Ok, I have bought a new car, as you know. So, I have had my old car out for sale for a month now. Its a great car and I love it. I put a price that is a good price and I have checked the internet to see that its ok.
Still I get e-mails from men every day now with frases like: I like your nice car...BUT unfortunately you have the price wrong...
Oh, its so wrong price... bla bla bla...other sellers are much cheaper... etc etc...and with a tone like I am totally stupid! But still they all say that there arent many cars like mine out on sale now.

I am running a car sales mediation and I have a customer who is looking for exactly the kinda car you are selling. You are unfortunately in the wrong price (more than a car company with guarantees).
And another guy sent me 6 emails yesterday just telling me that my car is to expensive for him.... 6 times!!!! WHY do someone take all the time to do something like that??? Why cant he just go after the car in the price range he has money for???
I get so angry!! I answer them: who are you to say that it´s the wrong price??? Isn´t it up to the person selling the item to set the price? I also enclose other adds of the exact same car but some other seller which is so much more expensive to show that I am not stupid, I have checked things..
I know that everyone tries to get the best price of things...but really, do they really think I will sell the car sooooo much cheaper to them just because they say I am in the wrong price range?
No, I am sorry...I wont sell it until the right person comes along that know and value the car...
Sorry, but I just had to blow off some steam before sleep...

What idiots. I dont know anything about cars, but it seems you've looked into it and you know how much you should be selling it for. Guess people are just trying to rip you off.

Sounds a little sexist to me. Can they tell by your ad or email that you are a female? Some men tend to think women know NOTHING about cars and feel free to take advantage. I'm not a man-hater at all, but I have experienced this when I worked in a garage. They see a woman behind the counter and all of a sudden they are all mechanics and car experts...Stick to your guns!

That's really really annoying, but by experience I tell you they are saying that to bother you to the point of lowering your car's price just to make them stop bothering you.
ReplyDeleteI may suggest to add a note to wherever you've announced your car that you will not reduce the price and just ignore the people who keep on telling that, don't give up and sell your car at whatever price you want (hope that's soon)

ReplyDeleteThis is what I have experienced: My car needed to be fixed so I went to get it fixed and this guy there asked me what's wrong with my car. I told him what's wrong and I asked him to fix it but this guy just claimed that there's nothing wrong with my car and he wasn't keen of even checking out it.
Then, after a while, my friend (who is man, by the way) went to get my car fixed to the same place and that guy over there had no problem what-so-ever to fix it...

ReplyDeleteThat would piss me off, too if some idiot tried telling me the cars too pricey. You have EVERY right to sell the car for however much you decide, you are the owner of the vehicle and therefore, the decison of price is ultimatly up to you.
Keep firm with the price(I would)and don't drop it because this person or that person whines about it being too expensive. They just want to screw you over, and will if you allow them :)

It's incredible how people who want advantage of all things. Always have people who think they can find achieve thing from stupid ways (and i thinking it's only in Brazil). I do not know what is your car, and your price, but i doubt that you need to sell your car, for a wrong price, wanting take advantage for this. I belive that most of the offers you have received is due it's current reputation, people think everything should be delivered for free! What this people doing, is a form of pressure to make you sell your car at bargain price, you do not make this with your money, because him does not give in trees... Everything has your price, and these peoples think they can buy things easily and harm people. I wish much luck with your car, and I'm sure you will get a good price on him. Glad the conquest of their new car, here in Brazil this is a great merit, until why there is no brazilian who is not in love with cars. ReplyDeletePersonally, I think they're just trying to get you to lower the price so they can get a cheaper buy, hoping that you're an idiot. They picked the wrong person to try and negotiate with because I'm sure you did your research and know what price is acceptable.
Don't worry so much about people who suck like that. Just tell them not to contact you anymore if they don't like the price and advise them to look at something within their price range instead because you aren't budging.

ReplyDeleteyes these things can really bring you down sometimes, but try not to let these people get to you. I think they just try to get a bargain out of it, a better price for a car which they really want. I think that if it is a car they really want they should also pay the asking price. I recently bought a house I really wanted, perfect location, garden etc. and I paid more than I usually would, just because I wanted it so bad.
And if all else fails you could always publicly auction your car through e-bay and sell it to the highest bidder. Exploit the fact that it was YOUR car, I'm sure there are plenty of Nightwish fans who would want to buy your car. And everything that you earn that goes over your initial asking price could be donated to one of the charities you are supporting.
On the other hand, if you really want to sell the car to someone who loves the car for what it is not the fact that it was driven by YOU, then it is worth the wait for the one who recognises its value.
In the meantime, stop answerring mails of those morons, you only get yourself down and they don't care. If they stalk you, block their addresses.

Just yesterday I studied how to check the right price for a car on sale.. and guess what? The rightest way is on the net! So Anette, YOU ARE RIGHT! YEAH!

It sounds like you didn't say on your ad 'or nearest offer.. or willing to negotiate' so they have no right to ask for a lower price. These men are hoping to pull the wool over your eyes. Who knows.. they may be wanting the car so they can then sell it at a higher price themselves and that is why they are pestering you, they may see it as a golden opportunity to make money themselves, but they reconned with the wrong lady!!!

But you're a very very smart woman, so just ignore them, and stick to the price you have decided for your car. You can put a note on the ad saying that you won't lower the price, and just ignore those who complain about it. If they want to waste their time, it's their problem, not yours! =)

Oh, that seems like a pretty annoying situation, but don't worry. I'm sure someone will eventually buy your car with the price you asked for. Anyway, just like you said, everyone tries to make the best purchase in the cheapest way and also, this kind of decisions take quite a while to take. Those people are probably considering your option, but also have other possibilities so they just want you to lower the price so that they can decide easier. Or something.

Even if I buy a DVD set at $80 and try to sell it on Ebay after I've watched it and decide I don't want it anymore for $50 or $40, people probably still won't buy it, even though it's about half of what I paid for it, and basically new! It's frustrating! lol.
