Thanks, info and some thoughts

Hi again,

I have read the comments from the last input yesterday and regarding the new you tube-clip from my old choir, the song is a cover of Faith Hills song There will come a day. Its one of my absolute favourite songs and if you didnt know it, I have been a soloist in some gospel choirs and gospels and big choir arrangements are the best ones I know to sing to.

In Stockholm on august 13, the Suomi Safari show I have told about here a while ago, I will do Nightwish songs and I tell you this: one have NEVER been performed before ever and the other one never ever by me;=) It will of course be a secret until the day the concert is but it will be filmed and we will put it up afterwards and of course I will write here afterwards;=)

About some clothes comments who want me to change:
I thank you for your opinions;=) For those who dont like my clothes or style, I cant say anything more than that I wont change... I love the clothes I wear and I love experimenting. I have always followed my own path and taste about everything and I am proud of being me with all the craziness and weirdnesses I might have. There is always the matter of taste and what I like someone else maybe won´t, but for me, what I think is the one thing that matters. Because I am the one who wears it;=)

I heard a speach today about jealousy and having different talents and being different. I wish everyone could work for accepting that we are all different, with different talents, bodies and taste. Everyone has something they have a talent in and if we all just follow our own ways and dreams and look up to other people for their differencies and great talents and embrase our own talents and gifts, there wont be so much jealousy and mocking people for their differencies.

As a mum, I can see and hear that being different is hard for everyone. As soon as someone doesnt "fit" in to the normal frame or standards, people tease or mock them or insult them. Both in the adult world as well as the childhood world. It´s so important to follow the crowd, be as the rest, not sticking out...

I want to work for people being allowed to be as they are, individuals, following their own paths, whatever that is. Because I think it´s more fun to see the world with many colours and patterns than one whole mass of similarity.

Sleep well everyone!

  1. I completely agree. Everyone has their own tastes in everything. We should all be individuals and do what makes us happy.

Plus I love all your clothes Anette ;) It should be whatever you like and what you're happy in. And you have a very individual style which I love.

Cannot wait for the songs at Suomi Safari!

    All my love and support.

  2. oh dear...

just BRAVO for this post and such an opinion!
and Bravo for You, Nettan, for being Yourself and somehow showing others how good and unique it is to be an individual and not a part of the grey crowd.

You're a very wise woman, I must say. And every day my respect towards You grows more and more and more... is there any limit to it? I think there isn't ;)

Be healthy, have good dreams and sleep well, dear!

  8. A while ago I remember you posting in response to someone saying you were beautiful. You said that you hoped people loved what was inside of you as well. Well, I have to say that this entry proves that you have nothing but inner beauty, Anette. :) A big reason I'm a fan of yours is because you are one of the sweetest, nicest people on the planet. I absolutely admire how you always stay true to yourself no matter what, and let nothing get in the way of that. More people should follow your example!

  9. Thanks everyone, you are all amazing and I thank you for making my evening so bright. You are all wonderful and I wish you all a good night and of course, I send an "angel" to you;=)

  10. All I can say is a thank-you for being honest and for being yourself. I have always been different so have been bullied for that. Now I don't care. I live how I want and dress how I want ;=).
In a way you have helped me :)
you are slightly older than me and you are living your life to the full and enjoying the journey and your a young soul just like me so go girl! and keep up the good work.

If we were all the same then life would be boring indeed. You do and dress as you like :=), just please yourself and your family. At the end of the day it's them that matter not what dress you wear or how your hair looks at a concert, that is just a job.

Take care and the sweetest of dreams and remember to be yourself at the end of the day.

    love and lots of respect

  16. Hi Anette,

    Greetings from Brazil

Your clothes are great. I am eager to see a video of a festival with the participation of you and other members of Nightwish. You were spectacular show in the Lowlands. Continue charismatic as ever.

    Hep, Hep. ;-)

  17. Anette: Thank you for this post. One of the reasons I admire you so much is that you are your own person and make no apologies for being that unique individual you are. You don't take shit and you continually show how strong you are by just being you.

So many girls out there need more role models like this! When I was younger, I certainly wish I had someone who lived who they were with no holds barred because it was very important for me to know I was OK just as I was... Now I'm 35 and have come a long way, but I still love to see strong, empowered women who step out into the world and say "this is me, take it or leave it, but I'm not changing for YOU."

    THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

  19. Hej Anette!
I sincerely wish to thank you for your wonderful, wise post. You're showing that your inner beauty shines as much as your outside beauty ;-) I am so happy not only that you joined NW, but also that the world has now the chance to know such a great woman: if more people were like you, the world would be a much better place to live in. Thank you for your example. And thank you for being yourself: please never ever change, nothing would be better than what you really are :-)
    With much love and respect,
    Elisa

  24. GO ANETTE!!!

I'm really excited for August now, I hope
    that all works wonderfully.

About your clothes, I think that they
are AMAZING! I love your style because it's
    different, and fun, and new.
I think that you should wear what you want
    because you're wearing it.
I'm 16 and even my mum told me that she
understands my style and that as long
as it's not out of control,
to express myself how I want and wear "weird"
clothes if that's what I want.

I also really like what you said
about seeing colours and patterns instead of
    a mass of similarity.

Anyway, it's who you are and if
it makes you happy, why change what doesn't
need to be fixed in your eyes,
    especially if it's something personal?

Anyway, wear the clothes you want
and be who you are, that's why we love you.
    You'll still be my biggest
and most amazing role model ever.

    Hugs and love, Katie T.

  25. Anette, that was very honest and touching :)
I must admit that about 50 % of the time I don't like the outfits you wear on stage , but at the same time I am SO glad that you are wearing them - it shows that you are YOU no matter what other people think , and there is no way anybody should expect or pressure you to be anything different! =)
What the heck is the fun of a world where everything's the same? People were created EACH to be different - and it makes life SO much more interesting ;) Imagine how wild and amazing and free the world would be if everyone was just THEMSELF without worrying about 'fitting in' or being 'normal' It would be SO much more interesting, fulfilling, and FUN! =D
    Love you always Anette,
    - Suzy C. <3
P.S. Thank you for the hints ... now we're all in crazy suspense until August! ;) I REALLY hope that the song that you haven't done before is Wanderlust - it's my favourite you-haven't-done-it one and I would LOVE to hear you sing it :)

I totally agree with you, Anette. We shouldn't have to follow the crowd. Always be yourself and be unique, to a reasonable extent of course (what I mean is that as long as your uniqueness doesn't impede the rights of others lol)

Keep being a model for those who want to express themselves! Stay unique! And it's always fun to see what you'll wear at the concerts =D

  29. Nettan, wear what you feel to is one of the things that i admire in you, and one of the things that caught my atention at fisrt place when i saw your early perfomances on Nightwish =]

I thought "she is so amazing for wearing what se wants, and not being disturbed by the metal audience, that can be so clichê and imature sometimes"

I love you outfits, and i even copy some of then ;D

I must say, you have a great sense of fashion, very avant-gard and well-humored :)

  36. Hello, Anette! I finally got to see Nightwish for the first time in my home in Corpus Christi, Texas. Just wanted to say great show and thanks a million for coming! I hope to see you all again someday! You have a wonderful voice and I enjoy reading your blog! I like how you mentioned in this blog that you will never change your style and that no should be afraid to be different. I really admire that! Anyways, please continue being who you are and don't let anyone tell you any different. Hope you and the rest of the band are doing well, and I can't wait for the next album!

P.S. Do you and the band do some sort of "ritual" before going out on stage?

P.P.S. I love the "hep" "hep" and of course the tiara that you wear during the "Islander."

P.P.S. I love Harry Potter too!

    Love,

Humm, what song could it be?? I immediatelly think about 'Ocean Soul', but there was some kind of agreement to never performe that one live.
What else could it be?? A Dark Passion Play song?? Hummm, probably 'Meadows Of Heaven'!!
Yes/No? I know you can't tell us.. But I least I can try to ask it.. ;)
Most of the time, I get so emotional on that song, it makes me think of my grandma who past away in october last year. :)

  39. I just couldn't agree more with this post! There are always bound to be people who say bad things about your sense of style, looks, body, whatever -- because you're a "public figure" and people seem to think that public figures, "celebrities" are with no feelings, no normal people at all, more like animals in the zoo open for all sorts of criticism and finger-pointing... :(

But, you're a strong person with the right heart and your own style and it shows -- I've been following the career of NW for something like ten years so I remember the "early days" -- I have to say you've brought back (to the band, live atmosphere, the whole "vibe" I mean) something that reminds me of those "old days"... some down-to-earth warmth, "family" feeling... can't find the right words now but maybe you get what I mean ;) Just stay true to yourself, it always gets rewarded in the end :)

