Hi there!
Been to the gym a bit later today since I slept so long, woke up at 9.15 and thats very late for me. Guess I was tired and the weather is so grey and rainy today so might be that;=)
I have gotten some comments that say that running is dangerous to the health! and that I should be careful? I really dont understand how someone can say that running isnt good for the health?
So is it better to sit and watch TV, eat ice cream all day, not moving at all?
No, really. Running, exercising in moderation and eating good food is always good for the body.
Enjoy the day now!

Anette,
ReplyDeletei agree with you, it's the same that mothers told me before. My father usually does that.
I haven't read the comments but maybe they meant it isn't good for the knees? That's kinda true but it isn't that simple either.
ReplyDeleteDepending on the cause of pain in knees one can do things to prevent damage. Like train certain muscles to stop abrasion of joints and so on.
Please send the rain here I'll give you sunshine and +27 degrees in trade! Maybe I would get my self cleaning the house then ;)
Have a nice and sunny weekend there! :)
I can't speak for the person who told you this, but the only reason I can think running would be considered bad for you is because of the impact on your joints. You can develop injuries if you're not careful and such.
ReplyDeleteBut of course you are right - totally okay in moderation, as long as you are careful.
Running may be dangerous for someone who weight really a lot of and he want make large distance for few first times in this situation his heart can has some problems but when someone take care of his body like you Anette can't have any problems ;)
ReplyDeleteSo I do not understand this people who said that this is unhealthy for body ;)
Hugs from warm Cracow :)
Hi Anette.
ReplyDeleteLong sleep is nice, I think. A friend of mine had only slept one and a half hours last night and therefore was very tired at school; couldn't breathe properly, couldn't look properly and then had to leave school for today. So, short sleep or no sleep at all is very unhealthy. (/random story taken from my own life which has close to nothing to do with what you wrote which makes me feel useless...)
Transition to what you wrote: Short sleep or no sleep at all is almost as unhealthy as watching TV and eating ice cream all day. Seriously, I haven't read the comments you received but I agree from what you wrote that it's just shit. Or hyper-concernment. Both, probably.
Yes, the chances to hurt yourself are higher when you do sports than when you don't but it's not like you immediately get hurt or anything when running. If you ran in minefields, that would be quite unhealthy and not advisable but I guess that you don't, so, where is the point in saying running is unhealthy?
So, I completely agree with you. :)
Have a nice day and take care,
Luisa
Hello Anette !!
ReplyDeleteI never heard that running was bad for your health, because even the doctors recommend people to run a little bit and eat good food,so,i think it's not bad,if it was bad i'm sure everyone would know about that !!
Running too much might be bad,but a little bit everyday is good and it also makes you drink water =) Don't worry Anette !
Kisses and Hugs from Portugal

Hi Anette, Of course you are right! Some people i guess just worry too much & I tell you stress & worry is more bad for you!!!!

Kisses
Kelly
Oh have a great weekend XXX
Hi dear Anette,
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing well? How many kilometers of (damn) running today? ^^ Something tells me that you are in form, bad girl Anette :S! :-))
So you're asking why running coul be dangerous? Hmm...?? OK here is the answer: of all the sports, running is the most aggressive for the body (for bones, tendons and muscles among other...). Next of course it depends on the way you do it: practice in moderation it "can be "a little less dangerous", anyway there are numerous very important points to learn about it. Here are some of the answers you need to know: http://www.medicinenet.com/running/article.htm ; http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/27/health/nutrition/27best.html ; http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/sportsmedicine/a/runninginjury.htm ; [ RUNNING is the most aggressive sport: http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=1936561&page=0 ; etc...!! ]
However the best professionals in the field of information and prevention are in the sports medicine, and guess why this specialty was created in medicine... ;=)
For real I could explain lots of things here Anette but it would be too long ^^ I practiced intensely running for several years so I had to learn a ton of information to no longer pick up tendonitis, tenosynovitis, stress fractures, etc... .
Long live the running!!! :-))
Please dear Anette, read my links (among other), Thanks :) We love you and just want you Alive & standing up in real form;=)
KellyJane: Some people don't "just worry too much"... they "just have" several years of experience in running!! - and other sports btw - ;) Thus they can warn about their dangers; please read the links I posted above, thanks! You can also check you in documenting it for yourself; the dangers of running are such that prevention is not what is missing! is this practiced in free amateur [the worst ^^] or even more intensely:D Hope I answered clearly enough? ;-)
Have a sweet evening and enjoy the days in good health dear Anette :) when sport causes damages it stops us and we can be forced to "prolonged and forced rest" =(
So Long live the music, the family, the friends, the nature walks...;=)
Lots of love,
Best thoughts to you and all family

