Spirit Day: Go Purple on October 19 for #SpiritDay
Spirit Day is annual day in October when millions of Americans wear purple to speak out against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.

ReplyDeletetoday it´s the second time I´m writing on your blog.
Reading it regularly and I´m happy you continued to write it. Every morning I read a few internet pages (news, gossip, etc.) and also your blog, so I would have missed it, if you had stopped writing here .
I think it´s great what you are doing about that bullying problem. We need to drive attention to that topic.
BUT, I´m a little bit surprised that you are acting like the last few years have never happened.
Whatever went wrong between you guys, you should not forget that this was your dream (I guess) and back then you did everything to join Nightwish and now you are talking about them as if it had been a punishment and sacrifice for you to be with them for the time being. Like you said in an interview back then, you were stubborn and did and tried everything to make it in the band, you would have no problem with touring etc…., and while reading your blog the last few months, I have to say almost everything regarding the band sounded like a big complaint and really ungrateful.
I see why you are focussing on bullying so much because you got a lot of it and I´m sure it´s not easy for you to see how so many fans are acting so enthusiastic about Floor nowadays.
Or you don´t give a s**t (sorry) about it at all – I really don´t know…
All I want to say is that you should be more appreciative about that chance (joining Nightwish) you got in life. It made you a household name and it got you your fanbase here on this blog and for sure other benefits in your life.
Maybe it wasn´t a good decision to pick you for the band, you could have spared yourself a lot of haters (who you have never deserved) and the band should have just stayed true to their musical roots. You and the guys weren´t a match made in music heaven in my opinion but you tried to find your way together. Anyway, I hope you and the guys see the good times you had and take these years as a learning experience.
And I hope you understand my comment as a serious opinion and not as hating or complaining. Just my thoughts…

I definitely don't want to trigger off any NW-discussion here, because after all this is Anette's blog (so Anette, if you just read my comment but don't publish it, that's fine with me ;=) but I just wanted to say this:
DeleteI've been following NW for over 10 years so I've seen both musical sides of them.
Whether you liked Tarja's or Anette's style and way of singing better is a question of personal taste (although with me, it's always been you, Anette ;=) but what mattered most is that for me, it was not until Anette came that I felt NW did not only make great music, but had finally gotten a heart. It was due to Anette's warm, loving personality that I finally felt connected to NW not just on a musical but also on a personal level. And with Anette gone, NW will never have this same feeling for me again.
But I will continue having this feeling here on this blog with Anette and later on with Anette's own music (which I'm really looking forward to ;=).
What did or did not happen between Anette and the guys is really none of our business and we should respect their decision to keep certain things to themselves (after all, they have every right to do so - there is always a person behind the artist!).
Sorry, but I just had to put my two cents in here. ;=)

Sabine, I agree in everything and I admit I've cried a bit with your words. That's really it. Although I would like to know what really happened, I understand this is a thing both sides want to be away and avoid speaking, because the midia always makes it bigger... But we can still hear from Anette on here, so I'm really grateful that she didn't disappear or anything, even if not talking about everything, but mostly showing that she's still alive and we all are, so the show must go on. I've the opinion that you gotta keep the past on the past. It's already there, in anyway, and cannot be changed. Take care about the present, so the future will be always better! ;)

ReplyDeleteAnette--wow--I live in the US and I didn't know about Spirit Day! My best friend in the whole world is a gay man and I will proudly wear purple for him. I love him with all my heart and hate that he was bullied as a child for being gay.

About parting with Nightwish--you are absolutely right--this professional matter is between you and the boys and it's nobody else's business. We don't need an explanation. We had five wonderful years with you and when you pursue your solo album we will have many more.

