My parents always told us to be outside to play. We rarely sat inside and played like kids do today. We were out having all the neighbourhoods kids gathered in some hide and seek or red and white rose games, chasing after each other...
The worst part of being a kid those days was for me that people smoked everywhere...in the car, in the kitchen, in the living room, in the bed room...everywhere...and it was noone thinking about not smoking on the kids..no, the kids were in the car with the smoke etc..talk about passive smokers...
And we didnt have so much money so the weekend evenings were made like a party by watching the hockey games and everyone in the family placing a "bet" about who was gonna win the game...then the winner won a home-baked cake with whipped cream and jam;=) And it was so nice sitting there with everyone together and having a cosy time. Worth so much more than having all those toys or tv-games all together.
Being a mum makes me remember and seeing things through my sons eyes and I must say that I love those opportunities like this weekend when I was a kid for 2 days and just being totally crazy in the rides;=)
Me, Marco and Tuomas was in Disneyland Anaheim a year ago and it was the exact same thing...when we came in there, me and Marco was a bit like: ok, so are we gonna go in the Snowhite-ride that is for little kids??? ;=) And then we just looked at each other and laughed and said: lets be kids for a day! Be childish, enjoy the thrills and moments in that exact moment without thinking of being mature and adult... and we had such a blast and went in all the rides there too;=)
I have my "little Nettan" inside me all the time and she reminds me of being happy for the life I have and have had up till now and enjoy those childish moments and embrace it and I do. I hope you do too;=)
Here she is, "little Nettan"....still going strong!
Aww it's a nice picture!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't that long ago that I was a child, and I still am in some ways. But things have changed even in my lifetime. I think people are sometimes expected to grow up too quickly - I reached 16 less than a month ago and suddenly a lot of people assume that this makes me a young adult... it doesn't happen overnight!
aww how sweet!
ReplyDeletei agree with what yo say.
We have to thank God for everything we have, our story is precious whatever we are
thanks a lot for the photo
so cute*.*
ReplyDeleteI totally agree and what an adorable picture of you by the way, you look just like a little doll!
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough someone sent this to me by e-mail, matching the subject perfectly:
"Were you born before 1985?
And those of you who were born after 1985, maybe you should take heed. Maybe you could learn something by reading the following article.
According to today's regulators, bureaucrats, and politicians those of us who were kids in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's or even the early 80's, probably shouldn't have survived.
Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint.
We had no child-proof lids or locks on medicine bottles, doors, or cabinets, or cigarette lighters, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets; not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking along the side of the road.
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags, and full metal dashboards without any padding. Car steering wheels did not collapse in a major accident, and the brakes were not ABS.
Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. No cell phones. Unthinkable!
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable TV, video tape movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms.
We had friends! We went outside and found them.
We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt.
We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents?
We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it. No anger management classes!
We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and had BB guns, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out anyone’s eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.
We ate meats, cheese, and drank milk with NO expiration date on the label, and no calorie information or fat grams listed- just the ingredients! If it smelled bad we threw it out.
A "special diet" meant that you stopped eating and stuffing your face.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment and failure.
Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and were held back to repeat the same grade, but we still had self-esteem.
Tests were not adjusted for any reason. The "bell-curve" in school did not exist.
Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected. It was YOUR fault!
The idea of parents bailing us out if we got in trouble in school or broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the school or the law. Imagine that!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors, ever.
We had freedom, failure, success, and responsibility - and we learned how to deal with it.
And you're one of them! Congratulations. You survived and made it on your own."
Really, really sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteHiHi, very sweet picture. unfortunately i don't have many good memories of my Childhood. I had bronchitis and was very much in the hospital, fortunately that part of my life has gone. It is important to keep a child from within us, that makes us better people. Unfortunately that innocence does not back, but can be better people, just only want to.
ReplyDeleteI like the picture! You were so cute =D
ReplyDeleteI agree with all things you said, about smoking, and old days...
I mean, I'm not 'too old', only 15, but as yo said in the past children were playing more outside, more with other, not spending so much money as they do today.
As told, i got only 15, but i remember when i were etc 5 or 6, then there weren't computers, and all children from village were playing.
today i don't see many kids outside house, now there is computers, play stations...
Smoking... i don't like smoking, i hate when my parents smoke -.-'
but the worst thing in our world today is that kids are smoking too. yesterday i went outside and see 10 year old GIRL smoking, WTF? where do i live? It's true that lots of people were smoked before, but those people were adults
This centuary is sooooooo different than 20th, and everything is changed, like we don't live anymore in the same world.
How your teenage years were? could you write something once time, pliz?, i'm just interested, because i'm that age
Hugs and greets, Anette
I am 38 like you and I totally understand what you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteNot loosing the ability to let out the child, which is present in us everytime, keeps us young and happy!
As I was 14 I told my mother I want to be a child for my whole life. It's not possible everytime but I try to keep the ability, for example through going to concerts and festivals as much as possible and just beeing myself.
But more and more I get in conflict with myself because there are so lot of people which expect from you to be so mature and professional. It's so sad that many people loose the child in theirselves very early.
It's fantastic that you do such great things with your son and that you can feel yourself as small Nettan :-)
Keep it forever!!
Lots of lovely hugs and kisses,
Marco
True..