And you look awesome to prove the poing Anette!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm a silent reader of this blog as i'm a fan of yours and like to keep up with what you get up to, but i have to say that the way you wrote this entry didn't read too nice at all.
It isn't a bad thing that people are concerned about you. Running CAN cause problems to not only your knees like some people have already mentioned but also your feet, ankles, hips and lower back. Especially if you have never run before and start at a later stage in your life.
I work on patients all day long as a physiotherapist that 'earn' these types of injuries from years of running. Sometimes it only takes months. Super fit, conditioned athletes or someone that is just starting out. Even people that USED to run but stopped for a while and then get back into it. Bodies change... Constantly. You can not know what is going on inside or any damage that might be happening. So DO take it easy and don't push yourself. I don't think anyone meant for you to stop out right. Just to maybe mix things up a bit.
It saddened me to see you respond in such snappish way, towards people that meant you no harm and only had your best interest at heart.
Peace and take care of yourself.
-Sleepy Sparrow
Good Morning Anette,
ReplyDeleteHmmm, quite odd indeed…I really have no idea how someone could think this was truly dangerous…especially when you are always giving yourself the proper rest, not pushing your body when it doesn’t feel right, and working your way up to harder workouts. Well, hopefully their concerns have been put to rest for there is no doubt that exercising is extremely healthy for your body? That and eating healthy food as you’ve said :).
Oh, and your new hair color is beautiful by the way, thank you for the pictures.
I pray this is a wonderful day for you!
Take care,
Alexandria
@dorak: I agree. People who run a lot are more likely to have knee problems than others. But in a way you're not wrong, Anette, since fat people watching tv all day and eating junk food may have knee problems - and many others due to their weight. Well, as long as you have good sport shoes and that you are careful when you feel pain here and there, I think that running is not that harmful. But every sport must be practised well anyway.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, dear =)
Lucinda
Sleepy sparrow: Hi and thanks for your comment. Well, I didnt think I sounded snappy, so sorry if it came through as I did. But I feel that saying that running is dangerous is wrong, cause moving and exercising is proved to be good for your health. And running has proved to be one of the best ways to keep healthy and your body strong throughout life. What you talk about, injuries, are of course never good and any athlete need to take caution with good equipment, getting enough rest e g. But to say it is dangerous to run for our health is not the same as to say be careful to not injure yourself, two different thing we´re talking about, you and me. Enjoy the evening now;=)
ReplyDeleteHi dear Anette,
ReplyDeleteSleepy Sparrow is totally right! Not only athletes can have serious injuries because of running (I have been the living proof of it...). Didn't you read the links I posted to your attention in my last message?
Professionals know it and people who had already done it free also: running is more dangerous than you could ever imagine.
Running will Never prevent you when it will cause an injury to your body, even if you don't practice it "like an athlete" :( Here is the real danger.
And The Only reason why we try to make you understand it is for your good: we already know it so we take very much care and we don't want you undergo such problems.
For which other reason do you think that we would we spend time to explain all this to you?? =(
I'll be honest I'm disappointed that you don't want to believe us (When I was running free I was sure that everything was OK... till the day I had very bad surprises).
Another FACT: running is still dangerous but really less for "young" people, I mean about 17/25 years old... what means that the more we get older the more we risk injuries, and Always by surprise :( Why don't you ask doctors if you refuse to believe us? =)
Reading you is disappointing dear Anette; I hope with all my heart that you will become aware of these truths.
These are FACTS which arrive far too often so I hope you won't be the next to suffer!
Please think of your family and your career!... also of All those who support you and believe in you, Thanks :)
There are so much healthier physical exercises for health: walks in nature with your family, swim with your family...;=)
Please take care dear Anette, all this is for you: those who already have experience of these problems will beware forever and they would love that it doesn't happen to the others, especially those they adore :)
Have a nice evening dear Anette and take care.
Lots of love;=)
I have a professional personal trainer, and she has also published some books about sports in general, and I think you have misunderstood that comment about "how running is bad". Running isn't bad, but if you do it too much - YES. Especially for women. Men are more resistent against it,but fast walking is more effective for us than running every day. Women's muscles have different construction, and it also isn't good for the ankles and knees. IF YOU DO IT TOO MUCH. Trice a week should be fine. Inbetween some fast walking (and if your tread mill supports it, you can also put some 5-8% of slope) and it's perfectly great. You need some changes too in your programs! :)
ReplyDeleteZack: But running is fun so I´ll keep on doing it;=) But I do rest and take care, I promise! Sleep well!
ReplyDeleteAnette even if you were being snappy (which i don't think you were!)WHO CARES!! You can be snappy sometimes if you want... your only human & its your blog & you are the boss here.. No-one else!
ReplyDeleteAnyway sometimes snappy women are feisty & sexy :D ;)
Me iam just dangerous hahaha (joke)

Hej Anette,
ReplyDeleteI never heard that running is dangerous for the health, but I heard that running shoes are right these shoes which arent so good for your bones and joints..
But in a world like this no one knows what is right or wrong..
But I have to say, that I dont know any 40 years old woman which is soo fit and in shape like you ;=)
Hugs
Laura
So silence is golden;=)
ReplyDeleteGood luck Anette, feel free to do everything you want;=)
Btw I wonder why you post such discussion topics... to the whole world!! :-/
KellyJane: This is a public blog that all people of whole world can comment and... read! :D We are on the Internet what means that these publications can affect Anette's career (...) :-&
Best wishes everyone.
I myself run 3 times a week (no more than 3km at one time cause I've just started). I am overweigh and my trainer tells me that I really shoudln't run more than that because it is hard on the joints. I guess that if you're not overweight the pressure isnt as bad on your joints, but it is still very easy to overdo it and push your joints to start giving up earlier. My 45 year old friend used to run like every day for a couple of years, and now he can't run at all because his joints gave up on him. That must be the worst thing ever, loving to run and then not be able to do so anymore!
ReplyDeleteOf course it is not wrong at all to run a couple of times a week if you like it and your body likes it! Like you say, working out is really good for you in general.
However, it is also extremly important that you take resting days and let your body regain it's strenght. Also, it is really good if you mix training, not only run but maybe do some yoga, aerobics and stuff like that so that the body gets different types of training.
By the way, I was in Helsingborg yesterday and visited the Tropikariet. Have you been there? It was really great! I really think you should go there with you kids if you havn't been there.
I also got to hold a stick insect in the "pet the animals area", which was totally creepy!
Have a nice evening now!
/Lise
Well,I´m able to run too but I can do that just a little bit at a time so I cannot run continuously and actually not a long distance with walking either.I exercise other ways so I feel that I don´t need to and in a way I don´t have interest anymore to run.
ReplyDeleteSo,good morning
