Ok, so I have read some comments in you tube and in here about Britney using Fantasmic as intro...
In the contrary to many people I think its great that she uses it! Its good for Nightwish to get people to hear the song and its great that metal music AND pop and soul and whatever can be used together. I cant understand why some people think metal is better than pop or the opposite?
Music is great and I cant understand why people need to create conflicts when there is not reason for it..
Come on, its just music;=)

Hi my dear Anette
ReplyDeleteI agree with you!
love
Isabelle
Well... Honestly i am surprised that she ever heard about Nightwish to use their song. It's not that kind of music that she would listen too. But it's good thing though. May be some ppl will be interested and they will find out about Nightwish and u will get more funs in USA.
ReplyDeleteI agree wi' the fact that one genre is not better than the other. I guess people do not agree wi' Spears using the song because of how commercial she is and stuff and that she's for kids anyway. I personally 'ate american musicians, that's my problem wi' all this, it's not about the pop or the music.
ReplyDeleteAsira: Why wouldnt Britned be able to like Nightwish or metal? I love so many different music styles like jazz, classic, soul, funk, pop, metal, hard rock etc... so why wouldnt she? Music has no bounderies or limits and some people do have a broader taste in music than others...
ReplyDelete@ Anette :well she has the right to use the music I love also the mixture of musical genre.
ReplyDeleteLove
Isabelle
Goodmorning Anette,
ReplyDeleteI think you're right. As long as someone doens't use the whole sing it's ok. And face it, It's a great intro now ;)
Have a nice day!!
Hugs,
Danielle
I think its really great too!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I would have been to this concert I would have been jumping on my seat for the excitement! =)
But you know Anette this is about the same old thing again. People categorize you in a certain way and theres no way you can be anything else..Its hard for them to understand that someone could actually listen to pop and metal. And some people think that metal is such a special thing that no pop artist deserves to listen to it or use it at their shows..
Danielle, Lol @ the though of Spears trying to sing Fantasmic.
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree with you! If whoever decided the intro (I bet it wasn't Britney) chose Nightwish, it's GREAT for you guys!
ReplyDelete...and for the audience too, as they'll finally get three minutes of good music at a Britney concert :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD (just kidding :D)
You're right, music is music, whatever it sounds
ReplyDeleteeveryone like a different kind and genre of music
I most like metal, rock, and all genres connected with those two main genres, i listen all genres too (not so often like metal and rock), except balkan turbo folk which is brrrrr for me... but i don't judge people who does
have a nice day
hugs
I agree with you Anette! =)
ReplyDeleteI think it's great if she uses 'Fantasmic' as her intro. Maybe Britney is a Nightwish fan =D.
Hugs
Good morning Anette!
ReplyDeleteI think there's NOTHING wrong in Britney using 'Fantasmic' samples. I don't understanding why there's such a horror about it? I think it's quite honorable if another artist finds, in a totally different music from which he makes, something fascinating, interesting, appealing which wants to use in their own music to give it a better taste or sound. Like you said: It's music after all. Music has no boundries. It shouldn't have at least. I don't understand why pop artist shouldn't be inspired by metal or rock artists or opposite. I believe that it's wonderful to discover new ideas and inspirations in a music which is so different from music is made, in terms of style or genre. Take a look at Northern Kings for example. They covered totally poppy songs from the 80s and they did it fantasic or in the recent interview with Marty Friedman (ex-lead quitar Megadeth) talked about TVXQ (The biggest Korean pop boyband which I like very much) saying that they make a great quality pop music, with very professional production and very cool sounds, so I say, why not Britney using samples from Fantasmic?
Free music. Free world :D
Thanks for the post Anette!
Have a beautiful day!
<3
Karo
@ Babsy_NW : lol very great!!
ReplyDeleteHi there :)
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't bother me at all she uses fantasmic as intro, of course i'm quite surprise but afterall her show is very great and why not using a nightwish song to begin this fantastic show ^^
Have a nice day, take care!
hey Anette =]
ReplyDeletewhat is the video called?
