..time and trying to wake up nice and slow...

I am leaving for the chiropractor soon to see if he can fix my back and neck since I am so stiff and have the worst pain in my whole right side and cant even look backwards that direction. I think the tivoli ride did some pretty bad damage in my back;=(
My mum said that I am to old for going in the rides and I think I have to agree...maybe I am not to old but my body is;=) hehe...

Today will otherwise be a social day cause I am going to meet my childhood friend and my sister today. It will be great;=) We all have busy schedules so its hard to get some time to meet, but today we will make it happen;=)

And I will also take my new super nice bike which I havent been riding so much on (shame on me) and ride to get some black paint to fix those little things that were bad in the wall painting.

I also have something I need some suggestions for and maybe you all can help me? I have bought some nice beige colour to use for writing some words in a kitchen wall. I have seen things like: live your dream, this is a kitchen etc...

I dont want any to long sentence, quite if you have some suggestions, please write it in the comments sections and help me;=) thanks!

  1. Good Morning,Anette!

Oh ,I hope you will feel better.Back pain is horrible,I know how you feel =(

That's so nice you're meeting your friend and sister and share wonderful memories:D!It's a great opportunity!;)

And I hope you will enojoy the ride!Honestly,I haven't ride a bike for ages eighter,so shame one me!:P

Beige is a great colour.About suggestions I don't know, but maybe I can give some aid(inspired by your ideas):"Dream On","Life is precious","Don't forget to smile everyday" etc.Hope it helps!

    Cristina xxx

  2. "Bon appetit!" for your kitchen ;)

  3. I have one sentence in my mind, and that is "Follow your own path". Don't know does it fit in the kitchen, but... ; )
And hope your back and neck gets better :/

  4. There are so many good words for writing on a wall and I can't write all of them here. But here are some suggestions for your wall:

Give everyday the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life - Mark Twain

The queen of recipes is the imagination.

If you think you can, you can.

Always live on the bright side of life.

Dedicate yourself to the love and cooking with all your heart - Dalai Lama

So, have a very nice and relaxing day and good luck with your back. We are never too old for fun (even if we get one's comeuppance ;-))

  5. How about "Kiss the cook"?

  6. Good morning Anette!

I would write "Remember today", So I will not waste the day planning the future too much. Or thinking about the past. For me it is important to enjoy the present! :-)

Hope your back will get better soon!

  7. Hope your back feels better soon...
You could just write individual words such as hope and faith on the wall.
    Best wishes xx

  8. Good Morning Anette,

I hope your back and neck can be fixed again, this kind of pain is not nice at all.

Here are some of mine suggestions for your kitchen wall writing:

    1. Kiss the Cook!
    2. Anette's Cafè - open 24 hours
    3. Carpe Diem
    4. Eat Dessert First
    5. Eat well. Laugh often. Love much.
    6. Happiness is Homemade
    7. Wine is bottled poetry
    8. No rain, No rainbows.
    9. Love Begins at Home.

  9. My uncle, who lives on the highest floor of a pretty big house, wrote on his living room wall "Above us only sky" (he also wrote "John Lennon" in smaller fonts to remind everybody where the quote came from :)).
That adds a nice touch :)

  10. Hey Nettie!
I hope thta pain will fade away !
    Good luck Nettie
I wish you all the best!
    Hugs and Take care♥

  11. oh, My back is also dying. :(
I hope pilates will help a little...

  12. Hey Anette,
just a quick thought, what about

"Sun always shines... in my kitchen"

    or simply

    Have fun :-)

  13. dinners ready wen the fire alarm goes off
when life gives u lemons, make apple juice then sit back and watch the world wonder how you did it

  14. Hi, Anette! Great idea about short phrases on the wall! I think, you should write something positive to make your mood every day. For eaxample: "Life is beautiful", "Always look at the bright side of life", "Don't worry, be happy", etc.
    Have a nice day! =)

  15. Godmorgon Anette!

  16. I can only suggest "Follow your dreams no matter what" :))

  17. Here I start in ENGLISH:

    1. Feed us!
    2. Food = Love
    3. If you love me, feed me
    4. Cook for me (my love)
    5. Yummi!
    6. Chief cook = "your bf' name"
    7. Smells like cook spirit!
    8. You are my cookie/s
    9. NightFish for all!
    10. I want it all
    11. All or nothing
    12. Perfect Love, perfect food (or invert)

  18. I have been looking for some nice and short quotes and I came across one that I found really cute, it's from Winnie the Pooh, the whole sentence goes like: "It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" - "what about lunch?" fits a kitchen pretty well I think, and it also has a reference to the sweetest cartoon character. There's another cute one about food, "The belly rules the mind"

I also found a music quote I liked, "Scream me a love song" and one that said "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow", from which you could pick only "Live for today" maybe.