(I try to do the same in my own field -- I don't look and act like your typical female scientist and I've gotten stares and talks behind my back because of that but when they see that no matter if I have some tattoos and piercings and may dress a bit "unconventionally", I do my job well, the attitude changes to "you know... it's so great someone has the courage to be "different" in this field too!" So, just follow your own path -- I bet the worst criticizers are just envious ;-) )

Let's hope for nice and warm weathers and have a great Midsummer weekend! ♥

  41. Hi again,

just listened to the cover of Faith Hills song There will come a day. It's so profound and I got goose-bumps. Your voice is so wonderful and together with the choir it's simply fantastic. Thank you for that.
The lyrics are very good too and they makes me thinking about my life, about faith and many other things too.
And I also want to work for people being allowed to be as they are, individuals, following their own paths, whatever that is. Now I go and take part in a demonstration for free education and other things.

  42. Annette,

I saw Nightwish live in Oklahoma City. My first concert. And as strange as it is to say, it touched my heart. Also it gave me a whole new outlook on life. It's bringing tears to my eyes. I've been going through some extreme rough times mainly not loving myself, because of the hurt I've been put through. And reading what you have written about people being individuals made me take a deep breath and re-calculate my whole being. I wish.. Oh how I despretely wish I could look at myself and just be happy. I have this despret desire to over come my inner-wars, as in that I mean all of my memories and thoughts or whatever it may be have consumed my mind, it seems. I'm not intending to try to seem like this creeper teenager fan, I'm simply trying to reach out what I felt like I never could.

Let's build this up to watch it fall.

It's something that has stuck into my mind.

Just reaching out, for some despret enlightenment. I just want to be able to not be in this weird state of mind anymore and go back to the state of mind I once had and embraced. I don't expect you to concentrate on this because it's understandable considering you have many beloved fans. Fans you do deserve. I hope to grow to be as an amazing one woman army as you.

    Just an attempt,
    Lauren

  43. Hi Anette,

    I totally agree with you!
When I was going to school I always been mocked becuase I had and I have (today too) different tastes in music, thoughts and dresses.
I always try to respect the tastes of the people (each other) but anyone at school have respected me.
Only bad words towards me. Only because I haven't followed the masses.
It was 5 years (of High School) of sorrow, pain and desparation.
But in the end, since I have tried to many times to in step with my classmates, excuse for the band word I fuck off all and I have gone for my way. I have tried to in step with my classmates, I was avalaible to have a relation but my classmates have deliberately ignored my signals and I have decided to surrunder and go for my way.

Hope that my story won't annoy you but I would my experience too

  45. Good post, Anette!

Being yourself is something I feel quite strongly about. Not just because I don't quite fit the trends myself :-), but because it bothers me to see people, especially young women who seem so susceptible to it, pressured into being just like everyone else. As you say, there are a myriad of talents and possibilities and it is a shame we don't celebrate everything in the human spectrum.

I can't wear some of the clothes you do as I'm a bit curvier, but I love your confidence - it enables you to pull of some unique and fun pieces :) I loved the controversial text dress on you, even though I couldn't pull it off!

Hugs to Miriam who posted above about not fitting in; that was my experience in high school as well, bar a small group of other outcasts who I am still close with now, 12 years after grad!

Hope the gig goes well - I still haven't quite forgiven you n' the boys for scheduling your Newcastle show when I had to be away for fieldwork.

And I'm really enjoying all the photographs - I have a touch of wanderlust, but have never been to Sweden!

  46. That's what I think is amazing about you, Anette. You're the genuine article; you're being yourself out there, not pretending to be something you're not. At the same time, you're very open and accepting towards the differences in other people. How can your fans NOT love you?

It's women like you that I admire and look up to.
Despite all the horrible comments people write about you (and I still see them sometimes >:( ), you still keep your head up and keep on doing what you want to do. And you know what, you ROCK!!
    To me, THAT is inspiration.

  47. Hi Anette!
    Thanks for posting again! =)
You're totally right when you say that people are different and everybody should respect everybody's opinions and appearence.
What Miriam said in her post above ... I have been through something similar. Some people from high school used to look at me differentely just because my taste in music was/is different, sometimes it hurted me and I used to think: 'How can they judge me if they don't even know me?'.
I always respect everybody's opinions even if I don't agree with them and I always try to not judge people that I don't know. I was raised this way =).

About your style: I like it and it looks great on you. There's a lot of jealousy out there so, don't listen to what some people have to say.
You're an amazing person and you're UNIQUE, so please never change =).

