Just want to say thank you...
...to all of you wonderful people who have written me so kind and warming words today. I have cried reading them and believe me, I will be back again, but I need a little time out before I decide how and where I will blog or show myself again;=) I don't know if it will be this blog or a brand new one but I will let you know, I promise!

I just wanted to tell you that the first concert I went to was the Nightwish NYC concert just a few weeks ago. I broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years the day before so I had to go alone. I had such an amazing time and hearing you sing made me forget about my problems for just that one night :). I said to myself I will come to every Nightwish show in NYC that follows, but without you in them, I don't know if I want to anymore :(. Thank you so much for that spectacular show and thank you so much for always keeping in contact with us through your blog for all these years. We are all Nightwish fans, but we come here to hear about YOU and your life and career. I wish you all the best :).

I have cried since I read it , you Were are and always will be my inspiration , when something bad happen to me I think about how strong you are and all my fears dissapear ... This is so great to hear you might continue your blogging to us! I would be lying if I said I haven't been devastated by today's news. You have affected my life so positively and I really hope your decision to leave the band makes you happier. It would make me feel better to know that, because I can't figure out how to feel about the boys of NW not knowing if theywere mean to you, which hurts to think about.

Anette I am deeply saddened by this news :( I had bought my VIP tickets for the Anaheim show in 4 days. I will be traveling from Las Vegas since I missed you last time you came. I cried and i am still crying now. I was looking forward to hear you sing! especially "Scaretale" you are my hero nettie! thank you for showing me not to give up even if the storm is rough. I am still in shock, but I rather have you healthy and happy with your family than sick and hurting. I will never forget you my angel of music. Dear Anette, I was so shocked today when I heard the news. It was something I truly wasn´t expecting. I fell in love with your voice and your overall work and presence in Nightwish. You truly made a name on your own and made your own style fit with the band. I really really will miss you and I respect you a lot for having been so brave during this whole time. I understand that now things will change. All things in life change...so all I can say is I wish you blessings and good luck in everything you do. I will really miss seeing you with the band but I´m sure all things in life make us better people. Stay strong and don´t get lost!! ;) Lots of us out there love your voice after all :)

You wonderfull voice touch me a lot.In dark moments, i felt better with you. You teach me to follow my dreams, even when everyone around say the oposite.. Im a Graphic Designer, and when I was finishing my studies, a lot of classmates was agains me, because was gioven for me a job for a teacher. I trough about leave the course, for the bullying, but you teach me for be strong, for be happy for what I am... In teh end, i done one of teh best final projects, and my school gave me a travel to study english for one month in San Francisco, that was THE BEST MONTH IN MY LIFE. And when i was crossing Golden gate bridge, I remember about what I learned with you...

Your charisma, your youth and your music style I like a lot of you dear Anette, especially when every concert motivate people saying "OK hep, hep, hep" or when you dance singing Storytime. Still I can not hide my shame but I know I'll see you sing and do life more joyful with your art. Do not forget to send news to hear your new songs.

You were the one who made me a Nightwish fan and you, together with the guys, changed my life so radically back in 2007 when I heard Dark Passion Play. I am very thankful to all of you for the beautiful music and for the masterpiece that was Imaginaerum, the best album I've ever heard. I wish I knew more about what happened, but that's none of my concern. As more than a fan, as an admirer of your talent, courage and heart, I am deeply saddened that this has happened to my favorite band. You'll be greatly missed and at the same time, I feel like I'm in debt with you for opening my mind and being such an imoportant part of life in the past 5 years even though I never met you before. I was planning to watch your concert later this year but things happen for a reason. I'm just sorry that they had to happen this way. I truly wish all the best for all five of you, and if it was really for the better and in common agreement, I support your decision. I won't give on Nightwish just like I wouldn't have liked people to do when Tarja left, but I also truly hope to still listen to new works from you in the future if you still feel like doing it after taking your time. ReplyDeleteNettie, I REALLY know and understand what is on your head right now cos some weeks ago something similar happened to me, I realise that on a really I was treated like an object, not being loved the way I used to think and what I done? "Gave up" on my dream just like you did but on my case, was on a romantic relationship, not professional as yours but think its almost the same, cos we cannot stand in a place we are and feel not being respected on the way we deserve. I back home and to my same old life and to be honest? That was the best thing I did in my whole life! Must admit that felt like dying at the first days but when I leave, all my troubles seemed sooooooooo far away and I'm rebuilding my life here in Brasil with my dear mom, friends and family cos they YES love me the same way as I do and can trust on them. =D

