Well, some days I do think it would be easier if my blog only were written in swedish. Sometimes my english explanations look to "nice" and if I was gonna write something in my mother tounge it would be easier...;=)

ReplyDeleteOf course, I see. It happens the same to me with my blog! There are some topics that are pretty difficult using the english language. It is not the same...For example, in italian language idioms are different.
And also I often am not sure that people get what I mean!
By the way, what do you mean by the word "nice" here?

You're really good, Anette. :) To me your English is perfect. I would love to read something in Swedish too, though I don't understand every word... Maybe you could have a "Swedish corner" on your blog, a side where you could sometimes write in your own language. :) With a short summary in English... or something. - God natt!! :)
ReplyDeleteHe he swedish is no easy to understand but there always is a google translator. For me also is easy to write in italian but with english i've there's no problem for you to undestand me. So, i'm very happy! :D

ReplyDeleteI think it would be easier to you write your blog in swedish, but if it happens, some people could not understand it ;(
Everybody who don't speak english as your mother language have some doubt sometimes, it's normal. Like me, when I will talk somethings with friends and even here, I always have the translator open ;/ And sometimes there is some error on the write or the words.
Well, You must to do what it's better for you ;)

Well, it would be a shame for us all :( I understand that Swedish people would like you to express yourself in your mother tongue, thus some comments of yours would be more natural. They'd get to know you a little more, in a way. But if you write in Swedish, so much people won't understand you AT ALL (like tens of thousands!!). I'd be sad ;)

It would be easier for you but many of us wouldn't be able to understand it! Being a native English speaker, your English is fantastic. I always understand what you write, you obviously have a very good grasp of the language! Not only that, the little grammatical 'errors' you make give your blog lots of character.
ReplyDeleteThings like where you say about Nemo getting more 'teeths' where 'teeth' is plural for more than one and 'tooth' is singular just for one so no 's' is needed.
These things make me smile because they make your writing unique, =). I hope this makes sense, I love reading your English; it's great!
There is something else I wanted to share with you: do you remember at the beginning of the year you asked us what our new years goals were? Well one of mine was to pass my driving test and get my full driving lisence, and I did it yesterday! I was very happy! I think it's important to share this because so many people make new years goals and forget about them, but some people do stick to them and I am so glad I did, =).

ReplyDeleteWe had very much laughing in school yesterday, when we did one side abstract in english from our essay. One of my friends had translated some project in english, I mean its name :D And you can imagine that it sounds stupid, when we translate some NAMES to other language. Name was "Paras-hanke" which is in Finland, and of course.. the best project xD I hope they changed that name back to finnish before it will go to teachers :D

Hey Anette, I think your English is very good! I'm glad you write in it because I can barely understand any Swedish! I tried to learn some a while ago because I was going to buy Moomintroll DVDs and couldn't find any in English (it's not too popular over here, I have no idea why!) but it turned out I couldn't get it at all so I had no other motivation to. English is actually my second language but I consider it my most fluent and my native tongue my less fluent since I moved out of the country when I was young. I understand your frustration but we understand you, don't worry!

ReplyDeleteI had wrote a story a year ago in English. It was a fanfiction and my readers liked it a lot! You can read it on the Internet if you want (ask me the link and I'll send you). So, I decided some days ago that I'll translate it to my original language, Hungarian. And OMG, it is so hard! English and Hungarian is so different. I feel like then I write in English (even if I make mistakes) it's easier. The Hungarian is a more senseful, more difficult language and I can play with so many expression to write about one feeling what English do only with two-three words. So, I'm sitting in front of the laptop and trying to express my English thoughts into Hungarian. Very hard work, but worth it. :)
So, I just wanted to say that trust me/us, if you feel like your English doesn't show us those emotions you wanna share with us, you wrong, I think. But of course you have the right to write in your language but that would be harder for us, but not hopeless.

Så klart det alltid är enklare att skriva på sitt modersmål men din engelska är riktigt bra. Och man lär sig alltid mer ju mer man övar.

Förstår hur du känner, det kan vara frustrerande ibland! Men tror samtidigt att många är glada att du är så pass bra på engelska så att du väljer att skriva på det språket, tror inte att folk hade uppskattat att läsa översättningar från google translate ;P

ReplyDeleteI must tell you that sometimes I have the same problem! I live in northern Italy in a town near the state line with Slovenia and I can speak two languages, of course Italian and Slovenian. Often I can't find the right words to describe some things. Italian and Slovenian are two completely different languages, so it is very hard to find translations of some words. But luckily I haven't many difficulty with these languages, cause I speak both well.

Jag är häst-tjej och märker av samma problem när jag ska skriva på det engelska häst-forumet jag är aktiv. Ibland vill man uttrycka sig på ett visst sätt om en sak, men får inte fram rätt ord och meningar. Då känns engelska bara klumpigt.
ReplyDeleteI övrigt är ju svenska och engelska språk som jag använder dagligen och jag reagerar knappt ens längre på om det står på svenska eller engelska.
Många svenskar är ju så invanda nu med engelska att man framförallt förstår, även om man kanske inte kan prata.
Jag tycker det är bra att du skriver på engelska, så att alla dina fans runt om i världen kan läsa. För ska vi vara ärliga är ju google translate inte speciellt bra alla gånger, ibland förstår man knappt ens vad de översatt.

Honestly I thought you wrote your blog in Swedish originally, and it was just translated to English, because your website homepage says "English or Swedish" and I assumed the blog was in Swedish originally. (Does that make sense?) Anyways, your English is very good, so please stick with that and don't switch your blog over to Swedish. D:

I guess on this way would be betten for you, instead of writing in two languages at the same time, that would takes much mores time an energy, because you not allways will have the time to do that.