ReplyDeleteWell I'm not that "old" to talk about these things, but i do remember when i was like 5 and me and my sister always went outside and play with our friends>.>. Hmmm to tell you the truth I'm still going with my classmates on the play ground almost every day, even if the age limit is 14 x). I really LOVE kids ^^ . Hehe now I wish i was younger.
By the way,Nettie, that picture of you is sooo CUTE. You still have those beautifull eyes and sweet smile =^.^=
Hugggggs!!!

Isabelle
OOOMGGG!! SOO CUUUTEEEE *-----*
ReplyDeleteI love you ♥
Hi Anette,
ReplyDeletenow i see little Nettan playing on the meadows of heaven. ;)
Keep your little Nettan forever, life is hard enough. Many people these days have forgotten what life is all about...
I am not sure but maybe "For the heart i once had" is about losing this child in us.
Best regards
Yotapong
Oh my God , that is sooooo adorable picture of you!!! I want to go to Disneyland too! I am happy for you Tuomas and Marco! I hope it was a great time!
ReplyDeleteYes , I remember when I was a kid! I had a nice childhood. It was a great time...
Hugs from Croatia!
P.S. Nettie , have you received the CD which I sent to you? Sorry If I am too boring. Have a great evening.
Love
Ena
Beautiful Photo;=)
ReplyDelete♥
You look so much the same!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
xxx
awww this is a very cute post =D
ReplyDeletewell, i grew up in today's age...and am still growing up, of course! But when I was really little, i remember watching movies on VHS and stuff and it seems so archaic these days!
also, a whole bunch of kids our age spend time remembering when there were "good" shows on TV channels like Nickelodeon, and how they are now replaced with crappy ones.
Little kids always play outside though. I remember i used to all the time when i had the chance, and I see kids playing out in the street at all hours of the day anyway =D
I even go outside sometimes if there's someone to hang out with!
The internet is both a blessing and a curse. It connects the whole world and makes things like keeping in contact with your favorite celebrity via her awesome blog possible. On the other hand, people stop going outside and enjoying the simpler things in life.
That picture of you is so CUTE! =D
Vilken supergullig bild:D
Ha det så bra!
//Ellinor
You are such an inspiration--- I hope I'm as positive as you when I'm your age. I'm 18, but I'm convinced my little me is only 6 or 7. =]
ReplyDeleteOh Anette, how sweet ...)
ReplyDeleteWhen i was a kid we didn't have these things either i mean things you've called)_
i can say that all the memories from my childhood are really warm. It was more like walking all the time outside the house untill mum is calling you for a dinner or something)_
And getting older i do really wonder how fast people grow up and do change from inside, just now you were playing together and then going to school and now she got to be a mum and has her own family. For me it's hard to understand. I'm already 20 but i don't imagine myself starting a family and in a mum's role,so...))
You look so nice at the picture,well..as we all do i think being that young ;=)
How does it feel to have a kid? ..what did you feel right after becoming a mum in your first mum's days?...very interested to know ;=)
Inga
You made me smile with what you wrote and you took me back to my childhood days. ^^ It's incredible how comforting could be just remembering those days and bring those images to our minds, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI read once something that it's very true, and said that when you are a kid everything is so clear and possible, no prejudices, there's no fear of dreaming about the things you want to happen to you, but then as you grow up, a mysterious force begin to convince you that it will be impossible for you to make real what you always wanted to accomplished.
And I think that's the main difference between our inner kid and us as "mature human beings". The Fear. The fear of dream beyond our dreams, to feel beyond our feelings, the fear of be labeled as "childish"...
I turned 20 years old weeks ago, and even I can see a difference with the things nowadays kids have fun, and the way me and my friends did. No computer, no amazing 3D video games, the most close to it was the Family or Sega Video Games, haha... Mario Bros was a lot of fun =P
I feel so blessed and I thank God that I had an incredible and wonderful childhood. My best memories are from that time.
Have a Good night Anette ^^
You were so CUTE as a kid, Anette! *.*
ReplyDeleteConcerning the childhood thing, you're right... when I was a kid, I rarely stayed inside the house. I was always joking around with many neighbours, playing childish games, having fun... being totally innocent. I never had many joys, so we used to be very criative, and it was very good for me. Especially because I lived in a very, very small city until my teens, and I had a close contact with the nature, something that I have missed lately.
It's nice you brought this subject up... people have forgotten how good is to be a child (in the essence) again these days.
OMG, so cute *-*
ReplyDeleteLittle Nettan =P
I miss being a kid and having bath with my toys. There were no worries and everything seemed larger than it really was :D
ReplyDeleteYou look SO cute in the photo. And still you are. SO beautiful inside and outside.
In my childhood, people smoked everywhere too. My father and my grandparents are smokers. Maybe, that's why I have rhinitis.
Anette, do you have respiratory problems? I hope no.
Hugs,
Fábio
Oo, you look so cute in that picture^^
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, you're right about the video games and all... I'm so young that I have lived my whole life with tv, computer etc... But when I was younger, we still played a lot of games in outdoors with the other children^^ I can say that it was so much funnier than playing videogames. But still, time flies and things changes. It's a bit shame, but luckily nowdays you can find something as nice as in the past :)) And Disneyland is a good example! I would like to go there too some day :--)
BIG HUG ;)
My childhood was bittersweet, to say the least. Yes, I love my father, but I wish things had turned out differently.
