In Sweden and maybe in some more countries? we have a tradition to eat pea soap and pancakes on thursdays. So now we are preparing for that and to the pancakes we serve raspberries/blueberries that are heated to a jam and whipped cream.

ReplyDeleteIn Italy we don't eat pancakes with peas. We eat peas with onion and bacon or sauce with tomato for pasta. Do you like italian food? If yes, which is you favourite? Do you eat pancakes for dinner? For dinner today my dad is cooking chicken breast steamed with red wine. Very good!! Have nice dinner and evening! Big hugs

Jep, it is a tradition in Finland too! I really love pea soup! When i was a little i loved thursdays because then we had soup and pancakes. ;-)

ReplyDeleteHere in Spain we dont have that tradition. But we have a common dish made with peas as well. You have to boil the peas with sausages, blood/black pudding or blood/black sausages (I dont know how it is said in English cause I've never seen them in England xD but I think that's OK) and also with beaf, pork or chiken. Some people make it with the three of them to give it more flavor. You can also add vegetables like carrots, potatoes, onion... although we dont normally eat them. Just to give it flavor as well.
That's typical Spanish!! ahah It's is a very heavy food but it's really nice. We call it "cocido" xDD

In Serbia, this dish is called "pasulj" and we don't have a specific day when we eat it, but this meal is most often served on celebrations and such events that involve many people invited. That's because pasulj tastes better when made in larger quantities. I had it yesterday, btw. :)

ReplyDeleteThis looks mouthwatering. :) I like this tradition. Here in Greece from as far as I know we don't have this kind of tradition. But Greek cuisine is really delicious. And when saying Greek cuisine I certainly do not mean things like souvlaki or things like that. It is much more interesting than that!

ReplyDeletehere in Hungary it's not a tradition, but we eat soup very often. Almost every day. A "normal" hungarian lunch is unimaginable without soup :)
Here in Brazil we do not have that tradition. What usually eat here is rice and beans with something else, may be meat, vegetables or anything else. A very traditional food here in Brazil is the "feijoada" which is black beans mixed with various meats, but I do not like much =)

Seems to me that many who has left their comments actually think that peasoup is eaten with pancakes. Pretty interesting combination if you ask me...
