Oh, I dont know how many times I have woken up this night with songs in the head...;=) I must say its an amazing thing to write music. Its like when you start to create, the whole body gets involved in the process and its very hard to turn it off. I now understand the song-writers who do this for a living all the time. They are amazing;=)
Soon coffee and then off to the studio again. For you, the great theme song from True Blood, Jace Everett with Bad things. I love love love it;=)

I can imagine that creativity knows no boarders if one can do one's own music. That is such an inspiring thing to do. But I also find it quite difficult. So I think you're very couragous to do this and I wish you good luck with that album!!!
I also went to bed and woke up with the music I have to write the lyrics for. But even that I found some of them yesterdeay I am definitely not satisfied with the result...-So let's go on working on our projects ;)

Heheh... isn't it amazing how creativity works? :) It all stems from some deep subconscious of yours -- I've noticed the same (waking up in the middle of the night, the mind seemingly working with the subject even if you're not actively thinking of it) when I've been working with some writing projects, or paintings, or even with some scientific stuff (guess that's a form of creativity too, trying to find answers to scientific problems, even if it's not typically considered "creativity" as such...)...
ReplyDeleteCan be annoying at times but the feeling when you realize that yeah, THIS is it, THIS is the vision I want to create, THESE are the exact words I need to say this thing with, THIS is the missing link in this scientific theory... when everything "clicks" together it feels better than anything! ;)
You sound so happy and full of energy -- this songmaking process must've done loads of good to you! :) Good luck for the rest of the time there and can't wait to hear the results, when the album comes out! :)

I remember when on a Fan Club tour with Iron Maiden, talking to Steve Lazarus (who ran the FC) that Steve Harris always sleeps with a dictaphone and notepad near by, as he often wakes up in the night with an idea for a melody line, or a lyric... and he needs to put it down, as he will have forgotten by the morning.

haha i know exactly how it feels waking up w/ music ideas in the head :] it happens so much at nighttime actually when im trying to get to sleep, then suddenly i have this melody coming out of nowhere and then i start harmonizing and then get chorus and lyric ideas... and then, after debating whether or not i should get up and write all this stuff down, i find myself waking up in the morning without a note or clue of the lost music from the previous night :p that really sucks, but i've been working on avoiding that!! :] and oh i wonder how it is to be in a studio *.* that is a dream i hope to someday fulfill
