your blog. Sometimes I think I'm reading a blog of a normal person and not a singer, and this is what makes your blog so enjoyable to read, is not an informative blog, with news tour dates, and releases albums. It is a blog that shows to the people who you are, is a blog that humanizes you, it shows that you are not a goddess who is at a higher level, but a person just like any other that has tastes, family , friends and routines. That is, a normal life
What I mean by that is: write what you want, you can write about your job, clothes, poetry, aliens, wrestling or folk music of Afghanistan = D. Be who you are ;-)
Have a great end of day and have a very nice evening.
hugs from Brazil =)
sorry if you dont understand something, is becouse I use a translator =)
Kram på dig!
I have shame of myself, everybody around me make me feel ugly, and i really feel, so i never take photos and i hate mirrors, i hate everything that meke me see myself.
ReplyDeleteOh, i forgot, the mirrors are gates to another world, when you look yourself in the mirror, you're looking another one. [i don't know whhy i wrote this, but i listened in a movie and thought was a good idea to share with you.
ReplyDelete*Sorry fot the TERRIBLE english and hugs from Guatemala.
Hey Anette!
ReplyDeleteHow are you?!
Glad, you had a great time at The Dome :=)
Oh, I'm so sorry for this whole stupid playback-thing here in Germany -.- This must be really annoying for all the musicians that perform here on TV...
Oh, you look beautiful like always :=)
I just dyed my hair today. It's half brown, half violet now xD
Hugs & Love from (the stupid anti-live-performance) Germany...
Yours, Kim-Noêmia ♥
Hej Anette!
ReplyDeleteJag älskar ditt hår på bilden! ;)
Jag ser alltid yngre ut på kort av nångon anledning. hehe.
Kram Maja ;D
<3
Hii Anette =)
ReplyDeleteYou look very nice today, i love the socks!!!
About the photo thingy, I have exactly the same!.
I just had a 'shoot' today with my friend who's an artstudent for photography.
And when we were looking through the shots I kept going like O__O, my face looks so poofy on photos!.
And my eyes seem to be like, superclose together but when I look in the mirror they seem just okay.
I am starting to think that mirrors play tricks on our eyes...
Lots of love, Lisa <3
(excuse my paranoia xp)
Hair-do is awesome. You look sooo cute :-)
ReplyDeleteConsidering your question... mmm, well, I think that's almost everybody's problem. Actually, I have the same question almost everytime I look in the mirror or on my photos. Sometimes the girl on the photos looks better than I do, sometimes worse. Very often this girl looks like she's in her late twenties (just like my own emotional state), though I'm only 18 myself :) And it's very seldom when I see exactly myself on my photos. I like such photos the most.
By the way, I had a photo session as a model at the studio for tailoring shop 2 weeks ago (it was my first experience at the professional studio), and a couple of days ago I've got a few specimens of my photos. And I was so shocked by them, that it was difficult for me to say smth more than some inarticulate words. Because the photos were very very beautiful, and the girl on these photos was very cute, with smooth and perfect skin, dressed up in beautiful stylish clothes. She almost had all my features, but it was another girl, not me :) Such a strange feeling. I think that photos that were made in the studio are killing some... sincerity. Haven't you got such emotions when you look on your studio photos, that were made for some magazines or something like this?
And I want to say a few words about you. Yes, I know that it's very difficult to imagine what the famous person (like you) look like in the real life, how (s)he behaves and so on. But whatever you want or not, you create some image of this person in your head. And when you meet this person, this image can just turn to dust. So that had happened to me when I met Anette in the Moscow airport, just before her departure. So I will always remember you as a cute blonde, very sociable, open-hearted, with catching smile. That should sound a little bit unflattering, but you don't always look like this on photos. Well, I can say that there are two Netties in my head. The first one I have already described, the second one appears on some concert photos, in magazines and so on. Both are very attractive, very outstanding and nice, but I like the first one more ;-)
And always remember - it's very important what the soul and heart each person has. One sincere smile is thousand times more beautiful than the arrogant beauty with icy heart. So such a pretty and open-hearted girl like you has nothing to worry about ;-)
With love,
Maria ^^
Lelanya needs a MAN!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right Anette. It happens to me too (and to lot of people too, I'm sure). When I look at photos of me, the first thing I always think about is: Did I really have that expression on my face? I wasn't that smiley or that serious! Also, I tend to see myself thinner or fatter than I really am.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, it's like the camera transformed us into a twin of us who had features which we don't like hihihi.
Take care and good night ^^
I am with some people above. I think the spirit of your blog is to show who you are, your personality.
ReplyDeleteI don't think these will affect Nightwish. Why?
Anette Olzon and Nightwish don't owe nothing to no one. They don't need to give satisfaction of their choices and activities. And also, Anette doesn't need to show a person she is not just because of Nightwish.
What we need nowadays are more truthful people without those thoughts "this should be in this way" or "this is not compatible to this".
My English is a bit limited, so, sorry for any mistake.