ReplyDeleteBut if they had turned out different, would I be the strong woman I am today? The phrase 'What don't kill ya makes you more strong' makes the proper-English speaker in me cringe, but that's something I agree with.
By all accounts, I shouldn't have survived my childhood, nearly died more than once(not exaggerating here) Lets just say that I'm an adult-survivor of child-abuse for one of the things. The other one was nearly dying from pnemonia when I was 8.
I'm not going to say 'thank god' because I don't want to start a religious conflict( I lost my faith in Chrisianity 2 years ago)but I survived for some reason, hopfully I'll discover that reason somewhere down the line.
Not saying I'm depressed, because I'm not, not at all, but I do have a hidden dark side that pokes it's head out on occasion.
Hope that my comment didn't upset you :)
Falyssa
ouu!! you look soo sweet on that photo!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you in the matter of smoking, that's really bad, I think people should smoke only in places where thay do not annoy anyone. I hope we have that law here in Spain ver soon... ¬¬ haha
I also remember when i was a child, i'm not too ald but things have changed a lot in such a short period of time... I am only 20 so I can imagine how dofferent you see child's life now comparing those things you had and what nowadays' children have to spen their free time: thousands of tv-channels, mobile phones, the Internet and a lot of computer games! haha
This makes people think of how materialist we have become, we couldn't live without those things now... =)
kisses Anette!
What a really nice post (and photo) Anette =).
ReplyDeleteI agree wityh Josimari, it's nice that you brought this subject up ... it's great to have a inner child inside of us =). I miss those days when I was younger and had nothing to worry about, but things change, people change ... but I know I will always have a 'child' inside of me =).
Hugs
Wow, that photo is so nice! I am amazed on how you had exactly the same features as you have now. I mean, children usually have big round eyes, but you had that long "cat-eye" awesome shape since then! Same thing applies to the mouth. Thanks for sharing this photo with us! <3
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Romania
One of my favourite sayings is 'Live for today, because tomorrow may never come.' You have to enjoy everything, even if that means acting like a kid at Disneyland and getting wierd stares from everyone else.
ReplyDeleteYou looked cute as a kid.
jeriksson
your face didn't change :P
ReplyDeleteHi Anette,
ReplyDeleteA "little Anette" is inside of you!!
I thinked this.
I have my child with me all the time.
Be as child.
Godbless
Kiss from Brazil
Aww, you are so cute! That is adorable! Aww!!!
ReplyDeletePeople still smoke everywhere, only
now there's a few laws to prevent
it from being in public.
That's why I'm glad when my mum does
smoke(which isn't often now that shes quiting)
that she goes outside.
But I'm also a very big nature and pollution
person, so it's kinda sad at the same time.
Well, with my condition,
no I can't remember much of being a kid.
Which is sad, being that I'm only 17
and I can't remember anything past the divorce
of my parents when I was 6...
if I look back that's the only full day
I can remember...
But I do get flashs and clips of playing
with bubbles(which no kids do anymore),
or with the animals in the barn,
or swinging, playing house in my grandma's
back yard. I love that one thing
we have always done, no matter what technology
is out there- is going camping. In tents.
No technology, just the woods,
maybe fishing and swimming in the creeks,
and a lot of fire's with just you
and your family and friends.
That's the best family time, when you don't
have to worry about
doing anything but having fun.
With the divorce, I grew up and was raised
by my grandma and my aunt for awhile, while my
mum worked. And we were always outside.
Still are. If anything, the first
and only thing I do at my grandma's is
go outside and swing while reading a book.
Living in a city, like now, it's a
little harder to have a relazing evening
with the noise that might be going on.
But my grandma still lives in the country
and days with her are some of the best.
All I have to do is be outside with the
animals or a book and a blanket in the field.
But I guess that's kinda what I like
about living in a small city-
everything is so close there's no need
to have a car to get everywhere.
But I also think kids these days don't
get enough credit.
Because we don't spend as much time with
video games or T.V. like adults think we do.
I know about half of my friends
would rather be outside playing some game,
then at the mall or movies.
Yeah, being overweight might be more common now then back, but that's mostly with larger
cities. I live in this small hick town city and these kids are as skinny as rails.
But like I said, it's kinda a hick town, so we have a lot of farming and stuff so
all that work outside might explain it.
And it's a shame that a lot of adults
forget what is like to be a kid,
and want to do nothing but have fun.
It's sad how that effects how they raise
their children. I think that more
adults should look at some situations
and think- "Hey let's be children
again for a few moments."
Thanks for bringing up this topic,
it's not something people usually think about
until like you, they spend time doing something childish and
realize how good life can be.
Hugs and love, Katie T.
You looked adorable back then, Anette! <3
ReplyDeleteI remember being a kid, I hardly had the best childhood ever, alot of it what I remember are notvery good memories =[ But aside from the bad things: I remember fun and good things, like playing with my friends in the playgrounds (My favourite memory was when me and three of my friends decided to play the Lions from The Lion King and we all had sore throats when we had to go back in x3)Swimming with my father every sunday when I saw him. I miss those days when the world didn't mean anything, and everything was careless and innocent, no matter how many things go wrong. A few weeks ago I had work experiance at a childrens school, I was so supprised at how innocent and cute they was (and they know more french that I do! D8)
I wish I could be a child again, but ah well, aged 15 I'm expected to grow up ¬.¬
I remember as a child that with my brother played out. We played with de bikes.
