Its so late that I dont have time to read all your comments from the Vera post but I will tomorrow morning;=)
Just so you know: I do usually not care and notice people like that but to write that I am a whore etc, that is where my limit goes in MY blog. I could delete the comment and I will for sure with all those who may come but I also feel that there are two ways to act on these things and one is to put them out there for everyone to see and also tell them what you feel so they cant hide and the other is to just ignore them. I am a person who can take good and constructive critism but this was nothing like that. This was very rude and also a comment that included that I was to blame for things I havent done. Then I act and that feels much better for me than to just let it go;=)
Now to rest but tomorrow photos and stories from Romania where me and the boys were so welcomed and the fans I met everywhere incredibly nice;=) Thanks Sibiu, its been such an honour to visit you and be so warmly welcomed!

Dementiadaily: I checked now again that site and the thing is that in the site itself it spells it like you do (the right way) but if you look at the site heading in the window in your webreader there it says Edgar Allen Poe and that was where I read. v_kar: I think the Poe quote is about perspective: different people will see different things - what is self-confidence, and what is foolishness? "One man's trash is another man's treasure" as the adage goes - it's analogous to the Poe quote.

Incidentally, all bloggers have to set their own boundaries with their blogs. Lots of people don't think that should be so, but as a veteran blogger, trust me, it's best to have firm boundaries re. your comments than not. That way people can't bitch when they cross the line (well, they can, but you can delete them). I have pretty firm rules posted right in my comments form - it might be worthwhile for you to do something similar.
What ticks me off most, is anonymous wankers who leave shit comments like the one you received and then don't have a blog for you to go back and refer to. That's called cowardice or being a chicken shit - and I'm glad you won't tolerate it.

It doesn't matter what they're saying: Your critics would claim you're all sorts of negative things can't do what you do. You're an amazing singer and performer and people are just using the fact that you oh dare i say it, "replaced" someone else, as a reason to target you. That's the one thing about "Living in someone's shadow" as they call it. Some people don't give a crap, nor do they give other people chances. Personally, I don't think you live in any shadow. You've got your own light around you and every time someone throws some stupid name at you, just remember they don't hold a candle to you. You're Anette Olzon, The Female Vocalist of the band Nightwish, and if people don't like it, tough crap. Humans are immature, sadly so there's never going to be a total end to it. But in the end, you've got the people who don't think you're anything to laugh at, but who think you're an amazing person supporting you. Keep at it, and hang in there!

I think it's a little girl... Age 15-17, not older.
Little girls don't know what means 'whore'. They knew the only thing that it's very offensive word, so they repeat it very often. It's very bad, but I met people who told bullshit about me and my friends (we're moders of Nightwish's unnoficial fun-club, and we're your fans). I think, I should forget about that people (though they told bullshit not only about me, and about my parents... but what can I do? This is internet and people think they can do everything they want), coz it's bad for my nerves and heart. So, I think, you don't need to think about this stupid Vera anymore. It's just a kid. Stupid and bad-manneredю

ReplyDeleteI am a Romanian and I am Nightwish fan since 2002 (when I have seen the first time the Sleeping Sun video). I've seen both NW concerts in Bucharest, in 2004 and 2005. Of cours,e I couldn't miss your concert in Sibiu (I'm from Bucharest, but I had to come to artmania festival to see you).
The concert was great. NW is loved very much here and I think you could see that in Sibiu.
Anyway, I have to put here some words after the Sibiu concert.
First idea is about the volume of the microphones. The volume of all instruments was setup very loud, which is OK, of course. But the microphones were not loud at all, and you and Marco had to scream to be heard. That, of course, made the voices less pleasant. Which is an obvious effect.
the second idea is about choosing the songs. Almost all the songs Why don't you try to convince the guys to sing Meadows of heaven in concert ? You sing it beautifully and it is a very nice song to be played by you. The volume of the other instruments are not so loud, the song is smoother, and your voice would be much more appreciated.
From my point of view, your job to replace Tarja is very difficult, but it could be even harder if the guys won't help you to choose songs where you could sound even better than Tarja. Because on Meadows of Heaven people could see the difference.
I'm not sure if I made myself clear. Maybe from outside things could be seen better. The problem is that the guys have to choose songs where you sing better than Tarja. And they have to make your microphone louder ! And even to decrease a little the sound of their instruments !
Not to mention that I would like to see from them a small gesture of encouragement for you, like you do to them. But, sure, you are newer and it is hard for them to think to that. Sometimes the four of them seem to be some children ! :)

ReplyDeleteI was one of those that thought you should ignore that abusive post but it's your blog and i understand you feel better if confronting this sort of thing.
I find it amazing that after 2 years there are still people spouting this "you ruined the band" crap. You applied for a job that was vacant because Nightwish didn't want to work with Tarja and you had nothing to do with whatever was happening during their last tour.
On top of that the band are selling as well as ever and have made a load of new fans. Nobody can say that business wise it hasn't been a success and there are few complaints amongst those that have seen Nightwish on this tour or listened to DPP,