I'm glad Nightwish are being shared in such a nice way =] ^_^. It makes me smile. Oh please come to england and come on the 'Paul O'grady Show' that would be so awesome =]
*Hugs And Bunnies*
xxxxx
Hey Nettie. Yes , music is just music. I can listen to all kinds of it , but most metal , Gothic and hard rock.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is a B-Day card for your son (sorry , I know it's late , but I was in Germany on surgery so I couldn't make it on time)
So...here it is
http://i28.tinypic.com/mb7ga0.jpg
@Aynuk =]
ReplyDeleteThe video was linked in the comments to the "Awaken..." post, this morning :)
if the music is good, it doesn't matter what genre it is, it's important that it does what it's supposed to, give you pleasure or relaxation, sure, some of us prefer different music styles over other, but that's because our brain reacts differently to different types of stimulations.
ReplyDeleteAnd I see this as a victory for a metal genre, it becomes more popular every day, why should that be bad and shuned?
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI was suprised that Britney uses Fantasmic asan intro... I'm not her fan but I'm happy for you guys that she knows about you. I mean it's always nice to hear that famous people like your music and it would be nice if Britney would take you as a role model because you don't cause so many troubles as she does... But I heard that she isn't acting so crazy now so good for her...
Nightwish has to keep up with good work and maybe soon we will hear that Madonna is your big fan or maybe Obama... ;D
Hugs and kisses from Ana
People should open their minds (or stop thinking that they really love music, dunno). Music isn't just metal, pop, jazz, whatever. I think music is a form of life, and there are many ways to live a life ;).
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Hi Anette,
ReplyDeleteWell I don't have nothing against that Britney used the intro of a Nightwish song, maybe she is a real Nightwish fan.=D
And I agree with you music mustn`t have labels at all.I personally listen to many genres besides metal including classical music, folk, jazz, celtic, opera and 80's pop music and I really love all of them.
But the thing that bothers me is that Britney used the song without having permission.Or did she had?=D
Anyway,Anette I wish you a wonderful day :)
Hugs And Kisses,
Cristina
I'm very surprised! I wouldn't thought that Britney uses this song in her gigs...
ReplyDeleteOf course it's great publicity to Nightwish!
I can't understand why Britney can't like metal. Because, for example I listen many music styles, like Nightwish and even Pink. But I do like more metal and rock than pop, but anyway, people can have very wide music taste and it's only a good thing. =)
Eh? I didn't even know that Britney was using Fantasmic as an intro. To be honest, I like many different kinds of music too, and in most senses I don't think there's anything wrong with this use of a Nightwish song (I mean, it'll even get many people who wouldn't have heard NW to hear the music!). However, one thing that does worry me a little bit is that I really don't know how much control over her life Britney has, whether she's really doing what she likes or being exploited. When the media work so hard to get stories on a person like her, it's very difficult for an ordinary person like me to really know what to believe when it comes to her. So I guess my uneasiness is just about NW's music possibly being abused in that sense.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that Britney Spears uses a Nightwish song as an Intro. I guess there is no bigger compliment for a band than another artist crediting the other this way and lots of people learn about Nightwish this way, too.
ReplyDeleteWhy should be something that only certain people (metal scene) are allowed to listen to?
Unfortunately some people in the metal scene are very elitist and too quickly judge everyone who is not "metal" enough, whatever that means. I guess you (Anette) have experienced this yourself countless times when people did not like the way you dressed because it was not "metal" enough, as if it would have anything to do with the music, but it shows how narrowminded some people think. I think this self-proclaimed elitism is complete rubbish. Hell, I don't look like a metal chick either (how do they look, anyway?) but just because I - and now come the cliches - don't sport countless tattoos, ultralong uncombed hair, metal studs and a can of beer in my hand (LOL) I would not know what else does not mean that I cannot enjoy metal music.