ReplyDeleteToday you can not do that, because the insecurity in Argentina is very big.
Today the kids are playing very locked with de play station...the pc...
Finally, my childhood was very funny!!!
kisses!
Such a beautiful photo! :-) I'm glad your "little Nettan" is still happy in your heart.
ReplyDeleteFor me, watching The Lion King again really brings back my childhood memories. Loved that film so much! Or looking at old photos with sandcastles or snowmen that I made. It's great not to forget who we are. :-)
I was lucky to have very nice neighbours of my age and older when I was a little girl. we played together all the time! we made scientific laboratory on the fallen tree, we jumped from swing (now I understand that this was pretty dangerous, but we had so much fun XDD). we even played in Fort Boyard, I'm not sure if you khow about this show. my childhood was priceless.
ReplyDeletemy little Constance is always with me, because I don't want to let her go :)
Even ten years ago, when I was a child,we were always playing outside, going swimming, riding bikes, etc. and hardly spent time indoors. I look at my cousins kids and they all spend their free time indoors on the computer and in front of the idiot box. Glad you still let your inner "Nettan" run wild =].
ReplyDelete-Brian
Your article means a lot, it was moving, and of course, you're right. I didn't have any video games or computer either 'till my teen days. I was so jealous of my pals who possessed something my parents couldn't buy me...
ReplyDeleteBut I realise now this was nothing. Memories of simple things, like playing with kids, telling stupid jokes, singing songs that we used to learn in class, that's for real.
The picture is so cute. You look so shy and innocent ^^
Thanks for sharing so much about your life :)
Viduderlig måte å se livet på. Man kan ikke ta alt like seriøst hele tiden.
ReplyDeleteAww Anette you look such a cutie :)
ReplyDeleteHej Anette!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! =) To be able to live and feel through the eyes of the Child within is something you must be really proud of. The world would be so much better if everyone did the same.
...Tuomas wrote that "only innocence can save the world", and I really believe this is much more than just a cliche. It's a deep truth.
Thank you Anette for keeping your inner child alive! =)
Love and hugs,
Elisa
i totaly needed this, i was having some realy BAD days and now that i read your post, it's true! i need to enjoy everything, enjoy life, like i used to in childhood :D

ReplyDeleteverry cute
*-*
yes, teh old time of chilhood *-*
and i have only 16 and my childhood its verry look like your anette
oO`
That is such an adorable picture of you! :D
ReplyDeleteI am 19 and I had been the youngest, and I never had a large family (except when we were all at family reunions and there were dozens of cousins from all over the place to run around with!), so it wasn't until the past couple years when I began to realize how much of my childhood has slipped away. One of my friends is 20 but has a 3 year old sister and I go over to their house a lot and help watch her, and it brings me back to when I was that young and the limit of my imagination was... nonexistant.
I didn't play outside as often as I probably should have, especially since mom didn't like for me to stray far, but after growing up to be who I am now, part of me wishes that I was born earlier so I had a chance to grow up into an adult without things like the internet and the like. The internet is fun, but part of my soul feels like it belongs in the 70s or 80s..
How lovely!! There's something in your face that somehow stays the same =)
ReplyDeleteChildhood can be an awesome part of one's life (though, it can also be the worst, somehow kids are even more cruel than adults sometimes...)
I may have the wrong sight, but it seems that kids are growing quite fast (like things should be done now-a-days)...
Also, once you have certain age somehow you feel forced to act in a more "adult" way, 'cuz been childish is not always well seen.
But I do believe it doesn't have to be like that, I think there are times when it is allowed to be/feel/act as a child again...
Well, Take care!!! =)
What a cute little girl is up there! :D
ReplyDeleteI am 25 so I lived in a totally different world than it is now. Of course many things can change within 10 years but when I do remember the good old days.
My grandparents spoilt me and my sister but luckily we turned out to be pretty level-headed. I never been one of those kids who played video games, had the coolest or the newest stuff because we couldn't afford them either. We were happy to get chocolate, bubble gum or oranges from my grandparents! That's the way they spoilt us! I remember hanging out with neighbor's kids until late evening during the summers and just come back home tired and dirty but happy. I was the youngest among all of the cousins so.. I couldn't hang out with my older cousins so I always was stuck with the elders :P However when I didn't get a chance to hang out with my peers I entertained myself! I was never bored with myself, I am still not XD My parents used to take me to for fruit picking and my grandparents used to take me to their friend's farm to hang out and help. Still remember the taste of warm milk and fresh bread with butter, straight from the farmer's wife's hands! Aw, it was awesome.. Wish to do that again sometimes! Find a farm and just go there to relax and turn back in time.
