Ok, I think its time for us all to feel good about ourselves and what can be better than to tell here what you´re best assets are? It can be that you just love your nose, your lips or hair. Or your good skills at organizing, cleaning, cooking, being a lojal friend...well, there are no limits;=)
So, lets start the positive, encouraging ourselves day;=)
I go first;
I love my little red nose, my eyes and my legs. I also love that I am en empathic person, I listen and care about others and I am a good friend. I also just love that I am a bit "crazy" impulsive person;=)

Hi Anette! I think I'm quite pretty and i love my ears, eyes and my tiny fingers. :) I also consider myself as a pretty good photographer (for an amateur) and a drawer/painter. :)

ReplyDeleteYou know, it is only relatively recently that I can even list good things about myself! At the ripe old age of 30 - isn't that shocking? I was bullied quite badly when I was younger, and even though I knew it was stupid, I would still hear those bullies' voices when I looked in the mirror. Sometimes, I still do! Isn't that stupid?
So, Anette, this is very big for me: I like my hourglass figure and my little webbed toes on my right foot. I like the variety in my personality - I am a rock chick (AC/DC 4ever!!), girlie (toenails painted pink), geeky (I love D&D and Blizzard video games), intellectual curiousity (I'm reading physical geography and doing a dissertation in polar remote sensing targets), spiritual, musical... I am able to form really close friendships with amazing people, some of whom fit in one of my above aspects, some who fit in many of them!
So there!
On other topics - love the jeans you wore today, and I do like the all-blonde hair. The black streaks were certainly rock chick cool, but the blonde just looks fresher and lighter.
And... I made your blueberry and coconut dessert again (in my recipe file as 'Stolen Olzon') but with raspberries instead, and it was gorgeous! You must give it a go, but I do suggest a bit of sugar in with the rasps as they can be a bit tart!

Sari, I think that Anette and Anna are totally right, you'll get over it, look yourself in the mirror and make a list of the things that you like about you, everything, from inside and outside, focus only in the positive, and ask your friends and family that they like about you, and write it on the list, and think about all the positive things that you own. Because you are a cute person! I bet you are!

ReplyDeleteYou raise a very good point here... It's always very easy to judge other people, but when it comes to ourselves it can be a hell of a lot difficult!
Honestly, on my side, I really don't find anything I like of myself, phisically. I don't really think I'm UGLY (even though there have been times people haven't missed a single opportunity to tell me I am!), but there isn't much I like either. Well, my eyes probably don't suck. I guess.
As far as my abilities go, I would say I'm a decent photographer (I LOVE taking portraits of people. Oh, by the way, you're very photogenic! :)) and I'm getting better at underwater hockey, but that's something people rarely notice :DDD
Of course the "psychological" side is the hardest to judge. I think I can be a "deep" person, maybe I have the ability to see things the way other people don't.
I'm quite good at understanding people, I guess... In fact, many times people have come to me asking my opinion on someone else's behaviour or that kind of stuff. I've always loved psychology and I guess sometimes it shows :)
On the "dark side", I have to say this makes me often feel different, and somehow not understood by other people. I'm not complaining - I'm quite good in taking care of myself :) - but I wish sometimes people would get closer not just because I'm the kind of guy you can ask advices too, but for other reasons as well.
Sometimes your best characteristics are the worst ones at the same time, ain't it weird?

ReplyDeleteHmm..well, speaking about the appearance I really like my grey-blue eyes and my cheeks. And wrists. And then I love my bf and my family - grandma, grandpa and my gog. Then I like myself being open-minded and creative, being a good friend and kindhearted person. I terribly like my passion for poor and abandoned animals, even though this will to help them all sometimes hurts a lot. I mean, there are periods when you realize you just can't do anything, and it distresses me.
Then again, I hope I'm a good grand-daughter. A positive person, having a good sense of humor. And I just love-love-love horror films and sci-fi %)) probable that's why I'm a bit freaky and crazy, but I like it )
And I feel incredibly blessed to be there, among the good and wonderful people, who now re-open themselves in their own eyes while writing what's good about them for one of the world's finest person there is ;)
These all are very different and unrelated things, but they make me a person I am and a person I like.