Through all these years, I've learned to love Anette the singer, and to respect the sheer passion she somehow transferred to her renditions, but I've also learned to regard Anette the human being as an example of positivity and hard work. Thank you Anette for your amazing vocals and for the time that you spent in one of my favourite bands. You are an amazing person and I just wanted to say thank you for everything that you have done. Earlier on this year, I very seriously attempted suicide in which I died, was saved by the medics and spent a few days in intensive care. The next few months for me were spent in a ward at a Psychiatric Hospital. Your music is one of the things that helps me getting better. Your work in Nightwish is what I listen to every single day. I just wanted to say thank you for all the hope you have given me

NW is one off my favorite bands from their first cd to the last and probably continue to be but they are truly loosing someone special by loosing you. I couldn't meet you in 2008 when Nightwish came to México, so i always waited for a concert, after anounced Nightwish back to México, I was happy, so, so happy, finally can meet my favorite band, the most powerful singer, But now my hope breaks into pieces, you and Nightwish broke that, i'm not angry for this, i'm sad cause i never will ear you voice in this concert.

I've been struggling to sleep all night because of the news (it's 5:18am!) and I've been crying non-stop since I heard the news. But this has cheered me up slightly, knowing that you do care about us fans. Not that I doubted you, of course!

Anette, we non-famous people without any public presence might not be able to fully understand what it must be like for you to go through a situation like this, but we do know that it takes a lot of strength and courage and an extraordinary personality to make such a difficult decision as you have and to follow through with it.

Anette, really! Today October 2nd, you earned my respect. Because you had a correct posture. What was done to you was unprofessional. I know that you have a contract clause to follow and can not speak much for the fans, but I'm sure you agree that during those five years, you endured too much and in the end, was not respected. I confess that I spent those five years not hearing more Nightwish. Not for you. Because I know that you will shine away from band well with Tarja is shining. But few fans who don't always understand the smiles, songs, shows, live person. You must feel like 7 years ago Tarja was wronged. Many feel that ... But not everyone thinks what you want. Follow Tarja since and am real fan of hers for over 10 years. I love what she does. The know in person and know that yes, she won. Just as you believe in your style, your voice, you can sing with real soul and no longer have to keep trying to leave Nightwish in accesses a flame that is off for many years. I honestly lost my love for Nightwish. Why not sounds more like a "feeling of poet" but as "capitalism musical." And so, his attitude, only proved that you are well. You got upset, rightly so. Because what they did was disrespectful to you. But know that while you can't speak, we know the truth. So here is one who writes Shopaholic Tarja who supported his attitude and is against the injustice done to you. But surely know that one day the ego of a person "individualistic, selfish" will be unmasked. Good luck in the next round!!

ReplyDeleteI just want to say my wife and I just love you. Its so clear to see the wonderful person you are inside and though we respect you decision we jate to see you leave. It was only a week ago we were so excited to see our favorite band in the world (you made it that way by the way) for our 8 year wedding aniversery, what better way to celebrate... it just so happend you showed here on a night that we had some of there worst electrical storms of the season here in St. Louis... I know thunder scares you but we had a night we will never forget. Before the show we were stuck out in the car waiting for the doors to open when the storm front passed and lightening hit a tranformer nerby lighting up the entire sky and we thought for a moment a power outage would kill the show for sure... thank goodness it didnt cause we got the see you one last time with nightwish and you were all so wonderful...
You will be greatly missed, Thank you so much for blessing us with your angelic voice and inspireing so much love for life ... Please do take care of your self and your family... Take time for your self and your childern. But dont disappear too long because you still have to keep convicing the world angels do exist....