And it also does not mean that I am not "allowed" to listen to pop. I like pop music as much as metal or progressive rock, variety is what makes it less boring.
I will never get the strictly-metal-judgement by so many people.
So many people should start getting a life and most of all, enjoy it!
Good for Britney! =)
Hi Anette! I don't know this Britney-thing, but I so agree with you - it's so stupid to categorize music and be so closed-minded that you can't stand anything that doesn't follow the "rules". :) Why not just relax and listen to it as it is, and see if you feel good. :D WHY should music, or even the TASTE of music, have such rules? I'll never understand. It's like... if you listen to hard rock or heavy, then you can't like Abba. ;D Well, I do! And I'm sure Britney as so many others, do like other kind of music than what they make themselves!
ReplyDeleteMmh ok, I haven't heard of this but why not?..I agree with you, Anette...it's cool that different styles of music get used together :)
ReplyDeleteHugs xxx
Exactly it's just music and it should bring together and not the people into another "conflict"
ReplyDeleteOkay honestly I don't like britney spears music but that don't mean that I piss her off at youtube or whereever. This is just shit if people who think they "know so many thinks" about music even van't sing a straight tune or don'T know great music legends like queen, acDc, elvis etc. and suddenly say "hee, who's that?" if the name appears...
But they know so many thinks and have all the rights to slam proffessional singers down.
as I already said music should bind together....
HEnrik
Same with clothing, like you can't like metal or gothic music because you don't dress in black all the time :s
ReplyDeleteI get this all the time.
I agree with you about the fact that music has no boundaries, however Britney Spears is not even music for me. She is nowhere close to quality pop music , she's just a commercial phenomenon resulted in a pretty bad singer with a pretty bad "music" . It's nowhere close to what I call music and art. She's just like that useless Paris Hilton.
ReplyDeleteHowever it's good for Nightwish, to get some publicity.
Come on, its just music;=)
ReplyDeleteWord :-)
Methinks this is great advertizing for NW -- especially because it's not yet such a "huge" name in the States. Maybe this'll increase the visibility and get people more curious ;-)
Re: musical tastes -- couldn't agree more with versatility. I listen to almost everything, smoothly from metal to trance techno (great exercising music! ;-)), classical, industrial, electro... you name it. Good grief, life would be horrible if you should religiously follow just one genre in your likings (and dissect and over-analyze every piece of music, art, movie, whatever to bits -- some of these most puritanistic metalheads can be a tad annoying sometimes...) O__O Music is about _feelings_, damnit! ;-)
Versatility is one big reason why I've liked NW for so long, too. Heheh, managed to convert even my 70+ year old parents to fans ;-) (maybe I'll drag them with me to a gig someday... :-P)
Hi Anette,
ReplyDeleteSome people might not know, but Nightwish also uses music from other artists. I love the music from the film Blood Diamond by James Howard and Crimson Tide written by Hans Zimmer.
Music crosses all borders, so be gentile to eachother :)
Hugs Will Therèse
To Katrin: great post! =)
ReplyDeleteAnette: yes I agree, people should stop put music in closed box and set fixed boundaries. What's the point of it? They just turn music into a conflict, when it actually is the opposite: an expression of freedom, genuine feelings and communication. Those people are just unable to really feel and enjoy the true spirit of music... and life.
Thank you for your open-minded personality! =)
Love and hugs,
Elisa
Okay, well I think yes, it's pretty
ReplyDeletecool for her to use the song,
and great for Nightwish, but I still think
it's kind of odd. With certain types of music,
you may feel a certain way.
You may want to clap to country, scream
to metal, and dance to pop.
I think that sometimes when you mix those,
it kinda throws that off.
Yes, sometimes it sounds/looks really good.
But it's still weird to try and do that.
*And do NOT take that as me dissing Britney
or any music genre because
I personally think it's good to have
an openmind about this kind of thing.