Throughout my school life I was labeled a fool (not in school matters because I had high grades, but in life in general), the girls would not hear of me, I felt fool(actually today is a little hard to get girlfriend, but will get better hehe), but never think about that. In the very near future you will see that these that were considered "cool" are in the life. Probably most of them will be fat, bald and without self-esteem, because they never had it. Remember what happens in school is not real life, what you do out here in the real world is what really important;-)

Well, about me, my self-confidence isn't very high, as my friends always say to me. I am shy person, who doesn't like herself very much, so I could better give you a list of my negatives:).
People say, I have nice eyes, and I think, I have nice shape of eyes and I like my eyelashes, they're so long and curved. Just like in advert:).
I like my sense of humor and the fact I can make my friends laugh. I think I am a good friend, good listener and I am here for my friends when they need me. At least I am trying to be:).
Sometimes I like my voice, I think it doesn't sound bad at all. But then I hear you or any other really good singer and it's like cold shower:). Like "Oh God, what am I thinking? These are really good, and I am just a screecher".
And, I can say, I like my hands. I have long fingers and very nice nails. Strong and long.
So, that's it:).
It was good idea from you, to make us think about our positives. I'll think about it for the rest of the evening, I think:-D
I have had a hard time this year dealing with my "30's crisis".
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I was very innocent, and one of the most important things for me was to be a good person. I had lots of "nevers"; meaning I thought could never do this and that and I was very righteous.
But I ended up making mistakes and losing my "innocense",and this was one of the things that made me sad.
But now I accept it as a part of a growth. So I like this about my self. Also I like it how I always try to give the benefit of a doubt and have compassion towards people, as long as they dont act extremely rude. And I really cherish the people who are dear and close to me. But I dont pretend to be this for other people.
The things I like about my looks are my eyes and my hair. =)

I had some problems in school too. I had some "false" friends for a short time and during that time I haven´t been nice to my other "uncool" friends. But after the "false" let me down I first stood there alone. But luckily my "old" friends took me back and this is how I learned a lot about frindship. I really have to thank those "false friends" for that because it made me much nicer ;)
OK what I like about me
I like that I can really laugh about stupid things that others say about me. Sometimes it is really funny. And I love my "bad and dark humor" ond that some people consider me as "not normal" cause for me normal=boring.
Furthermore I love that I quite often understad what people are feeling. I can quite easy "get into a person" and understand what they think. It´s also a "diplomatic-talent" that helps in dificult situations.

You know its kinda difficult for me, to see what i like about myself. there are always people arround telling the opposit of what im doing.
see, i tell everybody,everytime what i think. and if i do so there are people, even so called friends and parts of my family who bash at me for being honest.
The same comes with my uncontrolable sense for being a biig kid.
i do what i want when i want.
i remember when the idea came to me that i want to throw that heart shaped dude on stage just for you. to say thank you for everything (that was my motivation, but they my so called fellows didnt get it) i took it with me pinned the letter to it and then it started:
"What are you doing? are you going to throw that ugly thing on stage to anette?"

"God what a teenage kid are you? you are 23 years old you idiot and you wrote a letter with it, is that a love letter?"
NO, OF COURSE NOT, ITS JUST A THANK YOU!

When i started making music. my entire family laughed at me: ha look at him, hes trying to play bass!Boy you wont make it(the words of my uncle who cant play a single instrument)
tehy didnt reconize that i learned myself how to play bass, keyboard and guitar, (i play them now for 8 years) the same with singing or writing lyrics. i need to free my mind. but they only laugh at me.
this music and those lyrics represent my feelings.
I dont even want to show them a single ton eor word, cause they wouldnt understand me.
Thats it, if almost everyone bashes at you for nothing, you start to question: what did i do wrong? You start to believe taht you are completly bad.
Just my lovely Martina says that im a lovely person whos there and listens and helps.
she loves me as i am. she loves my honesty she loves my complete foolish funny side.
i wrote a entire poem for martina.
and she came to me, hugged me
and said the most wonderful words a human ever said to me.