I hope the wall turns out awesome!

  19. Oh i hope yoy'll feel better soon, sometimes a gentle walk in the nature helps!. And my suggestion to your wall is simple "Life tastes good". :)

  20. Hi dear Anette

  21. hi Nettie!
can i ask a question about your sister? is she younger or older than you?
sorry, i'm not asking 'cause i want to know everything about your family, but you know, i've translated quite a lot of interviews etc for our hungarian nightwish fansite. you've mentioned her somewhere, and in hungarian we don't use the word 'sister', we have two different words for 'younger sister' and 'elder sister', so i had to guess..: ))))
    get well soon!: )))

  22. I have one, hahaha! It's portugese, it's a native expression

    'Aki ki nóis come'

Don't missunderstand the 'come' part, it has nothing to do with 'to come', it means 'eat' in portugese! hahaha I don't think you'll use that, but it's cool, it means 'Here we eat', but in a funny way like 'hey, it's here where we eat'!

I hope you get better and spent a lot of time with joy and with your old friends. I wonder if Finish lenguage is close to sweeden, like spanish to portugese!

  23. Hi Anette!

Well, first of all I wish a quick healing on your body. :)
And next, my suggestions for your kitchen wall: 1) Carpe Diem (I know it was written in a previous comment , but this is a very very very important sentence!)
    2) Some quotes from the song The Answer Lies Within by Dream Theater, like this one: "I know whatever you decide you're gonna shine." or this: "Face each day with both eyes open wide. And try to give, don't keep it all inside." (OK, it was a bit long)
    3) Don't Give Up. :) It's a very simple sentence, but it gives very very much strength. :)

I hope I helped you! Have a nice day. :)

  24. Hi Anette

In the kitchen of a friend of mine there's written "Les petits plaisirs se retrouvent également dans l'assiette" wich means (in French) "Small pleasures can also be found in the plate"
Good luck for your back (don't say you're too old cause we are old only when we believe it) and have a nice day with your friend and sister.

  28. Dear Anette,

seems that you will have a very nice day with your sister and your friend!!!

I'm terribly sorry for your back and neck and I hope that the chiropractor will help you to be fit very soon!!!
In my oppinion your definetly not too old for going on rollercoasters and those things....because sometimes it can cause pain to physically really young people too !!!

Here are some ideas for the kitchen wall:

1.Great eaters and great sleepers are incapable of anything else that is great!

2.All you need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

3.One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating!
(sorry if the last one is a bit too long but personally I like it a lot)

Have a great day!!! Take care!!!

P.S: see you in a week when I will be back from vacation with my sister

  29. Well, I hope going to the doctor works
out well, because I know what you mean.
    I have scoliosis and my
back and neck get painful a lot too.

    Well that should be nice!
I am also meeting a childhood friend
this coming week! Haha, that's weird!
But I haven't seen her in almost
three years and we wanted to get together
after I got back from Texas
    and before school started again.
So I'm really excited about that.

Well then, shame on you and my mum both
because she got a new bike
and I bet it's only left the garage
    a couple times! HaHa

Well it seems there are too many
good ones but I have three-

"Preparation is the father of inspiration."
"Necessity is the mother of invention."
"Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we may die."

And if you think about it, they all really
    do work for kitchen quotes.
You don't have to take the third one
seriously I guess, I just thought it was funny
and actualy pretty good for a kitchen quote.
I heard them all on an episode
of the X-Files and never forgot them.

The chracters said those to each other while
they were arguing over ice rceam-
right be before the guy character gets up
and says, "I scream, you scream, we all scream
    for non-fat tofutti rice dreamsicles."
and takes a bite out of the woman's ice cream.
    It was funny :D

But I'm getting ready to leave to go with
my dad and step-mum(her being chinese)to go
to the Asian Market. So if I see you
    haven't found anything by then,
I will try to think of some more and
    post another comment.

    Hugs and love, Katie T.