And to you saying "it's just music",
I think music is more then that, and you may
agree. You can't get the same
reaction out of Poet and the Pendulum if
you are really truly listening to it,
or if you think of it as just music.
With certain songs may come certain emotions.
Someone may listen to the
same song no matter what if they are
feeling a certain emotion.
Some may have a certain song for every
emotion. Others see songs as an escape.
And that's why some like
certain genres better than others.
And I think that it's like
that with Eva and Nemo. You wouldn't smile
and sing Eva. So it's more then
just music, it's the mood the music creates.
Hugs and love, Katie T.
There are many different forms of music and nobody has the right to dismiss some forms as inferior. Everyone has their own taste and it's good if people are open minded enough to like both.
ReplyDeleteMy son Daniel went to see Britney Spears show in London because he likes her but he's also seen Nightwish 3 times on this tour and is going to Helsinki for the final show. He just loves music!
Tom
Well... some music is not music lol (aka someone growling + a howling sintethyser) and there are more examples, some house/dance songs too. Metal is just more profound and filled with message than the others. :)
ReplyDeleteHello, Anette!)
ReplyDeletehe-he, I think it wasn't even Britney's choice to use the piece from Nightwish) perhaps because it was "Brintey Spears The Circus" pre-show opening act by some circus artists, probably presented by the organizers to warm the audience)
and since this show has a bit oriental motives and reminds a bit about Alladin or Sindbad, Fantasmic with its Disney tales themes suits here a lot )))
but all in all, I think the whole scandinavian audience will be very excited to hear Nightwish at Britney's show )) at least the finnish one, if she use the same circus artists here too _)))
Have fun!
Hugs,
Lerren
Well said Anette! I just think that Britney didn't actually CHOOSE FantasMic as the intro for her tour, I think that was her management and the art/musical director for the tour. Britney was just supposed to approve what she was served. If someone close to Britney reads this, please correct me if I'm wrong.
ReplyDeletePS. I just hope this was all done in respect with the song/s copyrights which belong to Tuomas/Nightwish's record label...
I'm just very very surprised and seeing this is just priceless. :DD
ReplyDeleteAlmost fell off my chair when I heard that.
as long as she pays Tuomas for using it, I think it's okay. Tuomas said he liked some Britney Spears songs himself, anyhow.
ReplyDeleteon the other hand, Anette you can't expect everybody to have eclectic preferences. so many people only like one metal genre (doom, gothic, black), or only pop, or hip hop, and so on.
I for one listen to VERY MANY different artists, but it's just me, people are different.
the moment they attempt to criticize you for your variety in preferences, however, you should kick their ass.
love,
Lucia
P.S can't wait to see you at the Artmania festival this Saturday!
I keep telling people that! =D
ReplyDeleteIf anything, Nightwish is getting more publicity, if anyone who's not a nightwish fan realizes it, of course XD
As long as they're not stealing the song i think it's fine =D
and amusing!
***deutschesm , LUCIA, you are very mature and smart!!!
ReplyDeletei agree we should respect people mood :)
Hi Anette!
ReplyDeleteThis Britney-thing is very good for Nightwish, but I don't think that Britney was the one who have chosen Fantasmic to open her concerts with. It is really hard to imagine that Britney is a fan of Nightwish, but who knows? :D (It would be great if it was true, though. :D)
Well, this is something completely unexpected :P. I guess if someone at the concert decides they like the intro and we gain another couple of Nightwish fans, I'm not complaining.
ReplyDeleteThis is good! In this way maybe Britney fans can discover Nightwish or metal music...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Angela.. I didn't think Britney liked Nightwish..
Hello Anette,
ReplyDeleteI experients that a lot of people
are narrow-minded :-( All of my classmates think that listening to rock and jump is weard.. So they think I'm weard, I was quit down when they said that. I just can't understand what the problem is.. Why can't you listen to different styles? The most important thing is to enjoy the sounds and lyrics. Maybe learning something from it...