I agree, we all need to find something about ourselves that we like I love my hair and my pale skin. In my opinion I have some gorgeous eyes as well. I will also do whatever it takes to help out my friends. They help me out financially all the time (I'm really poor right now)so if they need something, I'm there for them no questions asked. ReplyDeletePhysically, I love my brown hair, my lovely brown eyes (actually.. the hair and eyes are the same collor.. it's pretty funny). I love my lips and my hands. And I love being short! I'm 1.60 and I love it! Everybody makes a little fun of me because of this, but I don't care and I don't wear heels because I just love it! hehehe
I love my personality, people say I'm a bit explosive, but I just think I'm honest and I'm a true person. I say what's on my mind, but I mean it well. sometimes people lie to please others but I cannot do that. I say what I really think. I'm the best friend a person can have because I'm a good listener and I really love helping people solve their problems. I often offer to help everyone, including people I barely know because that's just in my.
I love the fact that I'm gay because since I came out, I'm so much happier. I used to be a very sad person, but since I met my girlfriend, my life changed and I'm lighter and stronger than ever. So.. I really love this about my self..

Love my sensibilty. To speak, to write, finally...In general. Listening to people and advise has always been something that haven't bothered to do, even though I have not always had something in return.
And other somethings. but this time I think I'm rediscovering a bit. Phase changes.
Assets? LOVE so much photography, drawing, digital art with image editors (but photoshop confuses my head lol). I know a little about each one. But I always try to improve this knowledge.

ReplyDeleteWell, my experience is that the "different guys" are usually the most interesting:). Who has the right to define what is good and normal? There are so many "normals" in the world, but when you take a closer look, behind that normal face, you'll find - nothing. You truly have something inside, and the fact you can't see it doesn't mean that other people can't. The mistake is not in you:).
We all here are strangers, I'm afraid:)
And, just look at Tuomas - he's not someone you would call "normal guy", and it's his "different" soul, which gives us so much beauty. All those people who really produce something beautiful are a bit strange:) Well let's see what kind of beauty will come from you:)

I have the ability to make people laugh, and people know that if they tell me their problems, I am always willing to help them. I like that I am logical and think of every aspect of solutions and ideas.

Ett bra inlägg verkligen :)Men det fick mig att tänka på dem som verkligen inte tycker om något hos sig själva. Jag förstår verkligen inte hur man kan tänka så. Det finns så många fina människor där ute, och för mig även om man inte har utseendet med sig, men är väldigt vacker inuti så försvinner utsidan, man tänker inte på det på något sätt.
ReplyDeleteOch de människor som är vackra men är riktigt "fula" på insidan, de blir bara vidriga i mina ögon.
Karisma och vänlighet gör otroligt mycket för utseendet.
Jag själv tänker så klart ibland på hur jag ser ut, och jag känner mig ibland obekväm när jag går in i ett rum med okända människor, och alla blickar faller på en. Eller om någon person tittar på en på stan. Då undrar man om man ser okej ut.
Men jag är nöjd med jag ser ut, och jag vet att jag knappast är ful. Jag tycker om mitt blonda hår, att jag är slank, och hur jag ser ut i övrigt. Jag är nöjd helt enkelt. Det finns saker som kunde varit annorlunda helt klart (större bröst), men äsch, det finns viktigare saker att tänka på.
Jag gillar min personlighet annars, att jag är snäll, och att jag är lite naiv på ett bra sätt (jag gillar att vara lite barnslig och skoja runt). Jag tycker om min sångröst och jag tycker att jag är en fin människa.
Fler borde tycka så. :/