I think kids used to have more contact with nature and eachother. There was TV and games but kids weren't focus so much on playing and watching TV. They went out to play soccer, play with dolls, cars, kids games outside. I remember setting up small picnics outside of the building apartment I live only not to be stuck at home. Wish that parents would sometimes take a break with work and ask the kids to put a computer or a ps3 away, to go away and spend time with eachother. Can't help but think that this technology boom (even though necessary), made us forget about most important things. We;re in constant rush and don't live a life the way it's supposed to be lived. In balance and harmony.
I often envy my nephew to be less than 3 years old. He looks at the world with such an incredible innocence and curiosity. He always wants to explore and experience. No wonder that Tibethian monks often say that when we pass the age of 3-5, we lose the contact with not only our inner-selves but also the world and nature. We stop listen, explore, just experience, we judge others for who they are or what they have. We lose the inner child.
Maybe I have gotten a bit too far but I think that inner-child is not only about getting silly and kiddish but also about staying opened, non-judgemental, curious, with hunger for life and love. Just like a child. :)
Little Karolina peekes out of the curtain as often as she can. I hope your little self one stay with you all too!
Thank you for the post Anette and goodnight.
Hugs,
Karo E.
I couldn't agree with you more. I had a wonderful childhood and would have been quite happy being a little kid for the rest of my life. That child-like quality is still inside me and comes out to play every once in awhile. Sometimes I still see magical worlds behind what should be an ordinary "Adult" reality. :) There's nothing like being able to be carefree like you were when you were little, even if it's just for a short while.
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember! =)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl we had a tv, but there wasn't any remote controls at that time. Me and my sister always had a little "fights" about who's turn is it to go to the tv and switch the channel.
And when we watched some kind of game on tv we also had that kind of bets who's gonna win.
Once we had a bet about who's going to win and the one who guessed the winner right mum made up some award. Sometimes my mum tricked me. If I guessed the winner correctly my mum said that the award was to wash the dishes. =D
But when I was a kid we didn't watch tv so much. We played with the boys who lived in the neighbour (and to whom I had a little tiny crush on...typical =D).
I remember that in summer I used to sleep in a tent with my sister in our backyard for couple nights. And it was so exiting!
But then we got a playstation (well, in that time there wasn't yet playstations, but that kind of game-thingy) and computer and then we just sat inside. And then I got my very own computer and later I got my own tv in my room.
Oh those times when I was a kid... I'm kind of glad that I was a little kid in the late 80's and early 90's because if I would be a little child nowadays.. Well, I can't explain it.. Nowadays there's all those videogames, computergames and all kinds of digital stuff available more than then when I was little. So if I would be a kid now I would have born to this digital era. Because I'm older I know that time when there wasn't anything this digital stuff.
That's so cute picture of you. =)
Oh my god how long comment I wrote.. sorry =)
Omggg!!!! Anette!! *-* I cant get over how adorable u where!! omg!!!!!!!!!!!! You were soooo cuuuuuute! and still are!! :D:D:D *Hugs* Awwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete^^ hehe sounds like you were a great child =D

ReplyDeleteYou were very beautiful as kid, Anette :D
PS. When you and Nightwish come to Poland? We`re waiting for you :D:)
I miss the time when i was a child...
ReplyDeleteWhen we were children, all the things were new and beautiful, and this feeling was really good...
"The children find everything in the nothing, the men find the nothing in the everything."
- Giacomo Leopardi
Its true...
Talking about the smoke, i am so fortunate and grateful that my father has stopped smoking before i was born, i still thanks him. Smoke is a curse.
Well, good night and sleep well Anette :=)
P.S: What a wonderful girl you are in this pic ^^
Good Morning my angel!
ReplyDeleteI remember too, and was so special. I grew up in a farm and my toys was the nature! I played climbing in the trees, I adored swiming in rivers around my house, in waterfalls, climbing the mountains, played with cows, horses, fishing and everything.
My family was so poor and I never dreamed with all this tecnology that we have around us today!
But I love it, becouse now we can be closer of the people that we love, even being so far away. Like you are from us... And you know how the brazilians loves you! And how special you are for our lifes!
I love all things that you wrote in this post, and I agree with everything.
Kisses my angel. And have a wonderful day!
hello Anette, how are you doing?
ReplyDeleteI loved your picture, you were so cute :D
I agree with you when you talked about cigars. I remember that when I was a child there was "chocolate cigarretes" and now I'm scared about that.... It was a box with cigar shaped chocolates with a picture of a boy holding one exactly how a person holds a cigar between his fingers. What a bad example for children at that time. Fortunately it doesn't exist anymore.
It's so good to be a kid again, when Alice - my six-year cousin comes to visit me I become a child again and we play a lot, it's very funny! she is so smart and sweet... and she is your fan too :) It's not my influence... well.... Alice likes your clothes.
Remember our childhoods is wonderful, we cannot forget it.
Bye
ahahahaa
ReplyDeleteI was a really shy little girl... always next to my mom or sister... I was never alone...
hehehehe
really nice to read from you anette, regards from chile :P (come back!)
oh, what a sweet little girl!!!! ^_____^
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful that you have a child in your soul and heart, because being a child itself is a gift, and the happiest people are of course a bit childish ;))))
I wish you to keep this feeling forever, even though sometimes it's hard - but it is worth so!!!
hugs ^_^
That was great =D
ReplyDeleteAnd you made my day when I pictured Marco on the teacups.
Awww, this was a very nice post.