I think it's fantastic that Britney used a Nightwish song :D I watch it, and for me it goes great together! Wish i've could seen her live..Who I aslo wanne see live is Lady Gaga... I like her songs :D
It's commerciel but so fun to dance and sing!
What do you think of Lady Gaga?
Hugs XxxX
Ann
There are different musical tastes, some like Pop, others like Metal. Is only needed these people live in harmony. An example, I do not like pop, but I will not criticize the work of people singing in this style. You're Absolutely right Anette. Have a nice day, Greetings from Brazil.
ReplyDeleteHi Anette!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you!
I don't understand how people can see the sample as a negative thing. It's a chance to Nightwish be heard for diferent people all around the world. Places where the band never went before.
If Britney use Fantasmic in her shows, and it sounds good to her fans so what's the problem?
I love Nightwish and I can say that I like Britney too. It's a diferent kind of music, but don't means that it couldn't be good or fun.
Kisses from Brazil
Love
I think that is a wonderful compliment to Tuomas, that other musicians want to sing his music. The fact that Brittney knows of Nightwish totally blows me away, I must say. But that's pretty wonderful if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteThat's like a revolution, pop and metal together *-* that's good!
ReplyDeleteyou are right, if nightwish sold this song to britney, this is the NW decition i really dont care
ReplyDeleteCan you please give us the link for that intro? I cant find it myself on youtube :S
ReplyDeleteTack på förhand (:
I think is absolutely amazing. I've loved Britney since I was 3 years old and I haven't stopped until now. It's amazing for her to use one of Nightwish's songs, because is another example how music can trascend every obstacle and that people shouldn't fight above these stuff (Wich I personally think is stupid)
ReplyDeleteIs wonderful that she used one of your songs, Next we'll see Madonna using Wishmaster as a big entrance or Christina Aguilera singing Cadence of Her Last Breath xD
o_O I didn't even know she did. I'm going to have to check-out YouTube to find a video.
ReplyDeleteI am curious about what other sort of music you like :D. Are you open to us introducing you to some new music? I'm not sure how to do that though, other than posting YouTube video links and I'm not sure if you'd see them, unless of course you get to read my comments ^_^;
<3 Lauren
I think it's great!
ReplyDeleteI love Britney , so a combination is really cool!
hope things get sorted with your neighbours
Amy Uk
Hey Anette, I understand what you're saying about the whole music thing, and Britney using that song, but I think she should have given Nightwish more credit. It's a wonderful song and Nightwish should have been given the credit and kudos for it.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it was probably her managers and the people "behind the scenes" who chose to use the song and to not give credit, however I would of hoped Britney would want to give the original artist credit.
But anyway, great to hear you opinion. :)
I'm in schock!
ReplyDeleteI grew up listening the music of Britney Spears and I love her!!!
I remember when I was a little girl and I was singing Lucky, Hit me baby one more time, Oops! I did it again and various others everyday, all the day.
It schocked me when I readed that she's using Fantasmic for her intros.
It's incredible.
I saw so many videos and I think it's ok.
I'm agree with u.
I mean it's great when you can see your old idol using the music of your favorite band.
And I think if this doesn't bother Tuomas, What's the problem? :)
Haha :P I didn't expect something like Fantasmic in one of her shows, but it's pretty cool ^^
ReplyDeleteAnd her intro is sure spectaculary!
xx,
Nouky
I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteand besides, Nightwish itself is not even 100% metal, its more of a combination of symphonies and orchestras mixed with metal, which i think its beautiful, its totally unique and i think its an honor that other people want to use Nightwish's music/intro's!
But still, very unexpected by someone like Britney, but i think its fantastic anyway ;p
Xx Lisaaa(IPASSSSEEEEDD!!!!!,finally rid of high school ;p)
By the way, have you seen the new Harry Potter films yet??? If so, what did you think of it?