ReplyDeleteToday I want to tell you some very bad occurrence, which touched me so deeply. It´s very hard to write this for me, but I think that it´s important that many people know this, because in my opinion it´s also a kind of BULLYING.
It happened not at school or in work, it happened at a doctor. Another reason for writing this is because I want to remind all GIRLS and WOMAN of a very important issue - BREAST CANCER. On 22nd October 2012 is the official PINK RIBBON DAY (www.pinkribbon.com). So please remember to go periodically for a check-up to your gynecologist because early detection is the best PROTECTION!!!
My mum contracted with breast cancer two years ago. She has two operations and it was not possible to save her right breast. Afterwards she got so many treatments like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormonotherapy and antibody therapy. The adverse effects are extremely and it´s so hard for me and my family to see her suffering every day. The medical conditions are not only physical but also emotional - for her and our complete family. Yesterday she has to go to a public medical doctor to get sick benefit again, because it´s not possible for her to go to work because of her strong aches and pains. The woman, who examined my mum, was such a cruel and dead heart person. First she played the disease and all adverse effects down, and then she told my mum that she is just to lazy to go to work. My mum has so many reports of other doctors and she is doing everything to reduce her pains but there is rarely no abatement. After the talk the examination followed. My mum told me that is was so hard for her to undress herself for this mean doctor and show her the big cicatrice of her breast ablation. She felt like an animal while the doctor and an assistant watched her from top to toe and measured nearly everything of her body. But the worst thing was that the doctor and the assistant said very invidious things about my mum and her body while she was nearly completely naked. Afterwards there was an examination on a couch. After finishing my mum was not able to sit up alone and she asked the doctor and her assistant to help her. Both looked at each other and said no, she has to sit up alone. My mum asked again, and both said “no” while they watched my helpless mum. After five efforts my mum was able to sit up alone. After that my mum left the doctor´s office. She cried the whole day.
I can´t understand how people especially doctors, whose job is to help people, can say and do such terrible things. My mum said to me she felt like a pig which is checked by a butcher. She didn´t felt like a human person.
We all have to STOP BULLYING because we´re all human persons and it should be naturally to help and respect each other. I´m very sorry but I have to end this story now, because it hurts too much for me. Please help to stop BULLYING and also BREAST CANCER!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm what they call a Pansexual, what basically means I would love someone regardless of their gender (even if they have no gender!) And the amount of times I've been told:
"Oh you would do everyone around you!"
"You can't love everyone, it's either boy or girl!"
"You're so greedy!"
etc etc etc...
Ignorance like that makes me want to punch my wall in. What's wrong with loving someone regardless of their gender? I will definitely be wearing purple tomorrow! (even though I live in the UK XD)

For tomorrow I can only wear a purple nail polish and flash my purple notebook at the library - but I will make sure to do that :)

ReplyDeleteThis means so much to me.I really can't even explain it.I'm so happy you're supporting this project,I just--wow.People supporting pro-LGBT idea always make me feel all warm inside,but seeing that the person I look up to the most does,too,it's just an overwhelming feeling.
I live in a very small town,so being gay is something that's considered 'unnatural',and everytime I notice that someone thinks it's completely okay to not be straight,I simply get shocked in a good way.It's a common misconception that,merely because a few movies have a stereotypical gay character,homophobia is over,and gay people are treated the same as straight ones.It might be true for some biggest Countries,but from personal experience I know that that's not reality everywhere.
As a part of the queer community,I thank you from the depths of my heart.We need more and more persons to speak about our community,and I'm truly happy you're doing that.I wish sexuality wasn't seen as a problem,and I wish we could be free to love without being labelled,hated,discriminated,laughed at.I hope one day this whole situation will sound ridiculous,just like it happened with black people.We're all the same and we're all equal.We should be free to love,express ourselves,dress,talk,think,work as we want to,as long as that doesn't hurt anyone else.
Of course I'll wear purple,but since it's a US project,it's not very known here,so it'll probably just look like I've chosen a random shirt.I wish I didn't like in such a close-minded Country,people then would see the meaning that hides beyond the colour of my tee.

ReplyDeleteI think that tolerance and equal rights are very important, but honestly, GLAAD - is an organization consisted of swines, really. They are everywhere, very often they say about gays' humiliation when sexual orientation does not matter at all!
When gay man is fired, they say that HE IS GAY!!!! WHAT AN INTOLERANCE!!!!
To make everything right - I have nothing against homosexuality, they are the same people as we are, but this organization's methods are pissing me off.

ReplyDeleteDo you have gay pride parade in Sweden? We have a "pride week" once a year in Helsinki. There's lots of happenings around the city and especially in gay bars. In the beginning of the week there's a parade where gay people (and there's straights too!) are walking together a designated route. Unfortunately twice some activists or just stupid people have done some attacks to the pride parade, for example setting free tear gas, some other poisons and throwing some items towards people who are prouf of their difference. :( The youngest one of the victims was 1 year old...

Eternal Dawn: Oh my God! Thats just so horrible and I get extra angry since these two are supposed to take care of others. A doctor is there to help and not judge the patient and the nurse too. I know there are people working in the health care who are mean and maybe they have become that due to them not liking their job or, as I believe, have gotten so "cold" to others situation. Like they have distanced themselves so much that they have gotten cold and mean. I just wish they could understand they should seek another job!