ReplyDeleteHmmm... det här var en svår fråga. Jag har svårt att se positiva saker i mig själv. Speciellt på senaste tiden. Ibland vill jag inte se mig själv i spegeln och andra dagar vill jag inte ens gå upp ur sängen.
Min bästa egenskap är nog att jag är en sån person som gärna lyssnar på andra om dom har något att prata om. Jag pratar inte så mycket, så då har jag blivit en bra lyssnare istället:)
Jag är också stolt för att jag alltid försöker vara mig själv och det tycker jag är viktigt. Jag menar, ingen som jag känner lyssnar på t.ex. Nightwish eller någon annan metal eller klär sig annorlunda. Så när jag tar på mig min Nightwish tröja på morgonen innan jag går till skolan så känner jag mig stolt över att jag är den jag är och ingen ska behöva ta det ifrån mig.
En annan sak som gör mig stolt är mina dikter. Jag vet inte om dom är så bra, men jag blir glad när jag skriver dom och det är allt som betyder något för mig.

I'm also different--a nonconformist, someone who doesn't care (now) if people give me odd stares or call me weird. In fact, I'm glad I AM weird. ^_^

I'll explain.. For too long I was someone else, who people wanted me to be... When I was 15 my clothing style was crazy :) But I loved it, I had purple hair, red hair.. But then school was over and you need to find a job... I've a job where you need to be "normal" you know what I mean?
Even in my freetime people expected from me to wear other clothes..and do other things.. and for some reason I did that.. but I was feeling bad, really bad..
I'm so sick of that, so yesterday I bought two nice dresses, one with a skull on it.. I just love it, with a purple legging and a nice black necklace and black bracelet.. My boyfriend's reaction was: What? Do you like that? And I did some red stripes in my hair ( I've dark blond hair) And all I said was: Welcome back old Danielle :)
I was so tired of being someone that I was not.. now I'm feeling to be myself again.. I even listen not to "my" music anymore.. I only listened to Nightwish because I couldn't let that go, but now I'm listening to Sonata Arctica and Amorphis and that kind of stuff again :)
It's good to be back, and tomorrow I'm going to my work after a break for 2 weeks.. so I wonder how they will react on my hair and my earrings ;)
So that's what I'm proud of.. that I found myself again ;)

Hmm, it's not an easy thing to do, because most of the time I have a bad image of myself. However I like my eyes (even though I have to wear glasses because I'm short-sighted), my ability of being able to get completely crazy with friends (which leads to great moments), but there is one more thing..

I also asked my flatmate what he think, and he said that he love that I am not so "girlie" but rather independant and freethinking and that I have a really good memory. So, now I have to think about if thats good or not???

To everyone of you who've been bullied in school.
ReplyDeleteI was bullied in school my whole childhood, I was bunched and some guys called me names every single day. They said I'm ugly and etc, even I hadn't done anything to anyone. My self-confidence fell down, and I became shy and quiet, I only had one friend to be with me, untill one day she started to insult me too with the guys. Later she came to say to me that she's sorry, and did that because she didn't want to became bullied too. I couldn't believe my ears, true freinds don't do that kind of things.
Later, after the middle school, I went to a new school to anyther city and got new friends, and started a new life. Now I'm happy again with my new friends who really are my friends, and I'm proud of what I am and how I look, and no-one can put me down. Being bullied strengthened my self-convidence for the future, and I know now that the bullys were only teens and stupid, and there never was nothing wrong in me.
We all have a right to be what we want, and we should not let people control us to be something we are not.
Take care everyone, and never abandon your friends the time of need.