ReplyDeleteLots of Love, Lisa (again i know;p)
Well, first off, I do not like Britney. But I think that people try to seem "alternative" and "individuals" to others by mocking a certain genre of music or a certain musician. This is definately not individuality. So I believe that we should stop criticising music genres and see music as a bigger thing. Without bounds. I mean..music genres is just a concept.
ReplyDeleteYou are totally right, Anette. I couldn't agree more. ;=)
Love,
Dimitris
well about song are you talking?? and i have to say i love britney and her songs and if she uses something from nightwish it must be even more better♥
ReplyDeletelove and kisses svea
To be honest,I wonder what says Tuomas about this thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm very surprised to see that she heard about Nightwish and I totally agree with you.
I have a question: will be this Saturday at ARTmania Festival(in Sibiu/Romania) the new
merchandise with you?
*hugs*
Wow... I'm stunned...
ReplyDeleteWhat WAS Tuomas' reaction? Now I'M curious.
I listen to different stuff, but I nnever would have thought that Britney would have chosen a metal band from another country to use samples from a song as an intro, that's reaally wild.
Hugs,
Falyssa
I remember when i went to her concert and i heard it at first i was like thats nightwish. But i had nothin against it being used in the show.I think the guy who spends the cube picked it or the coreographer did. I bet she doesn't know about nw. But like you said great publicity for NW. It doesn't matter if Britney is pop. Being able to have her use it is awesome cause she is hugely recognised all over the world.
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to her songs, but that's what I think, "it's just music". There are so many other things to people care about.
ReplyDeleteHowever, this is very unexpected =D
I love rock and metal music, they are my favorite kind of music, but I also listen to other bands. The Rasmus, The Magic Numbers and The Corrs, for example. And my friends mock me.
I don't like to stay within the limitations of just one kind of style.
Nowadays, people mixture kind of musics and styles, this is a reflection of a dynamic world. And I think this is good.
But, I'm curious too. What Tuomas thinks about?
Sorry once again for my English.
Greetings from a fan from Brazil.
Take care.
Fábio
I totally agree with you. I've read she pays the royalties for the song, so what's the real matter?
ReplyDeleteI guess some people just jump at her like that because they think that because her music is pop, it's going to devalue Nightwish "status", or something, which is completely stupid.
Besides, it's an irrelevant comparision but for example Nightwish has used "Resurrection" from The Passion of the Christ as an intro, and not for that all the catholics started a fuss about it, just because a metal band was using it... I mean, some people just need to grow up and understand that music goes beyond music genres... =)
hugs
I loooooooooooooooooove Britney =) so... i really dont care about this!
ReplyDeleteHugs
xx
Ioana S: No, my merchandise is only sold through my website;=)

ReplyDeleteHey Anette! =)
ReplyDeleteWell, I don´t think it´s a problem too. I like many different kinds of music, but just think about Nightwish playing a song of Britney in the concert... It would be strange.
I think, if she plays pop, she must play pop in her concerts. If not be in her own concerts, that´s ok! She can like, play or whatever but in a pop´s concert play a song of a metal band... it´s really strange!
*Imagine Anette dancing Toxic* =P
Kisses!
Ahhh...ok then.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the answer and see you Saturday!;)
Hi Anette,
ReplyDeleteYou are very broad-minded and I respect you for that :) However, like someone said already, it's not always 'just music'. Technically, all songs are notes and lyrics combined together, but in the essence it's more than that... You can't put together a song made out of inspiration and a computer-generated track and say they are the same because they both are 'just music'...
This has nothing to do with Britney, btw; although I don't like her music. Many artists use songs and music by other people in their live shows and it's just fine. I just found it a bit odd that you say that simply that it's 'just music' so anything should be immediately accepted as if it's the most natural thing in the world.
Friendly,
Angelica.