I love the dress you wore at the gig in Porto! =). You bought it in Portugal, right? It's gorgeous and you looked like a doll ;).

I'm so curious about the songs you will sing at the Suomi Safari! I can't wait ti see some footage ... well, it's long wait but I'm pretty sure it will be worth it eh eh.

Sorry for the big post, I think I got a bit carried away.
Hope you had a nice sleep and enjoy your day ;).

    All my love,

  53. Good morning Anette!

Hope you had a wonderful night and sweet dreams :)

What a wonderful post to see this later morning. I agree with you and the rest of posters here in 1000%. I can't stand any sign of discrimination and intolerancy. I wish people would be more opened and friendlier to eachother. It's not so hard to smile and respect. It always amazes me than it's easier for people to direct hatred and insults at others instead of just being happy and positive. Any pointless negativity is such a big waste of energy.

Bullies. I pity them. I have my share of experience in that department as well. People that laugh and insult others because they don't fit to the 'perfect social frames' are pathetic. Their souls are so poor without any will to change and take good things to their heart.

I always say: Live and let live. Anyone has right to be the way they want to be and we have NO right to judge whatsoever. Being yourself and feeling good about it, is the biggest gift the we can give to the world and other people because we learn new important things through different cultures, experiences and opinions. We learn how to be accepting, understanding and respectful. I really wish more people would have that kind of attitude but Rome wasn't built in one day, so the change has to start from a single individual and the rest will follow sooner or later!

So, I applaud to your post Anette. Stay strong and never changed (I've always been saying that ;)) because you're the best, the way you are and if someone has problems with you, it's okay, everyone's entitled to their own opinion but it's important how they express it...

    You're awesome :D

    Big hugs,
    Karolina

  58. Hej Once again, reading all these comments makes me feel happy! So much people thinking just like I do!
To be honest,I dont always like what you wear on stage too,but I have always respected you for not being afraid to be who you are!!
I cant understand haters, why they spent their days mocking someone..
Every celebrity has their own haters, and its a part of the job I guess, the bullies mock them anonymously on internet but that doesent make it any more acceptable!
I admire your strength Anette! We all have our own insecurities (like I have huge ones) but we shouldnt let them take over, and not care so much about what others may say.
Thank you, have a good day!! <3

  59. I think it's great of you treat with respect the ones that want you to change, even though some people don't deserve it. I really admire you. I hope you continue thinking that way! You are what you are and we love you no matter what!
As far as the speech about jealousy, I think we can't do nothing about it! The world is what it is, and people are cruel! I hate that they think we have to be perfect! I can't even find the words to say how I feel about it. It's really sad.
    Never change =')

    Love,
    Maria

  60. You, are truely an awesome woman. I love that you stay true to yourself, and don't let anyone keep you down.

I've always loved your free spirited style, and the adorable charm you always give off.

    Never stop being yourself.

  61. You go girl! =)

You should never change because people do not like your clothes or hair or whatever. This would be a rat race anyway because once you would change it other people who liked it the way it was would then be the ones that do not like it anymore.

As long as you wear the clothes and hairstyles that YOU like it is fine, these things should always make you feel comfortable so that you can reveal the things that truly matter: your inner self!

As for jealousy, this and other negative emotions will always be there and in a way it is a good thing as well because of all the bad emotions we would be unable to appreciate the good ones anymore. We should just try to avoid them becoming something we are all too focused on, they should not dictate our lives.

  62. Hey! ;)

This is exactly the right attitude!

People can be really immature sometimes.
Every human being is different and some of them just can't understand that. It's a waste of energy to think and worry about that...BE YOURSELF, this is what matters!

These comments are the evidence, there are so many great people who appreciate what you do and how you do it...whatever clothes you wear. ;)

  63. Hi Anette,
I agree with you, everybody is different on their way...so they can't insult person who doesn't like...

I can't wait the songs in august! I'm so excited!

  64. Hi Anette!

Great post and I couldn't agree with your sentiments more. There is so much pressure these days to keep to a certain path, behave in a certain way that people must lose some of their own identity. It's sad to think that there must be many dreams and hopes (even quite normal ones) suppressed because of fear of what others might think.

As a fashion fan myself, I love the fact that you have your own style and don't follow the traditional 'metal' look. It is always great fun to look at the pics from the shows to see what you have been wearing.