Anna & Sari: I feel for you! I was bullied too in school, constantly told how ugly and boring geek I am, yadda yadda yadda... Took me years to get over it but it can happen, it only takes time and "exercises" like this are just brilliant to "find" yourself and appreciate yourself. And Anette -- you forgot to add something I, were I in your shoes, would be exceptionally proud of: you've survived and done brilliantly well as the singer and the frontwoman of NW for two years already, survived that one hell of a tour, and brought back (at least in my eyes) something of the "old" spirit of the band! And your singing just gets better all the time ;) *hugs* And, your new hair looks wonderful -- such a pure, bright blonde! :)
ReplyDeleteHeheh... listing publicly what we find positive about ourselves must be exceptionally hard for us Finns :p Isn't crappy self-esteem and constant belittling of ourselves, no matter what others say to us something like our national cancer... Even if we secretly think that "hmnn... ok, I _am_, actually, a pretty good-looking person, opposite sex seems to like me, I've accomplished something pretty nice in my life", we go "feh, I'm ugly, I'm stupid, a bad person, nah, my accomplishments are really nothing, I'm just this-and-that" and blah blah blah.... :p Just like talking too much about yourself is easily considered something like narcism here ;)
Well, that was just a silly generalization ;) I like the fact I've survived some living hells in my life, serious illness, horrendously stressful relationship, etc etc... And, quite much on my own. Lived on my own since I was 18, worked since I was 15, at the moment finishing my D.Sc, managed to get some respect and authority as a young woman on an extremely male-dominated field... Looks-wise -- hmnn... I guess I've finally come to terms with my looks too. Not that "cute, girly, giggly" type (the type most men seem to find attractive, unfortunately :p) but if "charismatic" counts as a positive comment from the opposite sex, not horrendously bad to the eyes either :p But, I know how hard it is to forget those old ghosts from school times -- no matter what people tell me about my looks, no matter if someone finds me "sexy" or even "beautiful", I still see an ugly pig when I look at the mirror in the morning. Good thing is that I'm honestly way past caring already ;)
I consider myself a warm, open, friendly, empathic person too -- trying to be the "shoulder" for my friends whenever they need that :) Easier to find that proverbial needle from the haystack than true, proper _friends_ so every single one of them is worth a life :)
This is such a wonderful idea, Anette! I agree with you on the point that we sometimes don't feel so good about ourselves, we feel we're not-so-special at all or we don't even bother to discover our qualities and good parts so that we can reveal them to the world. We also need some self-esteem boost now and then, and this blog idea of yours is perfect for that!
ReplyDeleteHmm, modesty left aside now, I like the fact I'm pretty chameleonic with people, I can get along with very different types of personalities and I love and cherish each of them, I like the fact I'm a Pisces, I'm glad I managed to get Leo Delibes' "Les Filles de Cadix" pretty okay-ish lately, I like my body and the fact I can eat as much as I like without gaining weight at all, which probably means I have a nice metabolism, and I also like that I manage to do my make-up pretty well even if it's 6 o'clock in the morning. /end of rant. :D
Thank you again for being so inspirational, Anette! You truly have some really enlightening things to share and I think you're managing to bring the best out of us. (I find your nose adorable too! :D )

I love my eyes. They're almost the only thing I can say I am proud of.. My eyelashes are really thick, and I'm so happy I got these eyes, my mom says they're just like my grnadmothers. I miss her a lot, she died when I was almost two years, so I'm proud of them

@ Karoliina: I was OK with 30 - I had a big party and got a tattoo! 35 was much more difficult for me and over my birthday last summer, I was having a pretty hard time with it. VERY LONG STORY. But, I'm much better with it now, and I realize that at this age I have a lot of wisdom and I am grateful for it!!

ReplyDeleteIt is really a good idea of you to ask us this question as I read some very nice words from people about themselves. :-)
As for myself, it is quite hard for me to name anything good about myself, because when it comes to appearance there is nothing that I really like and worthy to name and when it comes to my character some things are good for people around me, but not always for myself too. Like I always help everyone out with anything they ask my help for, but helping them with their work means I have to leave mine for what it is. Afterwards my stress level raises due to deadlines etc. and eventually causes my body to ache, like it does right at this moment. I consider myself an honest person, but is that still a good thing nowadays? Those who lie a lot are valued most or at least it really looks like that. Also, I always seem to stand up for other people, even though they can stand up for themselves very well. When someone I like is being treated badly or anything else the person does not like, I tend to open up my mouth and help someone out, while in the end I am the one getting into for me unnecessary trouble, while the person I am helping wisely remains quiet. Almost everyone around me sees me as an "extreme" perfectionist and partly that is a good thing, because they are usually satiesfied with the work I deliver. Though, I hardly ever am and that is the downside for myself.
In case most of what I have just written sounds negative, I am sorry. It is too difficult to describe my complex being in so little words. ;-)
A positive thing: I laugh (and talk) A LOT! Usually having the giggles makes me cry from laughing and having stomache ache. :-P
Anyway, I really have to get back to my schoolwork as I have plenty of things to finish for tomorrow, including preparing myself for another exam.

