I *love* this song. I couldn't wait until it was released and having been a fan of WT and also a lot of non-metal music for years, this song was definetly a highlight of my music last year! Sharon is absolutely incredible.

I remember when I heard the song on TV but didn't look at the screen and I thought it's really cool but the voice sounded so familar so I came out of the kitchen to see who is is and I was surprised! It was Sharon but I thought it's really awesome that she get involved in non-metal projects. Why wouldn't she? The song is like a drug and Armin is always awesome.

ReplyDeleteand YES, Sharon sounds just like I can imagine an angel would sound like. Within Temptation is like my number two favourite band after Nightwish:)she's very talented, and I heard that she was never trained either, so she's really good and I've never hard anyone sing like her before, which makes her special:) thumbs up!

I also support Sharon's project strongly. I really think people should get their head out of metal music only and listen to other great stuff out there as well. Sharon had the bravery to show she can sound good also out of her "comfort area" and I think this is what every singer should do. Just like you sang both Michael Bormann's soft and heartfelt song and heavier Nightwish songs like Slaying the Dreamer and Romanticide, just like Floor Jansen sings both in a rocky and operatic style, this is exactly what Sharon did too. And I'm glad there are still singers like you girls who show to the world that the voice is an extremely complex instrument who doesn't necessarily fit one genre and one style only.

something funny: I saw a video of this song live, and it couldn't have been weirder because the song itself is soft-ish, but sharon's voice is so powerful that it just didn't fit. she nearly had to whisper the lyrics XD

I was never into this style of music, not my thing really but last year when I heard Sharon singing this song on TV ... I was stunned! Yes, she sounds like an angel, as usual and the song is so cool =).

Sharon Del Adel is one of the most talented female rock-metal vocalists ever. I love her voice, but I think the WT a bit lighter than the Nightwish, so I prefer the Nightwish , and your voice :)
My second favourite female metal singer (my first favourite are you :)) is Floor Jansen, who did you make a picture with :) You are the best singers ever. It's a pity that her band broke up, because they made fantastic music :(:(:(

HAHA, just kidding. ;-) I just really think that one of your older blog entries in which you write about asking a waitress in what country you are, is really funny. ReplyDeleteyes I know this song, here in NL it has been played a lot (since both of them are Dutch) and this is a very nice summery song. Even though I am not so keen on dance music in general, I like Armin van Buuren a lot because he makes it always very special. I guess he does not win all the awards for best DJ not for nothing.
And you are right, Sharon is a very talented singer, I have seen her live as well and she has, just like you, an incredible stage personality and a very beautiful voice.

ReplyDeleteI REALLY, REALLY think you and her should do a duet together, either you sing on a Within Temptation song, or she sings on a Nightwish song (OR...Nightwish and Within Temptation compose a song together! lol ^_^;). I know NW and WT are both possibly recording next year (maybe), so it could work-out that NW and WT have albums out at the same time again and could record something together. This just goes to show that it is talent that makes good music. A person with a good voice can sing beautifully with any genre. Sharon worked her way into becoming one of my vocal idols when a friend showed me the music video for "Angels". The quality of her voice is the same live as with recordings. She holds the same power and emotive qualities in the recording studio and on stage. I hope that someday I will become a vocalist with that strength in my voice.

ReplyDeleteIt was the first band I got to know from the metal-genre. I live in Belgium, so they showed clips on tv etc. That band means a lot to me. 'Mother Earth' is still one of my fav cd's.
The second band in the metal-genre I got to know was Nightwish ;) Within Temptation was a motivation to search further!
I also love this song! I also think it's nice to do something non-metal! I love different styles of music.. Also love The Gossip! Since I saw them last year at Rock Werchter!