  30. Good morning Anette!

I know what you mean, back and neck pain is something so awful. Unfortunately, I have the same problem as you =(.
    I hope you'll feel better soon =).
About your wall ... you could write 'Carpe Diem' =).
    Have a nice day.

  31. Aaah, I know how bad it is when your back and neck are hurting, I have to crack them every hour or something because it starts te hurt if I don't =( Hope it'll be better soon for you!

Hmm.. Things to write on a kitchen wall..
    Good question =P
-Bringer of food (With maybe a little drawing of a cook next to it)

Or just some little drawings =) Always fun ^^

  32. "Every day without a smile is a lost day"

"It's better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you pretend to be!"

I know the last one is very long but it's my life motto ;-)

    Have a nice day!

  33. I have 'Hope Faith Love' painted on my wall :) Doesn't have anything to do with a kitchen, but still.
Maybe 'Amo ergo sum' (I love, therefore I am) or classy 'Cogito, ergo sum' (I think, therefore I am). (both Latin)
Don't think these are good ideas but it's the best I could come up with that hasn't been posted yet :)
    Have a nice evening Nettie!

  34. I'm sorry about your pain. This is not nice, I hope you back and neck get better soon :)

I did some research and then, I found some nice quotes, they're bit long, sorry :D

"In the childhood memories of every good cook, there's a large kitchen, a warm stove, a simmering pot and a mom." (Barbara Costikyan)

"If you can organize your kitchen, you can organize your life." (Louis Parrish)

"If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." (Harry S. Truman)

"Best way to get rid of kitchen odors: Eat out." (Phyllis Diller)

"Meals and Memories Are Made Here."

"Good Friends, Good Food, Good Times."

    "Sit Long...Talk Much...Laugh Often."

Take care and have a nice day,

  35. I don't know if anyone has written this yet, I haven't read the comments, but: "If music be the food of love, play on". We have a sign in our kitchen that says so, and I always enjoy reading it. :)

  36. Yo Nettie! I think it would be cool if you painted your favorite family recipes on your wall.. That way they are alway there when you need them and it'll give your kitchen a very personal style. Only thing though, that may be too much writing, haha. XD <3

  37. I'm so sorry for your back and neck. =( I hope they are ok soon.
I can't go any amusement parks..well I can, but I can't go any rides there because it will sooner or later hurt my head. I get a headache always when I go to the rides. When I was younger I went to the rides several times.

So how many sisters and brothers do you have? I hope you have fun while meeting your sister and friend!
I will go tomorrow to see the newest Harry Potter movie with my sister. Looking forward to it! =)

Thanks for reminding me that I really should go biking today. I haven't exercised for days.

  38. hello!!!
    "living fast, dying young" or
    "made at home" :P
    have a nice weekend! :)

  39. How would you like to write something in Latin?? :D Here are some interesting phrases:

1.ab imo pectore- from the bottom of the heart with deep and sincere emotion
2.ab ovo usque ad mala -literally "From the egg to the apples", meaning from the beginning to the end
3.absit invidia -Let ill feeling be absent
    4.alma mater -nurturing mother
5.bis vivit qui bene vivit-the man who lives well lives twice
6.Deo gratias- Thanks be to god
7.Dominus illuminatio mea -The lord is my light
8.esto perpetua -May you last forever omnia paratus -ready for everything
10.maximus in minimis -very great in very little things
11.ora por nobis -pray for us nubila, Phoebus -after clouds, the sun

I dont want to overwhelm you, so I'll just give you all of those as examples for now :) My punctuation is off, but that's because I dont know how to do all that on the computer yet, but if you like the idea I have MANY more phrases and words-an entire book actually :) I personally love the language, it can say so much with such a small amount of words. If you do like it, I would be more than willing to help you get more phrases and whatnot :) Thank you for reading! Just let me know!

  40. Okay, I am back from the market,
    had some nice herbal tea,
and found a few more quotes-

"I am a part of all that I have met."
    -Alfred Lord Tennyson

"To learn something new, take the path that
    you took yesterday." -John Burroughs

"Reason and faith are both banks of the same
    river." -Doménico Cieri Estrada

    "Meditate. Live purely. Be quiet.
Do your work with mastery. Like the moon, come
out from behind the clouds! Shine." -Buddha

"Music is the movement of sound, to reach the
soul for the education of its virtue." -Plato

    I think that Plato's quote
and Alfred Lord Tennyson's quote work
    really well for you.
    Actually, they all do! :)
If you are looking for something else
or more specific, let us know.