I love your idea,it's like a game we are playing... but I must say that I couldn't tell something like this to a person face to face!
I feel so embarrassed when I have to say something about what I like about myself or things I'm good at!!!
So......I like about myself that:
I have got natural blond hair and blue eyes.
I look younger than I am ......people say that I am 13 maybe 14 and actually I am 18!
I speak german since I am 3 years old, although it's not my mother tongue, but it's my favourite language and I love to write all sorts of things in german.
I am patient, calm and if I like something or someone then I stick to my decision! I almost never change my mind.
I care and I give my best for the people who are important for me.

- I love my brown eyes and natural red hair
- I am proud of myself to have managed to controll my personality disorder
- I achieved so much at university though noone believed I could do it, I am quite proud of that
- I like about myself my discipline when it comes to selfteaching languages (worked with Finnish and Norwegian so far)
- I love my tattoos since they're all my own design and have a meaning.
- I guess there are many little things about me I cannot recall now but I know, I would be myself if I'd lack those and they make me the person I am. I also like these little things about me...
Mhh, feels good to write positive stuff about yourself, it's nearly as pleasing as giving someone else a compliment.

ReplyDeleteI love my eyes, my hair (most of the time...) and my straight nose. The rest of my body I'm not that comfortable with all of the time, but I'm working on it.
I like that I'm very musical: that I can play the piano, a little bit guitar, drums, and that I have a good singing voice that can reach high notes. I like my sense of rhythm that enables me to dance well, and that I'm among the best dancers in my team.
I like doing well in school, that I've always been among the best students, that I can read very fast and I have a good all-round education. I also like my ability to listen to other people when they want to talk about something.
Wow, now I actually got a better mood :)

Dear Anette, thank You for bringing it up :) I think one of the hardest things in the world is to talk about Yourself. I'm a very insecure person and keep fighting with a low self-esteem, since I was a child I been hearing hurtful things from some of my very close ones but well.. you don't choose a family you're born in right? Anyway..

I think I have a nice smile. Some people told me I smile nicely so I think that would be my nicest physical feature and perhaps my eyes too. I think my eyes are quite nice.
As for my personality, I've always considered it to be more important than looks, even though a lot of people don't think so. I consider myself an intelligent person, smart and really opened to other people. I'm a good friend and a listener. I believe I'm quite dedicated and trustworthy. I also have a good sense of humor, yes I do have that actually hehe

Ok good to hear Im not the only one =)
Its not the closing number 30/getting old that makes me feel distressed, I guess its all the expectations that Ive had when I was younger, the things I should have acheaved by now..
Also this age has made me think about my life in general,to go through things I never cared to think about. But now that Im getting over this stage I truly feel a lot wiser. I can look at life with such different eyes..
Im not so judgemental as I was before, when you make mistakes your self you learn to understand other peoples behaviour. And be more compassionate.
Children and teenagres are such haters of anything different, just because they cant look at things form another angle.
Its great that you can still grow up, even at this age,and even all through your life.
I am proud to say that Im an adult with still some childhood innocence in my heart =)

@ Karoliina: I had a lot of expectations, too, and NONE of them have come to pass. It wasn't for lack of trying or goal setting or focus or anything like that, but rather that my life has taken some unexpected turns that have made my path very different than the one I'd originally started out on. The big growth for me has been accepting that this is what it is, and I can either hide under a rock, or I can push forward. I have almost shed a skin, the way a snake does. And it's been quite a wondrous experience, though by no means easy and happy at all times. I now have more hope than I did in my 20s, and I am much more focused. As I said in a previous comment, I know my limitations and am comfortable working within them.
ReplyDeleteBecause of my experiences, I am much more compassionate than I was in my 20s, and I think I'm much more able to put myself in another's shoes and see different situations from many angles. I don't make assumptions the way I did when I was younger, which was also a huge growth experience.
We are constantly growing - and so we should be! That's what life is about. To use a cliche, this is a journey not a destination. I think that's true of maturity as well.