I must say I had hoped for more releases with you on lead vocals, so it's really sad you aren't going to continue with Nightwish but I surely hope to hear your voice again on solo albums. I also hope you'll be there for the film premiere and concert at Hartwall in November so that all of your fans could have a chance for a magnificent farewell gig.

I remember introducing the band to a friend of mine that time and he immediately fell in love with your voice. Not only did you bring old fans back to the band but also brought so many new ones. Anette, I'm deeply sorry this happened and actually felt so sad about this. I totally understand how it feels to try to be at your best but your body won't let you. I was expecting you to come to Puerto Rico in December and unfortunately this tragedy happened. I was so eager to see you live. I always found your voice very special and endearing. All of us here in Puerto Rico were waiting for you anxiously to finally meet you and sing for us. But, the important thing is that you are happy, I wish you a speedy recovery and please come back as soon as possible with an awesome solo album or something (or anything!). ReplyDeleteAs much as I still feel disappointed and sad, I have to say things feel a bit easier now.
Today, the announcement of the split was stuck in my head all the time, I was in shock and I couldn't believe what happened. At first I felt sad, angry, disillusioned, all at the same time. To even think that I was only a couple of months away from seeing you in my country, only made me feel worse.
I remembered all the wonderful things I've gone through these 5 years with your voice there, and it somehow made me feel better. Five years sounds easy to say but it's not, and that's why I feel so nostalgic.
As I said in previous posts, Nightwish means a lot to me, and I think you are irreplaceable.
It saddens me so much that the only time I saw you live was in 2008. I was so very much looking forward to seeing you again in November.
Right now, I only wish I could HUG you and tell you in person how THANKFUL I am for being such a huge part of my life during all this time. With tears in my eyes I now must say goodbye to one of the people I admired more in the last years, and probably in my whole life: YOU.
Life is full of wonders, though, and I haven't lost hope just yet. I still dream of the day when I can meet you and tell you face to face how much I appreciate you.
I have a thousand more things I would like to tell you, but I'm still a emotionally confused and don't know where to start.
I truly hope you don't quit blogging; we never followed you just because you were the singer of Nightwish, but because we love and admire the warm, charming, beautiful and gifted person that you are.

Nettie, never forget how much you are loved. I would say that I wish I'd stayed longer after the SLC show to see you... But you needed your rest. So, even though I did not get to say goodbye, I am glad you had those few minutes I would have taken. I've met you many times, and I hold very dear memories of that. You are a bright and shining soul, and I am so very grateful to have been around you these years.
ReplyDeleteI want to mention the signs we made in Denver. I left them with the merch girls in SLC. We were swarmed after the Denver show with people wanting to write and wish you well. We drove from Denver to SLC straight through the night and morning to get them to you. I hope you've gotten them and can see just how many people from that show had you in their hearts.
There are people in this world who love you Nettie. So many people. And we don't just love you because of Nightwish. Sure, being in Nightwish is how most of us found you. But your personality and your talent do not stop being important just because you have left the band. You are you. And that is why you are loved.
I wish you the very best with your various medical complications. I hope against hope that everything will turn out well with no tragedies to weather. You're strong Nettie, and we have faith in you. You can pull through this. <3
I think we can all understand the need to take some time to figure out your life. Nightwish and the boys have been a huge part of your world for some time now. Anette, I got really drunk when I knew you were out of Nightwish, so, I don't know if my English is gonna sound right. But I just wanna say that you made a huge difference in my life. You showed me that lots of people can hate us for ridiculous reasons, but the few people that love you is all that matters. You have a enormous self steem and you teached me how to have a little one, even after all passed through in all my life. You're a godness example to me. Please, don't throw this away. I love you, Anette. God knows I do. Try to solve your things. And take your time, don't be precipitate. We will wait all the time that is necessary for you to solve all the things.