I honestly don't agree with that,
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know if Britney really enjoys this song or if it's a choice from her manager or something.
I don't think Nightwish needs this kind of promotion to prove they are talented because they already are!
I also remember when this French guy ruined "ever dream" with his rap version...
Some songs are so perfect they do not deserve to be changed, that's what I think about many Nightwish's songs and that's why it's hard for me to listen old Nightwish's songs with another voice...
I respect you Anette for being so open-minded and accepting. However, I feel it's unfortunate that it had to be Britney Spears using this song. It's not because she is pop, but really for her lack of talent. I'm sorry to offend any Spears fans, but her image and music put me off completely. I don't even know why she is famous. I'm sorry to sound negative, but I wish it was a more talented musician using Nightwish's amazing song.
ReplyDeletesorry but i hate the idea.
ReplyDeleteMore than hate her music, i hate like she is, not is good example of life, and I dont like that the people that believe that she is a queen, wonderfull or whatever, hear this beautiful and power song, is amazing.
But is your opinion and for people like me, she(britney) dont leave to use this song.:B BYE
sorry for my bad english...
1:15--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwb15OyXKgY&feature=related
ReplyDeletepop isn`t music... at least not from a classical point of view. you can`t just go in glissando over a voice mix... I actually hate it! So metal is much better ^^
ReplyDeleteahahahaha! i didn't even know about it!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, Fantasmic it's a great song for an Intro, here in Chile, they used it as an intro in Festival de Viña,the most importa musical event in our summer!!
It's not a surprise that Britney's musical producers, choosed such an amazing song!! Britney it a showoman, her concerts are that SHOWS, and what an amazing start with FANTASMIC!!
I do like pop, classic and differents kinds of music...and as Anette says...it just music!
yes, it's great!
ReplyDeleteIt's really when someone say music has no boundaries.
I won't try to bash Britney Spears or the 'Pop'-genre as tastes are different from person to person but I have this to say (and since I don't know where I should post this otherwise I'll do it here):
ReplyDeleteMetal has always been a very exclusive genre, the fans liked music that the outside-world did not understand and found and still find comfort in the unity of their fellow metalheads. In my own environment there has been a very distinct difference between the fans of heavy metal and 'regular' music, so much that I can't help but notice the differences in maturity and understanding of both the art of music and life in general (and I'm fully aware this is not applicable for everyone, but still a majority).
Lately I've found myself surrounded by a different kind of fan, who stumbled upon metal because of more accessible songs that get airplay on television. Without exception have I been bothered by the lack of insight in the heart and soul of music, leading to screaming to a song like 'Amaranth' but failing to see the genius in a composition like 'The Poet And The Pendulum'.
I'd hate to be a heavy metal purist but I strongly believe that these situations will lead to a slow death for real metal written and played from the heart and will make room for a load of uninspired nonsense that is only made for commercial purposes.
The Britney Spears incident is, in my opinion, a perfect example of the average, narrow-minded 'music-fan' being exposed to real music and thus being exposed to something that might appear 'cool' and 'not regular music' but it'll come down to that given some time ...
TLTR; If you don't get metal, don't act like you do
ehh.. I don't think it's really good but I have nothing against it...
ReplyDeleteSometimes I listen to Britney's music.. But I agree with the opinion that brithey's music is commercial.. and Nightwish isn't something for such concert..
Another hand it's great that she chose Nightwish' sample for it.. and it's some compliment for Tuomas.. Because he write really great music
// Anette I love you!
Your opinion about music and mixing styles is very nice :) I guess it's true. Though.. if I ever went to Britney's concert and heard Fantasmic there.. I guess I wouldn't be too excited.. I would be like "She steals NW's music!" I know it's a nonsense, it's just the way I would feel it.
ReplyDeletei dont understand it either tbh, i always thought music was a form of self expression i always got picked on in school for the music i'm into and the way i dressed.
ReplyDeleteeveryone likes different things an i support that :)