By the way, I do not
think you or your body is old ;=)

    Hugs and love, Katie T.

  41. Hey Anette!

I hope your back feels better and you have a nice visit with your friend and sister. :) Here are my suggestions for your kitchen. I just painted lyrics on my bathroom wall too! lol

    1. Never settle for mediocrity (my personal motto)
    2. "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul." (Taken from the poem "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley)
    3. "Two roads diverged in a wood and I- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." (Yeah I know, that one is long, but still one of my favorites. lol. Taken from the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost)
4."Believe in the direction of your dreams." (Thoreau)
    5. "Live the life you have imagined." (Thoreau)

Those may or may not help. They're probably all too long. lol ;)

  42. Hej Anette! My suggestion for your kitchen is one of my favorite sayings from the bible, simply: Faith, Hope, Love.

And of course the greatest of these is love.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  43. Hellu Anette!
I so realize you with your back cause mine hurts sometimes and the right side exactly. I haven't been to chiropractor but my mum has and it really worked. But I have this cause my spine is not really straight and that bothers me so i had to think about it too...
    And about the kitchen:
maybe that will be nice by you ;=)
    1. Kitchen Area
    2. A place for a nice time
    3. Once there was ...
    4. Family center
    5. Magic talk in here
    6. Let it be tasty
    and many others...)))

  44. Hi there ^^
Oh quotes.... hmm i remember one from Tuomas " a passionate is a never wasted one"
Or for you especially i would say :
    " Never give up"
    " Follow your dreams"
    " Music is life"
    " Nettan's food " ;)
Have a nice evening, take care <3

  45. Hi Anette,
Just some things that came to my mind when I read you post:
    - Reached my boiling point!
    - And the pot said to the kettle...
    - baking factory
    - my kitchen is just as yummie as a gingerbread house
    Best wishes, Denise

  46. Your body may just have forgotten how YOUNG your soul is! You should forgive him, for once! : )

Quote of Lewis Carroll (write of Alice in Wonderland)

'Jam tomorrow, jam yesterday, but never jam today!'

I think it's a LOVELY one... But it may be personal. :p

(ps. if anyone knows how to change this stupid name, PLEASE contact me..(if it's possible anyway) Sorry for the off topic thingy... )

  47. Hello Anette !
I hope that your back hurts were finished and you feel better !
For your kitchen, I saw on TV a decoration program where sentences coming from poems about meal theme were used to decorate the kitchen wall. It can be an idea ...

    Good evening
    Kisses !

  48. Hy Anette!:)
    "Follow your dreams"
    "Never give up your way"
"Look the miracle of life at all time"
    I hope you feel better!
    Good Night!:)

  49. Well, I have this in my kitchen, it's short and nice for me: Cooking is culture!

    Hugs! :)

  50. Hello Anette, I am so sorry to hear about your back. I am currently watching one of your brillant live performances on my computer. I will say a prayer for you so that you feel better.

Nightwish is my all time favorite band and has changed my life in many ways. Take care and feel better soon. Goodbye.

    Adam :)

  51. Heyo Anette! Sorry to hear about your back... that's the worst pain >.<

Some loving for your wall... Well, you could be all mysterious and do something like "You may say that I'm a dreamer... but I'm not the only one." or something witty like "Don't touch my *insert favorite food here*". I dunno, but you'll think of something fab!

Some of my favorite Edgar Allan Poe quotes:

"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream"
"I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity."
"I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat."
"There is an eloquence in true enthsiasm."
"We loved with a love that was more than love."

    Good luck!

    xx Marz

  52. Hi Anette!
Try "Chop Chop!" for your kitchen! =)

    Sharon Sereniszy

PS: I like your blog! :D

  53. Hi Anette, hope the chiropractor can fix your back, sounds painful =(

"When in doubt, add more wine" is a sign we have hanging in our kitchen. Not sure that's much help :P

    Have a nice day!

  54. "If music be the food of love, play on"

I think it suits it perfectly, with the food part since it's a kitchen, and the music part since you are so musical and love music, as we all are well aware of. :)

  55. as life is what you make it, kitchen is what you cook it

  56. How about "Feed your Body and your Spirit"? You are putting so much effort into good food and a good atmosphere. It seems like it would be fitting for both things.