Dearest, remember that the most important person in the world is YOU. Do not do anything because OTHERS want you to, do not feel forced or "responsible" to do anything only to help others feel better, if it makes you feel bad. I say this regarding the blog and everything else. If you feel like continuing writing in it makes you uncomfortable, then stop for a while; I'm sure we'll all understand. Or, on the contrary, if you find joy in sharing pieces of your life with us, do it, we will still have a good time reading it. I must admit that for me personally this blog wasn't about Anette the singer in Nightwish solely, but first of all, Anette the happy woman, the strong heart, Anette who would sometimes give us advice about life and talk to us about goodness and justice and beauty in life, or Anette, the girl who was excited when she got herself some new items and goodies and wanted to share it with us. The internet is full of information about Nightwish and their activity. There are setlists, there are pictures, there are videos. But there's no one able to describe a SOUL and the life of a human being, other than that person herself.

And if your wish right now is being with your family, your loved ones, in the intimacy of your home, then do it, or if it's some new endeavours in music, an album that would contain those two lovely tracks that you shared once, then do that. Just do what makes YOU happy. And smile always, because the world would be a gloomier place without your smile.

This is my first comment here though I've been here to read in the past. I have to say... I am shocked. I became a fan of NW in 2008 and was introduced to both eras at the same time, so I missed out on the original singers departure, but it seems so surreal that it's happening again...

I listened to a few of the songs you were featured on with The Rasmus and PAIN and they are incredible. It doesn't matter what band you are with, all that matters is that you continue to sing; singing is a god-given gift, and you have it! First to say i'm sad to hear the news that you'll no longer sing with nightwish. You brought different shades to metal music and opened up the band closer to the fans then they ever were. YOu inspired with your jazzy aproach and warmth not so common in showbussiness. ReplyDeleteI had my first chance to see you live w/ Nightwish just last week, in Kansas City, Missouri. We drove 7 hours south from the state of Minnesota to see you guys, it meant that much to us to be able to see you live, finally.
I thought the performance was phenomenal - you seemed so joyful and smiley up on stage. Maybe you already weren't feeling good that night, as I think it was the next night you had to go to the hospital? If you were feeling poorly the night of the 27th, you hid it well. I thought it was very nice how you called out and addressed the little boy who was standing at the front of the stage, and thanked the audience for allowing him to come to the front to be able to see better.
I can see why your feelings must have been hurt by NW having Kamelot's gals help them out that night. Because, you were in a hospital in a foreign country, not knowing what was going on with you and probably wishing your family could be there. I guess maybe the rest of NW didn't want to disappoint the fans, but it must have made you feel alone.
Also, it has always bothered me, the mean things that people would say about your being Tarja's replacement. I hope that didn't affect this recent decision too much (I know it's been YEARS now, but people still won't shut up about it!). Over time, and especially with the last album, I've come to prefer your vocals over the previous singer.
I really hope that your health scare is just that, a minor scare. Take some time, relax, spend time with your loved ones. Maybe you can set up an e-mail list to let people know of any new projects of yours in the future, if you choose to not continue blogging (I didn't even realize you HAD a blog until this whole split happened).
None of us know exactly what happened with you guys.... it seems so abrupt, so shocking. I came home from work today, and my husband says, "What's the most surprising thing you could think of that could happen in music?" Told him I didn't know.... then he said that you'd left.

ReplyDeletethese surprising news made me very sad. I have seen you playing live with Nightwish more than 10 times and every concert were always amazing, full of joy and enthusiasm. Every of them gave me so much energy!
But I understand this situation. I know these are not just quick moody decisions to make, and I hope you and Nightwish will be happy to continue own paths.
I just want to say that thank you for all these years during your Nightwish career. You really has shoved me that being in a heavy metal band doesn't mean that you have to wear just black with black or sing in one way - you have made it all with your style and I liked it!