Fábio
@lelayna:
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to make a couple of points, just to give you something to think about.
1) If Tuomas (for example) had a blog, do you honestly think it would be completely dedicated to Nightwish and his keyboarding or do you think he'd post about what he enjoys in his spare time?
I agree with you that, for a band member, that band would be a huge part of their life but they would also have to have other interests to escape to else the band and their creative journey would soon become boring.
2) You said that you had heard that Anette was a "professional".
Here's a thought: perhaps, as a professional, she does not go into detail about her vocal training because for her it is just another part of her routine. Would you blog about something you do everyday like brushing your teeth?
(sorry if I am presuming too much, Anette, but this is the way I imagine it would be)
I'm not saying that you're wrong, lelayna - I'm sure Anette can defend herself if she wants to - I just wanted to show you that there are other ways of looking at the situation.
Just a quick comment on Lelyana's (excuse my spelling) comment.
ReplyDeleteI think it is perfectly okay to express your feelings and thoughts about Anette and her blog, and im glad you do it without the swearing etc.
However I do think that you're highly overreacting on the whole thing.
Anette is an individual, who happens to like fashion as well as music.
Anette is a very considerate person for letting us fans know what she's up to because we LIKE and WANT to hear from her.
And if you are so against her subjects in her blog, then why do you even read it?
Even though Nightwish is a big part of her life, it is not the only one, that wouldn't be good.
Anette is not Nightwish, Anette is IN Nightwish, a part of the band, one fifth of the band.
And besides as you so cleverly mentioned yourself, this is indeed her personal blog.
So is it really that weird that she posts parts about herself?
(Anette Olzon...Personal Blog...Get the picture???)
Anyway, I must say I am glad you posted your comment in a mature, non offensive way.
But I would recommend to think things through a bit more carefully before posting them.
Furthermore: Anette, you rule for being such an amazingly insanely awesome and beautiful person.
I love you for who you are and what you do.
Keep rocking hard!!!
Lots of love, Lisa <3

Wow, Anette, I thought that you didn't approve disrespectful comments here, and I tried to be as civil in my posts as possible, but I seе you don't have problem approving and posting disrespectful comments about others, haha.. I actually read about that in a forum, someone complained that you do such things, but since I haven't read comments posted here before, I just thought that this is another fabrication of an anti - Anette person. I don't take this seriosly of course, but I must tell you that wow, I'm really surprised, haha. Anyway, it was a pleasure to read what the others had to say about the matter.
Regards
Woah woah woah! Wait a tick. Anette... Really? I mean.... Really?? I understand that you do not condone negative comments here about you, it is your blog after all, but uh....
ReplyDelete~~>"Lelanya needs a MAN!!!!!!!!!!"<~~
Now, I'm assuming that if the quote above was directed at you that you wouldn't post it but since it is directed at someone who spoke out against you, it is ok to publish it all of a sudden? Are you ok with negativity against others here, then? I'm sorry, Anette, but this is wrong in my opinion... Some people have spoken out in a polite manner and I hold a lot of respect for all of them but to publish really bad comments that bash others should not be done. I've followed your blog since the beginning and I, as well as a lot of others here, have seen that you are a really kindhearted woman who cares for the fans and believes in spreading good. But publishing posts that bash those who don't like you is just like saying that you're more important and better than everyone else. That no one can talk bad about you but can talk bad about others. It's hypocrisy...
Anyway, it's 2 in the morning and this just shocked me so I apologize if this post offends you, Anette. I really hope that it doesn't. I just couldn't help but comment on this.
Oh my! No comment from me...okay, I just got off a plane a few hours ago, sitting here in Schiphol airport having just witnessed two people fighting at the gate which I am totally agast and now a bit scared, tired and I am not happy at all! For blessed sake of people's opinions ( I do respect them), but must add...I enjoy reading Anette's and other people's blogs because it's interesting to see what they're into, thinking, their thoughts and news, not about the people around them or who they're affiliated with. Sure, I am a nightwish fan and started reading her blog because of that association but certainly do not expect her to talk about the band or about the other's personal lives. And what she does in her own time is her own business not the band's, Tuomas' and ours.
ReplyDeleteHer blog is her own and what she wants to write about. Furthermore, she should not have to be someone one she is not. This is why I continue to come here because her words and williness to help are genuine, not fake or too polished to give someone the time of day because they are an actor or singer. Many people who read it get inspiration from her because she is humble and just like everyone else out there.
I respect opinions, I really do and if I seem grumpy I apologize for that, but I get so annoyed by comments that are critical and really belong on a forum or some place else.
Marie,
if you catch this thank you so much for your kinds words. I read your posts and will let you know how things are when I arrive. I have to go as my plane is boarding and no internet on the plane. 12 hrs more to go before I get to Tambo and another 2 to Pretoria. This has been a long trip already! I detest airports!
Anette, quickly just wanted to say thank you for keeping your posts genuine. I neglected to add anything in my previous post to you. This is your post after all... Just a heck of a day.