especially today i'm not able to like or even love myself (i'm sick and i lost some weight).
but on the other days i like my curves, my neck and my face - i can't hide emotions.
i like that i'm loving, caring, creative, enthusiastic, philosophical, childish and a giant blabbermouth.
sometimes i'm like a volcano, when people are unfair against others.(sometimes this gives me a hard time, but who cares?)
your blog and your new ideas! they are great! and your new hair colour is amazing!
I am a strong person, a loyal person and a determined person. I like that I won't give up, even when others think I should. I like my tenacity, my resilience and my ability to give everyone a chance. I like my independence and am happy that I have good self esteem and am well balanced. I have a good, kind heart and am a very good friend. I am also very proud of my unique style, my rebellious views on trends and the fact that I am always true to myself, no matter what. :)

Some people think it's impossible to talk about their loved things.
I kinda learned how to see the positive side of the life/things/people.
Sooo:
I like my eyes (green), my soul / heart. I think it's big and there's always some love for those people who nice with me. I always try to see the good things in others.
I'm a good, reliablbe friend.
And I love animals to death :)
I love my voice but there's something that I cannot deal with:
Once I started classical sing, first time my teacher was really nice and helpful then she became careless. She cancelled my lessons and never helped me anymore.
She said I have nice voice, but then another girls came... She was rich and famous in her school. She could affor to buy nice presents to my teacher. I was a simple girl, never felt like I should buy anything to my teacher just to get more lessons.
And after a short time I realized why my teacher is careless... I couln't buy her anything, so she didn't care about my voice anymore. I practiced at home without teacher, my voice started to 'open up', but time went on and I stopped practicing. My work was hard and I didn't have time to go to another teacher. Since 'that case' with the teacher I cannot sing like before :( I don't know if I should start singing again? I'm 25 and she told me that a woman can shape her voice until she becomes 30. So I'm sad about it because I know my voice is good, but it feels like I'm not courage enough to sing from my whole heart anymore. As I start to sing something blocks my voice, something like nerve...
I don't know if you understand my problem, but I guess you kinda know how it feels ;)

Wow Anette, I never noticed you have a red nose (of course because you wear make-up on most pics or because you manage to choose the light very well). I have a red nose too, but I hate it on me. It makes me want to force to put on make-up and concealer and all that jazz even on Sundays. But anyway, what do I like about me?
ReplyDelete- my rich fantasy: I never am me, I always feel like I'm one of my alter egos I created and I like them a lot and all together they are me or I am them
- my voice that can sing like many different singers
- it may sound weird but I like my wrists a lot, I think they're nicely shaped and perfectly link my underarms to my hands
- I like the shine my hair has (hate the model though, but I have no idea what I want to do with it!)
- And most important: I like my life as it is at the moment: I like the studies I'm doing, I like the band I'm in, I like my singing teachers etc.
I think as long as you feel in the right place in your life, you feel good about yourself and it'll make it easier to live with your not so good points.

Hmm, I think the fact that I am not afraid to show who I am and what I stand for.
I am supertolerant and can be friends with all kinds of people, wether they're gay (a good friend of mine is lesbian), foreign, gothic or any other 'minority' ( as myself).
Im a good listener and always want to help people, sometimes in cost of myself.
Another thing which is both a curse and a blessing is my huge justice-feeling, I cannot stand it when things happen that are just wrong or unfair.
On the outside I like my eyecolor(dark brown) and my style ;p.
It took me a long time to get comfortable with myself because I was always herassed in school and trying to fit in desperately.
Now I have accepted myself the way I am, and found out that people can have respect for that, and they do want to get to know you.
For this I thank my mother, for showing me it's never wrong to be who you want to be.
Also thanks to that, I finally gave in to my repressed urges to listen to metal music, and I discovered Nightwish.