ReplyDeleteI remember the days of playing outside until it was past dark, walking to the ice-cream store, and just having a great time with my childhood friends. I miss that!
It's funny that you mentioned your Disney trip. I just turned 25 this past Saturday, and where was I? Disney World!
Sometimes I think a lot of us are still kids at heart. =)
Dear Anette,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all: thank you for sharing a bit of your, for what it seemed, great trip to Liseberg. Seems like a place I should visit one day, with all the great attractions they have. Congratulations on your prize! Which girl would not like to win such a huge box of chocolate? ;-) And about your "little Nettan" picture: very cute. I can see her in you. Now, there are some things I was thinking about when reading this blog entry that I would like to share with you.
Over the last 50 to 100 years, both technology and society have changed a lot. Especially in the western countries. It is generally all about yourself, having more and being better than everyone else. Sure, not for everyone, but for the majority of people it is like that. Back in the 1960s, little kids were sent out of the room when the adults were going to watch the news on the one and only channel on television that existed at the time. Nowadays we have hundreds of different channels and probably thousands of different things to watch on those channels. Nowadays children see a lot hatred, violation and even sexual stuff by watching cartoons. How come this has changed so much in such a short period of time, given the fact that this world is millions of years old already? And how can all the mentioned things be possibly good for children's growth? Sure, they get to see how certain things can work out in real life and what may and may not happen, but they are also basically taught how to do it themselves. Especially the very young ones among us think that what they see is normal. Like for example if they have parents who walk around the house completely naked, it is considered normal to them, while many others will consider it different, strange or perhaps even unexceptable. A cartoon can be a superhero for a child. Something they look up to and would like to be or be friends with.
Then there are plenty of violent video games, like Grand Theft Auto for example. Games that raises one's anger when playing it. In this game, you can easily beat people up, kill them, steal their car, earn lots of money through gambling and a lot more that in real life is either punishable or unhealthy in many different ways. Once again we have people willing to be a certain character from a certain game. Like for example Lara Croft. And they are only fictional characters. Funny thing to know is that years ago it all started really innocent with addictive games like Pong.
How come so many people suffer from low self-esteem? How come they all would like to be someone or something they are not? Personally, I think that most of it has to do with the media. It can make and it can break people. It has most effect on the younger ones like children and teens, but also adults and elder can become victims of the media. They show us beautiful men and women and (indirectly?) push the common people to become like that, while they forget to mention that those beauties are photoshopped and just as common and flawed as we are. It does negatively inspire people to change themselves. Some undergo surgery or starve themselves to become this flawless person, but they will never be that person, because this perfection they try to make us believe in is nothing more than a hoax. And even if someone ends up pretty close to their example, they can start all over again as they will still not be good enough in the eyes of others. People will still feel unexcepted for who and for what they are.
(part 1 of 2)
Only years ago, one's capabilities mattered more than this piece of paper we call a certificate or a diploma. If you were, for example, really good with technical stuff but had not finished school, you could still get a job. Nowadays, it is all about being highly educated and owning this piece of paper. Why is it suddenly so important that all of us, men and women, have a great career? Why do those who did not finish school for whatever reason and those who do not have "the perfect job" seem to be abandoned by those who have? What are they that the others are not? All right, they might have had better education, but does this make them a better person? Usually, as I have seen around me, the people who are working very hard to pay the bills are much more generous than those who earn a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for all those technological stuff and gadgets like computers, cell phones, iPods, PSP's, compact digital cameras and so much more: we are really spoilt. At the beginning it is all new and great, but very soon it becomes normal and boring and the complaining begins about wanting it better and bigger and stuff like that. It was not there a few years ago, but it is now and the younger ones grow up with it and most of them take it all for granted. It is great fun and I cannot think of a life without my computer, cell phone, iPod, PSP or compact digital camera, but it has some dangerous side effects as well. When I was a young girl I played outside with other kids, like you and so many others did. Then around the age of eight or nine it all began to change. I stayed at home, being on the computer and began building a social network online. That is fun, because I got to meet people from all over the world. Of course not at the very beginning, as I only spoke Dutch and no other language, but when I began learning other languages, I got to meet more and more people. It is very different to have friends who live so far away from you, though. It is not very likely that I, as a Dutch person, will see my friends from the United States every week. But in real life, you get to see the people around you less and eventually become sort of isolated. Especially now that there are so many stores where you can order clothes and even groceries online to have them delivered to your home. That is great, but in a way dangerous.
So all the changes can be so much fun, but at some point they can be pretty hard as well. I cannot imagine what life would be like for my own children in the future, but I guess that will be even "crazier" than this. And yes, it is great fun to feel young and innocent again for a few hours. Life seems so troublefree and those little things can make you all excited and so on. Wonderful. Anyway, I think I am using too many words to express some of my thoughts right now. Even though I like to say: "I never end my sentence with a full stop, but always with a comma as I simply never stop talking." ;-) It is just that I sometimes try really hard to understand the universe and everything in it, but always end up not understanding and full of questions.
All right, I will stop here (for now). Have a great day without an aching body or migraine!
Yours,
Lisa

Hi Nettan, your photo is so pretty. You are still exactly the same now! your eyes, face, and hair haven't changed anything!