ReplyDeleteBye for now

OMG... I can't believe this. How could this comment be approved...
Anyway... I've been reading this blog from time to time. I'm not a fan, but I respect Anette as a person and I don't want to insult anybody at all. But I agree with Lelayna, and I respect other opinions too. I guess we just shouldn't be reading things we have no interest in. :p Of course everyone can write whatever he/she wants in her blog. It's just that we all have our own opinions about things.
The question is who reads the blog and why. And the answers are many... I thought people who read this blog are fans, and they want to know about music mostly, because that's Anette's profession and a reason why she gets the chance to be heard by incredibly wide range of people from different places in the world and of different age. I never could imagine that people would want to know about every item she's ever purchased. Also, I'm amazed by the amount of time Anette is able to put in this blog... I guessed she'd be too busy for that. I just want to say, there are many other artists and musicians, also beautiful ladies, who also take care of themselves, eat healthy, excercise and like beautiful clothes and make up, that write blogs or communicate with their fans in some different way, but they don't make those activities sound like their whole life revolves around them, or take the time to explain from which fashion designer every piece of clothing they wear come from. Doing that makes you look kind of shallow I think. But nevermind me, I just had the will to write this, people who enjoy this blog should just keep on doing that, we all like different things, right? And that's beautiful, this variety in the world. And there is also different sides to everything, I always try not to be too subjective or judgemental, so I guess maybe we can all enjoy different aspects in the blog, find something for yourself. For example, I like pics taken somewhere in the nature and posts about lovely cats! :) So it seems I said many contradictory things now, but if you think about it, maybe not so contradictory after all. :) Greetings to all!
Well, on photos I feel that I have never see me
ReplyDelete(as you have already written)
But sometimes I need a photo of myself =)
I try to make nomral photos but I love photos were you only see one of my eyes or only the half face...
All my respect, love, big hugs and many kisses from Austria,
Laura
That's so nice outfit, it's simple but still very beautiful. Your hair looks so amazing. I love that kind of hair-do!
ReplyDeletePhotos of me never are succesful. There's always something wrong in me when someone takes a photo. I really don't recognize myself. And I don't look like me in the photos :D
Dear Anette,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your hair-do...looks great!
I think the best pictures of me are when I don't think too much like: "This has to be a perfect picture!" or it's even better if I don't know that someone is taking a picture!
I look really different in pictures than in reality...it looks like me but not the way I see myself!
You also look different in pictures...
When I saw you in reality, I didn't recognize you from the first moment...well but I must say that it was better than seeing you in any picture!
Good night and sleep well!
Love,
Herta
Hm. I happened to notice the reference to comments in one of the latest blog entries, and unwillingly found myself reading said comments. So, for my two cents.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, just to get it out of the way. That needs-a-man comment was rather out of line, but most of all irrelevant to the topic. What l-person needs is for her to know, and I really can’t be bothered to comment any further on the matter.
Here’s my actual point.
Many people seem oblivious to the fact that artists (actors, singers etc) are *not* at the service of the audience – not when their personal lives are involved. As long as they do their job on the screen/stage, I don’t see why they should be expected to talk only/mostly about certain things in their spare time. o_O Anette is *not* obliged to write this blog. It is really sweet that she does, and I’m sure that it’s making many fans really happy.
Having said that, no one – fan or otherwise – has any prerogative to request that she focus on a certain topic. What she writes here is entirely up to her, and the fact that she’s fronting a band (NW) does not mean that she’s no longer free to be the way she wants to be or to say the things she wants to say. Whoever thinks that is the case might want to reconsider that line between work and everyday life. This isn’t her work. This is something she chose to do.
I do understand that fans are eager to know more about NW or her album or various other projects, and I’m sure she’s done her best to keep everyone up to date, revealing as much as she could. I appreciate that. (And speaking of it, the recording process for this solo album sounds quite exciting, and a lot of fun! ;) I hope it all works out as planned.)
Now, regarding the actual posts – it’s easy for everyone to judge or flame or simply express their opinion while in the safety of anonymity. On the other hand, it takes a lot of courage to state one’s thoughts and opinions when one no longer has the aforementioned safety. Anette has all my respect for doing that, and for continuously putting up with a lot of unfounded hate. I’ve grown to really like her voice, and I’m really glad that I now have this opportunity of learning a bit about the person behind the singer as well. :)
And last but not least, this is her blog, and whatever comments she wants to allow she will, and whatever comments she prefers not to allow – just as well. It shouldn’t be this much of a deal, imo.
Best wishes,
Lane
P.S.: Yes, the way we see ourselves in a photo may differ from the way we see ourselves in a mirror. I’d say from personal experience that it’s all about finding the most flattering angles for your features. And of course, the lighting is important. But hey, if all else fails, pics can always be touched up in terms of colour/lighting/contrast. ;)
hi sending love for you and Nightwish from Puerto Rico! :)