I cried yesterday when I read your blog post and NW's post on Facebook. I'm looking forward for you to come back again with the blog, but don't do it if you don't want it just because we want it. I don't understand one thing: you'll never sing again or this is just temporarily? If not, I will respect your desicion. Just to know, I really love you as a singer and you're a great, beautiful woman. You have two great kids and take care of them as best as you can, because I know you can. It must be difficult to you to leave them 'cause of tour and band things, so I respect your desicion to leave.

I'm happy to hear that you are considering the idea of not closing the blog. I was very worried about it. Of course now the most important thing for you is to get better with your health and to stay with your family. You come first now. But when you'll feel better and ready remember that you have many peoples behind you supporting you!

ReplyDeleteNow I recognize you more;=) We don't care about NW atm, believe us, it's only business atm. But you are a precious human being which gives a lot to people.And whatever you do, no matter what you do, nurse,personal trainer, psychologist, secretary, singer, it seems you are breathing so your mission has not endend in this world;=* You are a christian so you know what we are talking about. And you have showed many times that life it's not only about glittered dresses and shoes, but mostly about a human heart: don't ever close your heart to people that appreciate who you are and dont judge you in the worst moment (you chose to publish an internet image some days ago which says smth like "find a heart that support you when you are at your worst).
Your personality is precious. In case you do it, feel free to open a new blog under the name "Anette Olsson", I really don't care, and I will follow. Also you gathered many clients for whatever job you choose among those you love:=)
Do you see? How many positive things? Do you feel the love of God? God it's not only "the spark that started life", that would be poor explanation. But He's today providing us with our lives. I feel in that way you are "searching for beauty to find your shore" and this is from fans much more appreciated than to deny your inner self and carrying on with , what is often, a trivial show.

I started to love Nightwish even more because of you. You were the kindest side of the band, so sweet and kind towards us fans, always positive, always smiling. Nightwish and fans are losing so much without you, for me it will never be the same.

It took time but finally I really respect you, your job and your universe. I like some songs from Dark Passion Play but Imaginaerum was a very big slap. I have discovered your universe and have thought that the future will be very great. The press statement has shocked me a lot. This is so sad. For the moment, I can't listen to songs from Nightwish. This is so weird. I wish you a lot of love, of supports (you have mine! ;-) ) and a lot of new projects. Please, continue to sing, to give us joy. I think you can continue this blog. You talk on it more about your life and your project than about Nightwish. Keep safe. I hope that you will quickly be cured. You always were strong. All your life. Continue! You are a model for us! Give us your news. I will read them with pleasure.

ReplyDeleteI'm really sad about you leaving the band, and I have to tell you. You know, I've been following Nightwish since the Tarja era, and the band and its music mean a lot to me and have helped me through a lot. I've never been able to see Nightwish live, though. I couldn't make it when Tarja was still in the band, and I really wanted to see them with you, but now it won't be possible anymore either. What I want to say is, I really love you. I loved Tarja as a singer, but what you brought to the band was way more than a voice. I feel these two albums the band released with you are among its best. And you are an amazing human being. So, the thing is, I really didn't want this happening again. Us who have witnessed Tarja's departure and have then met you and loved the new Nightwish, couldn't imagine this happening again. And it's really sad, because we love Nightwish and its members. I don't know what's happened, only you know, and I suppose it must have been a hard decision both for the guys and for you. I understand there must have been reasons and this is for the best. But I can't help being really, really sad. I will miss you so much as a part of Nightwish. I hope you go on with your career, and I hope I can keep following you. But I will miss you in Nightwish.
I just wanted to wish you good luck, health for you and your beloved ones and smiles and tears in your way because both are necessary for life to be complete. I love you!!
Regardless of any drama you are (I hope) incredibly proud of the amazing music you've been a part of - there are many, many people that are grateful (and will continue to be so) for Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum.

I heard your voice for the very first time when I heard you singing Eva. I was totally stunned. Your voice was and still is amazing!
ReplyDeleteFor the first time I heard your voice live was at Turku, in the year 2007. I was surprised how your voice sounded even better live.
I'm sad you left NW, your voice was the one reason I even started to listen NW. But you can do it without the NW boys aswell.