I saw you at the Greenfield Festival last Friday and I just have to say how immensely brilliant you were there. The night was just magical! My friend and I came from the UK and we were right on the barrier, we were the ones waving the Union Jack and various signs ("Marco don't forget the lyrics", "We <3 Troy" - hope he liked that one! and this one for you - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3297/3631617143_e1b3eeb2b3_o.jpg Hope you saw it! :)

But I want to thank you (and the guys too) for giving us such an epic and amazing show!

Wish I could see you at Suomi Safari but I am very excited by the possibilities of what you might be singing! Can't wait to see the videos, though! :)

    xxx

  66. Anette, i agree totally with you. Do what you want and be yourself, you rock. Stripes on a tiger don't wash away!
Too bad i can't see this tiger at suomi safari.

I also love your "There wil come a day" version, you really should do a side project with songs like this.

    Have a wonderful day

  68. Hello Anette!
Thanks a lot for the updates once again! This entry of yours is my favorite one so far and I totally agree with it; the secret for everyone's well-being and happiness is tolerance. As long as we accept everybody's tastes, identities and likings, we will be accepted too. And I completely admire you for just underlining this idea so firmly in your post! =)
Also, I can't wait to find out which those never performed Nightwish songs will be! Too bad we have almost 2 months to go till the concert! Anyway, I'm sure it will be great and I'm looking forward to watch videos of it.
Have a great day and take care of yourself! :)

  69. I totally agree with you. You said it very good. I hope that everybody can see how beautiful they are, inside of them, everyone is diffrent. We have to accept them.
I hope that you gonna sing some non played Dark Passion Play songs like Meadows of Heaven on Suomi Safari.
    Have a nice day.

    Lots of love,
    Fay

  70. Hey, I didn't see this post before! I'm really excited to hear these two new songs :) I think that you absolutely rock at every Nightwish song new and old so I'm sure I won't be disappointed! x

  71. Ohh, now I really would hope that I would live in Sweden, unfortunately not :(
"Mummm! Could we go to Sweden cruise?!" :D
Maybe not :( But I´ll waiting what "new" songs you perform. We´ll see...

And I´m in the same line with you from differences and all that what you spoke. You said it REALLY good.
I have seen bullying (and I, myself too have been anguished someday) in a school and I really know it´s not nice. Even if mocking would be minimal, it hurts. It really hurts!

So, all who read this : Minimal bad words maybe not hurt so much, BUT if it´s constant, it´s really bad. And someones are more delicate than other. Don´t ever think "she don´t care, if I say this", all people mind what we are speaking of them.
    Think what you say!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Can't wait to hear the new songs! :D
And I totally agree with you about the differences, I mean, if we would all be the same it would be so damn boring.. I don't get it that people always have to comment on others when they're not "usual", I'm okay with it if someone doesn't likes my clothes, music, being, etc, but why do they always have to SAY it, just think it. Of course it's easier for them to react because they are with more at the moment and you are alone. I really don't like it when people start to call you names that really aren't nice (like whore etc) or start to throw things at you, I get quiet often bottles, cookies thrown at me or water or soda getting over me... Just keep your opinion for yourself or just say it in a better way. I'm happy you and a a lot here too are thinking about it the same way :)
I really love your way of clothing, I can't say it's always my style, but it doesn't have to be my style for liking it :) I really love it that you just wear what you want and what you like, it makes you even more beautiful and greater! And I think it's so great what you've done the last years, after all those nasty comments and you are still here and awesome! Big respect for you :)

Just stay as you are, never change! :D

thnx so much to live your opinion!
    with love and respect!

  74. Yeah, you are right, Anette!
    Be yourself.

People shouldn't follow the others just to become "cool".
I like the way I am. I don't care if people mock at me anymore. I'm tired of this, so I just ignore.
    We can't please everybody

Your warm words show that you are a good person. You have an amazing personality, you are talented in many ways...as a woman, as a mother, as a photografer, as a singer...
That's why I, and we all, like you.

    Sorry for my bad English.
Greetings from a fan from Brazil.
    Take care.

  75. Ehhhmm.....that all you said is as right as i'm a girl =) you're so warm =)
But about everyone being youself....many, onot, lots of fans try to look alike with the idols. And this is not gonna change =( They dye their hair in the same way, do the things their idol does and wear the same clothes(not all of them but the majority). For me i was always trying to be myself but sometimes it's so hard to resist something that you love in a person you like)_so...
Thank you for your nice explanation :)))

  76. Anette, take your choir to Hartwall arena and perfom Meadows of heaven, that would be cool.