ReplyDeletehugs from são paulo
I think it's so important to nurture that inner child. It's a lesson I learned several years ago, around the age of 30. Although I wouldn't go back for all the money in the world, as an adult I've had to learn to love that little girl I once was so that I can heal as an adult. I actually have a picture of myself as a child in a frame with my other family photos, so I can remind myself when I need to of what I once was...
ReplyDeleteNice thoughtful post, Anette! Thank you!
Well that's an intersting subject!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I don't really know exactly how those times were,I mean I'm only 13,and I still conssider myself a child,I am a very childish person and I enjoy my ife as much as possible:)
But I think the "old"generation was better, healthier because there where no computers, and kids often played outside, they were enjoying their lives =).Yes,computer is useful and fun but we shall also go outside and admiring nature as much as possible, and remember our childhood memories ;)
Aww,little Nettan was so cute, like a porcelain doll! Now,she is a wonderful and strong woman,a role-model to all her fans!
Hugs And Kisses,
Cris xxx
Hey, nice picture... :)
ReplyDeleteDunno why, but when I read what ur blogging here, I almost hear the voice of Bjork. You know, it's like those stories told. :)
Good morning, Nettie!
ReplyDeleteI love everything you said on this post. Even in my age(16), I can see how many things are being changed by aging. I too try to keep as much innocence I can, because as we all know, innocence -these days- is stolen from us at a too young age. That's why I think being childish here and there is not bad at all.
Love,
Dimitris
Oh and by the way, you look so cute in that photo of yours. I can tell that it's you. =D
ReplyDeleteAww... this post made me smile and feel all warm -- you could've described my own childhood! :) (well, hardly a surprise when we're about the same age ;)) The only difference being that I didn't have much friends when I was little, I was a "lonely wolf" who loved to read books, write stories, paint and draw pictures, wander in the nature watching birds and animals... :) But, it's so true that even if you don't have much money, no fancy toys or "fashionable" hobbies you can live a rich, full, happy childhood -- it's all about the loving, encouraging family atmosphere!
ReplyDeleteAnd, "keeping your inner child alive" -- it's funny (or _sad_, actually) how many of my friends think going to rock festivals and gigs is "childish" in this age! "Aren't those happenings more for teenagers?" Whatta heck -- I don't ever want to grow that "adult" that even having fun is considered "childish"! O__O
That's a great baby picture of you -- you look so determined and serious but it's cute! ;)
See you in Olavinlinna -- a miracle happened and a ticket should be on the way :) I'm very excited and curious about that gig, the milieu is so special... :)
Anette as a little girl You were so sweet :* And that's very kind of You that You told us about Your childhood
ReplyDeleteHugs and love!
I sure do remember. And even though Im 10 years younger than you Anette I remember my childhood as quite similar with yours! Even with all the smoke.. :P
ReplyDeleteWe didnt have so much money either when I was growing up, but I appreciated smaller things in life back then.. =)
This was a great post..I think its very important to remember the childhood from time to time, and be a kid sometimes.
And Katrin I loved your post as well!! And Im proud to be born before 1985!!! haha =)
Hugs from Finland! -Karoliina
Hi Anette. I know Im boring to you but I really like you(dont worry, im not some kind of psycho :))Im 14 and im tottally understand what you are talkin about. Im young but i really miss old days when i was 7,8,9,10 years old. I was playing outside whole days(when there was weekends and school was out). We were playing hide and seek, little frogs etc. Nowadays Im on Internet and only going out with my friends, or when its warm and children are in park I play with them. I was enjoying in NW concert in Zagreb, Croatia and i was in 1st row(cought Tuomass towel) and later i took pics with the band and you. just click on my profile here and see photo . Maybe You can remember me. Im the guy who told you "I love Nightwish" on Svenska. Btw. u are cute on that photo. Kisess and hep heps from Croatia!!
ReplyDeleteAww that's a cute picture :) Thanks for sharing it with us :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the kids, now they are just inside. But on the other hand, now there is tv, they can also learn a lot of things by good tv shows (ofcourse there are also the bad things like all the violence and sex on tv...)
But I think both "times" have their own good and bad things.
I'm happy I'm doing still a lot with my family, when I look around me there are a lot of kids who always have to have a babysitter and now (being 16 or something) still don't do so much with their family, also because their parents don't make any time for them.
I like to be like a child altought some friends of me don't like that xD
I think it's good if everyone still keeps that little kid in her/himself :)
Have a nice day Nettan!
~Night*Star~
well, i miss that time. i miss to stay in the village near the Danube, also i miss my grandparents house, a big one, on the platfor they had a lot of pigeons, 2 big dogs that scarerd my first years of life. i had a synthetic ball, and 4 friens(my best friend was a gypsi and my grandmom told me that he had louses and because of that it's not good to play with him anymore). the best piece was a chineese boom box. it was the only in all the village that looked so cool. the girl that i loved in that times was Andreea( i was 12 and she...17) but she loved another guy(liviu), 17 years old too, ad that guy had a bike...omg i was so sad when when i saw the kissing...i met Andreea accidetaly in Bucharest last yeae, she was fat, with 3 kids, with wrinkes, and she was fighting with her husband, sile. and about me...i had long hair and i was listening to bye bye beautiful(must be funnny). i missed that times, a simple wolrd with no problem. i hated at that time but now is just a memory...a ghost in the fog
ReplyDeleteThat is a very beautiful post. :) the games that kids are playing change all the time. i'm 17, but i don't know and recognize the games that they are playing now. :)

*hugs and bunnies*
You have been cute little girl :)
ReplyDelete(and you are cute and beautiful nowadays too)
I sometimes look back childhood too, it would be nice to be child still, forever :)
And I like Disney movies etc. and I would want to go Disney land, surely to Paris someday. Have you been in Disney land in Paris?
