Sitting here thinking about L.A - the city of angels;=)
The first time I was there was when we were flying there to record Amaranth and Bye Bye Beautiful with director Antti Jokinen.
It was 10 wonderful days over there and I have so many memories and there will always be something special with LA after that and I really am so excited and happy that we are gonna start our next tour over there!
When we arrived to LA almost none of us got our luggage. Panic!!
It was so weird how they could loose so many peoples luggage, but sure they did. We got some dollars to compensate but for me and Marco, who had to wait for almost a week for our luggage, that wasnt enough. No underwear, no clothes, no make-up...you name it. I had to go and buy Tinkerbell underwear at Disneyland to have some clean ones and I felt like I was 10 again;=)
Well, later on I went to Melrose avenue and got some new clothes so luckily, it worked out. I found clothes for the videos to wear too;=)
Bought all the clothes I had on in both videos except the shoes at Melrose and I still love them!
We lived at the cosiest hotel I have stayed at and I hope I´ll get to stay there again - Grafton hotel on Sunset Boulevard. The rooms are just so cosy and the atmosphere in the hotel is something special. The beautiful black and white photos above the bed, the soft and cosy bed, all the candy they had placed in the room (I ate so much chocolate they had to refill it all the time;=).
And to just walk outside and jump in the pool anytime and then end it all with a nice drink by the pool....Nice!
It was also the perfect spot cause we were near House of Blues, Roxy and all the nice bars and restaurants that lies there.
We went to different places in the evenings and one night we watched Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil and it was really good. I said hello to Sharon afterwards and that was our first meeting.
I long to go to L.A. again and next time, I´ll see to it that I can get a tattoo there. Maybe an angel since it is the city of angels;=) I´ll contact Kat von D and see if she has time for me.

What a fun post! Looks like a lot of good memories. I had no idea most of you had lost all of your luggage for that trip. I'd be in a panic too, even more so if it was anything I made or was for a special event!

ReplyDeletei've never been in L A but i think that it's a beautiful town. How many hours difference are there between L A and Sweden? How long time did you took to resume from the time zone? What? Oh my God... one week without our luggage? How did you do without? I suppose that it was terrible. When i have been in Florida i had to wait one day for my luggage but one week is to much.
Amaranth is my favourite song (that i have known new nightwish) and i love the video.
About chocholate i love three of those that you have posted: twix, mars and bounty.
Which is your favourite?

I went to Disneyworld in Los Angeles with my family about 6 years ago. I was 15 and felt that I was a bit too grown up for it, so it was just fun for my sisters and parents.
ReplyDeleteMy mum is a bit absent minded. At the Disneyworld turnstiles she forgot to retrieve her ticket when she entered, which was a week's pass or something, and so we had to sit in the complaints office for about an hour until they told us we had to buy another one :\
You should go see the cliffs at Palos Verdes when you go. I live just next to it and it's a great place to drive or get out and walk on the rocky shoreline. :)

Im sooo happy that you are going to start the Tour in LA,but im really praying for you to come to Portugal,i've been waiting(and im still waiting) for that day since i was like 6 years old LOL :)

ReplyDeleteSounds like your experience with L.A. was pretty awesome (except the luggage thing). The only place in California I've been to is San Francisco, but I think it would be really cool to go to L.A. :)
For a while I've been thinking about how I want to go there someday to get a tattoo done by Kat Von D. I watch her show "LA Ink" a lot, and she is a REALLY amazing tattoo artist. I will be so jealous of you if you get a tattoo done by her! ;) Do you know where you would get it done? (Your arm, wrist etc..) Just curious.
I wish more than anything that I could see the Nightwish show in L.A. ;( Unfortunately I live in Texas, so hopefully you guys will
come here at some point. ;)

ReplyDeleteReally amazing story^^ I know what its like when you dont have your luggage. My sister and I didnt had our luggage when we went a few days to Stockholm. They had put our luggage in the airplane that would come at night. Luckily we had our luggage the next morning.
I would be very jealous if you will get a tattoo of Kat von D haha, she is so amazing! and a great tattoo artist!

ReplyDeleteI wish there would be chance to be in the first gig next year, but I don't even dream about it neither I don't dream that I will see LA in one day.. So LA have to come Finland.. That might be more difficult, but would love to see those rock clubs etc.

ReplyDeleteA week ago I returned home from my very first trip to America. Me and my husband travelled two weeks in California and Nevada. We spend most of our time in Los Angeles. It took a couple of days to realize that I kinda miss Hollywood's trashy, romantic rockglamour...
I also wanted to get a tattoo from Kat. I send my request in July 2010, but I still haven't got an answer. It was really dissappointing, since I am a student and don't have money to travel to LA every now and then. Oh well, we still had a blast visiting High Voltage Tattoo and Kat's art gallery Wonderland.
I am not sure if it is a different situation for famous people like you, but usually Kat checks the requests on first come first serve basis, so I warmly suggest that you post yours soon as possible. Good luck with that!
I hope I'll meet Katherine in person one day - and you too! You are both artistic women who I admire very much.

Tattoos :)) I sometimes think about tattoos. Maybe I will get it for few years. But, whether I get it or not? :/ I don't know because my skin is quite sensitive. Did you ever have some infections or something similar with your tattoos?