When I will go there someday, is it the best to go for some days, for example two days? Or can I see the whole Disneyland in one day properly?
I know Tuomas have been there, he maybe knows that place well, but if you too have been in Paris Disneyland too, maybe you too can tell me :)
But if you have been only in USA Disneyland, it maybe is bigger than in Paris, I think. So if you can see the whole place in one day, maybe Paris one too is possible :)
Hi there :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhh you are so cute of this pic!! so beautifull ^^
I love to go to dysney too and i love to become a child again overthere as well ^^
This world go sooooooooooooooooo fast, once we took the time to live with simply things, now we all running out of time for everything...so pity...
Have a nice evening take care <3
Hey Anette,
ReplyDeletefirst of all: what a cute picture of your young self. Your facial bone structure hasn't changed much I think =)
Secondly: I'm only 18 now (turning 19 in September) so I have lived without computers and with instable internet for quite some years as my parents were never into the "let's have the newest gadgets" thing. I remember the cold and rainy weekends that I sat down in the living room reading three books per day. I remember the sunny midsummer days that I drove my bike, played hide&seek and did so many other things with my then-friends. I remember the winters when I played with lego and playmobil, making up complete stories as for what happened in the town I had built. I remember the first days in spring where I could go outside without wearing a coat, asking my mom of course. I remember that I could run through the streets, playing my favourite TV-series as if I were in them - now I'm stuck to writing fanfics.
Yesterday and today I went into the forest with my mom to make a short 5,5 km walk and we came across lots of bushes with blueberries. Picking the best ones was so relaxing and emptied my mind. Just focus to find the best, most beautiful and most tasty berries. It made me feel somewhat young again. We ate some of them tonight and they were delicious =D
Greetings,
Juliëtte
Dear Anette,
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said about the passive smoking, it's harmful especially for kids and also about how childhood was some time ago!!!
I grew up not so long time ago, I'm 18, and I really have great memories from the time I used to play every day with the kids from the neighbourhood..........because especially in summer I used to stay a lot outside playing!!!
I'm very lucky because I still consider myself a kid and I love to play with my little sisiter and my little cousin (not computer games).........and I still like fairies and Tom & Jerry.
Some people say that it's silly and it's no use to be like that.
Everybody says that I don't look older than 14 or 15 and I would love to stay like this for a long time.
Unfortunatly now I use the computer and the Internet daily and I really try not to overdo it!
A perfect day, especially now when we have summer break, is to be somewhere outside at the swimming pool, in the park or at a picnic with my close friends and play some games we like!!!
I also hope to go to Disneyland very soon because it's an old wish of mine.
Thanks for nice post!
Love,
Herta
P.S: you were such a cute little girl!!! I hope you will have the patience to read all our stories!!!
Hy Anette!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful picture!!!You were really cute!!!=)
Disney Land...oh wow,This is a very interesting place I think...really amusing...although I wasn't there!:)
Good Night Netti!:)
You know, that's one of the things I love about you. Having this little Nettan inside makes you shine a lot more than you already do, is wonderful, makes ou this special person that you are and I admire you for that :)
ReplyDeleteAnd is the same way with the guys also.
And I have my little one inside all the time too, it feels like I have to keep it alive here. Some people think it's silly and embarasing doing it, but I'm lucky my parents have it, most of my friends too, so I don't care what others think!
Hope you continue like this forever!
Hugs and much joy!
Mônica
Though I'm only 18, I read your post and feel regret for the younger generations coming along. I work in a daycare and I look at the kids and think "I wasn't like that!" They want to grow up too fast and it's disturbing to hear a 2 year old singing songs from Flo Rida... what happened to winnie the pooh songs?
ReplyDeleteyour words have truly make me feel happy !!! you are awesome, i know the feeling... and many people forget when they grow up.
ReplyDeleteYou truly are an angel and hope you keep that blessing forever.
When i was little life was completely different as well, but if you give yourself time you realize that the little kid you used to be still is there !!!
God bless you, thank you for making my afternoon happy !!!
Hello Anette
ReplyDeleteThese were really well written beautiful words , watching the world through your son's eyes will make you a more effective mother and you look just tooo adorable in this photo by the way .
Dimitri NWfun
Wow, this picture is so adorable and sweet! So cute! I want go in Disneyland too!
ReplyDeleteI also remember my childhood, it was great. Sometimes I want to be baby all life, I want never grow up, but that is impossible...=)
Take care!
Hugs
I'm totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's good and funny to return child and do things like we have 5 years old :))
The photo is sooo sweeeet! You were and you are adorable <3
Nana
I would like to go to Disneyland, in the best way with you, elder and extremely great people... just to become a child for a while again!!! =(
